Holy sh*t!
And now I have to wait til October?
Is this all going to be a dream sequence or something? If so, that is going to be so dissappointing.
Badferret is a Cylon. 8 seconds cough... Cylon.
Frak, frak, frakity frak!
Now I have to wait seven months for another fix? There ought to be a law against causing people this kind of stress.
God, I love this show!
90 Minutes of goodness... Mmmm.
At least they give us Doctor Who in the meantime.
This is, bar none, consistantly the best show on television. Advancing the story a year was a genius way to advance the plot without stagnating the show! I spent the last half-hour repeatedly saying "Holy s**t!" over and over again as we saw how everything turned out. The broken light fixture on Galactica was a perfect way to show the condition of the fleet and seeing Baltar giving into a hedonistic lifestyle was oddly appropriate. And, The Chief & Calley, WHOA! And Starbuck's married!? And I could just go on & on & on with everything...
I am just repeatedly floored by how good this show is.
This wait for season 3 is really, really, really, really, really, really, going to suck.
This was one of the best crafted episodes of any TV show I have ever seen. The writing on this episode, as usual was phenomenal. The one year later thing almost had me putting on the emergency brake, but I backed off and put my trust in the writers; and did they ever deliver! Yes, it's going to be a long wait, but something tells me that it will be worth it.
My DVR cut off the last two minutes the first time around, so I had to watch the second airing to see the ...
surrender
... but it was worth it. Crap, dude. That's one way to keep the audience guessing. Instantly advance the story WAY past the point at which anything is predictable and then ... see ya next year! Dicks.
Anybody else notice the damage that the camera took when
the Cloud 9 blew?
Dean Stockwell cracked me up. Rumor is that part of Season 3 will help fill in what had happened over the previous year. I think Adama regretted his counsel to Roslin as soon as he heard, "You have your orders."
The thread says spoilers guys, no need to white stuff out.
One thing I noticed with the whole Cylon nuke plot, I bet that was meant to show them where Earth was. They get to Earth, and settle down, then the nuke goes off so the Cylons can find it. So did Gaius leading them to New Caprica screw all that up? Or did they just want humanity and not care where Earth is?
Season 3 is going to be freaking great. Though I think this whole cliffhanger thing is really going to bite them in the ass later when people tune in to Season 3 and go "oh yeah, so what happened again?". I know plenty of people who can't keep up with the show because you miss one episode and it no longer makes any sense. Over 7 months later? But this is really the entire series, so serial and with almost no stand alone episodes, so it's not unexpected.
I can't wait to see what happens with Season 3.
I'm of mixe feelings with the jump ahead in the last twenty minutes. There's something about it that screams "Convienent Plot Device #19" so loudly that you half-expected almost everything you saw from then on (Adama's 'stache, half the crew jumping ship and getting all married, Gaeta being Baltar's lackey) right up to and including the fact that it was Caprica-Six and Galactica-Sharon who showed up on New Caprica, not necessarily asking for a surrender but getting it nonetheless. First thing that crossed my mind when the "One Year Later" line showed up was DC Comics' OYL and now hearing that the first few episodes will flashback to the missing year, I can't help but think of the new "52" maxiseries.
Interesting factoid: Tyrol's speech was lifted almost word for word from Mario Savio's famous address in 1964 during the Free Speech Movement at Berkley. The end credits mentioned "Mario Savio speech excerpted couresy of: Lynne Hollander Savio" and according to the Battlestar Wiki, the actor even emulated most of Savio's gestures from that speech. Thought it looked familiar.
I am also interested to see the direction they take with the new season, and how the gaps get filled in. My feeling is that they've never been afraid to tell a story in two timelines, so the first few episodes will probably do a good bit of bouncing. Honestly, they've bought themselves enough material to fill the first half of next season. My guess is that the fleet won't be reformed and back underway for at least a dozen episodes or so, but we'll see.
It was convienent but not expected, series usually never jump ahead like that.
Sci-Fi will hopefully be smart and start adverting the series and try to cram as much in as possible before Oct they may be able to get through all the eps twice if