BSG Season 2 Finale (Spoilers)

Sometimes I wonder if some of you guys actually watch the shows. Seriously though Nos there was two whole episodes dedicated to this, you may want to watch the 2nd half of the season. There were lots of really good episodes and those were two of them, hard to forget. In fact those to episodes were called Ressurection Ship 1 and 2. (sorry I couldn't resist)

He was just asking a question. No need to be such a jerk about it.

My wife read some information about an early script version of 'Lay Down Your Burdens'. Initially, Brother Cavil wasn't masquerading as a human and arrived to the fleet with proposal of a truce... with strings attached. In their demands, the Cylons were asking to get 10% of the human population to use in their farms, both male and female. Obviously they didn't go that route, but who knows? That (or a variation thereof) might answer what the Cylons want at this point. Oh, and the word 'cavil' is a noun and verb involving an irrelevant or trivial point made during an argument or discussion, so we might want to keep that in mind when thinking of what both Brother Cavil's were saying while jailed.

Also, a few other small things I noticed:

 • The baby is named 'Isis' now. Up until now, the Greek pantheon of Gods influenced a lot of the names in the series: Apollo, Hera, Pegasus, Zephyr (or 'Zephyrus'), and more that I can't think of right now. What is the significance of this baby now being named 'Isis', a name which belongs to a completely different pantheon of Gods? And moreover, most of the Egyptian gods themselves are hybrids, which also corresponds to this child's name.
 • Did anyone else catch Dualla playing with a ring on her ring finger when playing with Apollo? My wife does screen-caps of the show, and while working on that last night, we ran the sequence in slow motion and we're pretty sure we saw a ring on her finger. Married? Engaged? Hmmmm.
 • 'Pudgy Apollo' is quite possibly the best use of makeup I've seen on the show. I was actually asking my wife 'Are you sure Jamie Bamber didn't gain 20-30 pounds for the show?' The makeup, lighting, even the way he walked really sold the illusion that this is not the fit, trim Apollo we were used to seeing. A small detail, but supremely effective.
 • Lets not forget the scene where Chief Tyrol goes and apologizes to Cally at the beginning of the show. This episode was so full of great scenes that it's easy to forget that one, but the anguish on the Chief's face was just bang on. And Cally just coming out and saying 'I forgive you' right off the bat? Not at all what I was expecting. Your typical show might have gone the 'I hate you and never want to see you again', but that choice for Cally was perfect, and more gut wrenching than the alternative, in my opinion. And you could tell that Tyrol was completely shocked, not even sure if he wanted to be forgiven. Just a fantastic scene. And the 'Got to love it when a woman can complain even with her jaw wired shut' comment was just excellent.

LOL I probably have missed several entire episodes, thanks to having been at work on a very bizarre schedule the last few weeks (overnight Mon/Tues 2nd shift Fri, then 1st shift Sat/Sun) I barely knew if I was coming or going half the time and end up catch the reairings of the show (if it all)

hmm Ok the ship has been blown up, check. but still do the humans know this?
(literally the last episodes I saw were when the cylons are getting reborn all over the place and then starbuck runs off to Caprica to save the stranglers, then the next episode I saw was the end of the season (with the "hidden" world and all). Like I said due to the vaguaries of my schedule and the way Sci-Fi runs reruns during the day I probably am missing a good sized hunk of season 2.)

Yeah human knew about the resurrection ship getting blown up. Work schedule can be a pain some time. But you can always find those missing eps. online, and they are worth it IMO.

Now that I have succumbed to peer pressure and watched the last two eps of season 2, I feel cheated... I mean now I have to wait for soooo long! Thanks guys!

Wild Speculations for season 3:
I think that the destruction of the resurrection ship is not entirely unplanned by the cylon. I mean given the fact that they are actively trying to produce future generations from humans ( the eps. "farm" come to mind) suggest to me that they want to end their current way of reproduction. ( Sharon helped the destruction of their "mother" ship pretty painlessly)

I get the sense that they want to have "individuality" (not a word i know) in their society. I mean a copy of a copy doesn't make a individual right?

When galactica Sharon had the baby, that offered great hope for the cylons. So i think that the baby will play a big role in season 3. I think that at first, people are going to try to hide the identity of the baby from the cylons on the new caprica. But after some conflicts, the identity of the baby will be revealed, and the cylons will completely loose any motive of trying to "farm" from humans.
After this discovery, I can see a great deal of internal conflicts within both the cylons and humans. For the cylons there is the question of "should they force human to mate with them?" Given that cyclons are pretty religious (I don't believe what Cavil said) and that they don't want to be "flawed" like humans, the answer to that question is hard to pin point.
In the human camp, the question of "can we just forgive and forget?" comes to mind. I mean how can we forgive someone who almost killed our whole race? But then again, isn't holding a grudge part of the flaws that we humans have that got us into this mess in the first place?

Oh man, I am thinking too much for a sunday morning. And I am not making any sense... All I can say is I cannot wait for season 3

Duh, this just occurred to me. Who killed Gallatica Sharon, and who is now married with child with Sharon's ex-lover? I would not want to be Cally at the start of the next season.

Doesn't matter as Cally's a Cylon anyway.

I'm surprised no one's (seriously) said that before. Tyrol just seems to be a magnet for them, first with Galactica-Sharon and then Cavil.

Oh I forgot to mention. I am betting Geata was spying on Baltar for Adama. His loyalty to Adama being proven when he called him about the fixed election. I am sure Adama didn't forget the conversation he had with Roslin and was probably looking for evidence that Baltar was in league with the Cylons, so he could pull the fleet out. Unfortunately the Cylons showed up before that could happen I guess.

No, I still say Gaeta is a cylon. The cylons needed Baltar to win the election, and Gaeta managed to maneuver himself perfectly into the position of overseeing the results. Also, and it may be my imagination, after Tigh and Gaeta have their confrontation, I swear Gaeta smirks as he's walking out the door. CYLON!

Of course, I'm beinning to think that aside from Sharon and Six, only guest stars are allowed to be cylon.

They say: The guy who used to play Hercules guest stars next week on BSG.
I say: CYLON!

This week on a very special Blossom, Joey is a Cylon.

Whoa!

Also, I absolutely loved the moment where Brother Cavil is led into the brig shouting how he's not a Cylon, sees his other self, and says something like "Oh, well, ok then."

Oh I still believe that Gaeta is a cylon, all I am saying is that he has gained the trust of Adama, so much so that Adama sent him to spy on Baltar.

I totally agree that was just fantastic! I was half expecting him to see himself and freak out, but the moment they chose was so much better and Dean Stockwell played it perfectly!

I agree completely with this. What I'm now wondering is, if Baltar surrendered to the Cylons, then what would stop the other 5 or 6 models from going ahead and revealing themselves? That would make an even stronger case for the majority of Season 3 to be retreads of the skipped year.

Suspicion of Gaeta being a Cylon's kind of dropped off of late since it appears that the Cylons only infiltrated the Colonies two years before the miniseries and its been established that Gaeta's served under Adama longer than that.

We still spy on our allies. Cylons aren't stupid, and they know the power of the fleet is still out there and will resist, that small pockets of the humans will certainly resist. Having spies still makes a lot of sense for the cylons.

My predictions for Season 3:

--The Galactica and the Pegasus prepare for a rescue mission. They're a skeleton crew, they need people and pilots.

--Starbuck and Anders will most likely set up resistance efforts, and eventually they will link up with the Adamas, somehow.

--Baltar or Roslin will die. One or the other.

No way will Baltar die. Except maybe on the final episode ever.

It's pretty clear that once you go Cylon, you never go back.

Which really makes me wonder: When does a Cylon truly "know" him/her self? Heck does cylons even have a notion of "self." Maybe that is why they wanted to actually be able to find a way to reproduce themselves w/o resorting to their budding method

My understanding of the Resurrection Ship was that it was for Cylons who die too far away from their home planet; sort of like a range extender for a wireless modem. Apparently, the "downloading" has a distance range.

My TiVo cut off right after the cylons walked into Baltar's suite/office/harem. What happened after that? When did Starbuck beat the hell out of guy? And did they show what happened to Sharon? And did they really kill the Brothers Cavil?

When did Starbuck beat the hell out of guy?

Many episodes ago. The cylon she interrogated makes a brief appearance at the end of this show.

And did they show what happened to Sharon?

No.

And did they really kill the Brothers Cavil?

Not that I saw.

Edit: blast it! Elysium beat me to it. Do you guys remember the name of the eps. where starbuck beat the cylon that was looking for her?
Nothing much happened after that, just some awkward eye exchange between Baltar and Six. And the showing of cylon army march through the crowds. And starbuck making a comment to chief that they will fight to the death like they always do.
Oh and Balter basically surrounders since there is really no other choice.

Pretty sure Fletcher is proof of that.

Oh Draco: Did you see the bit where Balter asked how did the cylons find them? If not, then here is the explaination given by the male cylon. It was actually by accident, since they detected the radioactive signature of a nuclear detonation while patrolling a light year away.

Did you guys notice that Tom Zarek wasn't with Balter? I wonder if he died during the nuke blast of cloud 9.

It was the Ammo Depot episode, the guy they (Starbuck) beat/then scuttled was manning the ammo depot. So like the 3rd episode or so.

Also it's been known that Cylons have 'sleeper' agents, cylons that believe they're humans (much like replicants from Blade Runner which is why you see the references since EJA played Deckards 'partner') and don't know they're cylon. Galactica Boomer was a sleeper while Caprica Boomer was 'aware'. So, it seems when Al saw his other self some sort of programming kicked in (and it wasn't to come up with a lie that he's a twin!) and said, "Oh yeah, I guess I am."

Zarek is most likely a big local governor/mafia guy that they just didn't have time to show (they had more footage but Sci-Fi would only allot 90 minutes for the finale not 120) and just didn't/doesn't care what Baltar does as long they leave each other alone.

Mommy Sharon is an interesting question, my first reaction is to think she's still on Galactica since Helo was on the bridge with Adama but at the same time she pretty much told him to F off after she brought Al back to the ship.

Apollo seemed scarred to me not so much fat.

I don't think the 'real' Prez or Baltar will die, they're opposite sides of the same coin and represent the two sides best. As someone said I can see a parallel to the first series where Baltar and Six are
"Reunited and it feels so gooood!" and he joins them when this latest scenario plays itself out.

The population of the City (maybe the planet?) was listed at 39K that's like 10K dead from the nuke and one year of hard livin'.

Keep in mind there are most likely other sleeper agents still with the colonists during this time and for the record we now know 7 models (more than half unless they're breeding now)
Xena - Number 3
Politician Guy - Number 5
Gina - Number 6
Sharon - Number 8
Leoben (the ammo depot) - Unknown #
Simon (the farm doctor) - Unknown #
Cavil (Priest) - Unknown # (Could he be #1?)

Some possible Gaald offending spoilers from the podcast/interviews with RDM:

~Ron D. Moore has stated that the first 4-5 episodes of season 3 will deal with the Cylon occupation of New Caprica, and unless a vast swath of episodes is going to be a dream sequence, all of these "one year later" events really happen.
~Moore actually discusses the "one year later" in the podcast, saying that many people might just assume this is a dream, or a Dallas-like season-erasing shower-dream episode, but he thought it was a bold decision to jump ahead a full year, and have all of it be definitely real.

wow I just watched the eps with the interrogation. It is such a powerful eps. Boomer actually told chief that she is a cylon in the very beginning. Cylons are very confused...
And the interrogation sequence has some powerful dialogues, highly recommend watching that one again.

So, it seems when Al saw his other self some sort of programming kicked in (and it wasn't to come up with a lie that he's a twin!) and said, "Oh yeah, I guess I am."

I am pretty sure Cavil (the one from Galactica) always knew he was a Cylon. Galactica Sharon had a hard time dealing with the fact that she was a Cylon when her programing kicked in, so we could only assume that would be the same for any other Cylons put in her position. Which is why a lot of the other Cylons on Caprica thought she was a hero, they knew it wasn't going to be easy on her. When Cavil walked in denying the accusations he had no idea another copy of himself was on board and was just doing the same thing we have seen other Cylons do when they are caught. Lie, confuse, and speak half truths until they can make thier escape or at the very least leave the humans more confused than they were before. When Cavil walked into the brig and saw another copy of himself there he knew the jig was up and stopped pretending he wasn't one of them. Which brought us that great moment. In fact I think I am going to watch the episode again right now.

Cylons is the kwaziest peoples!
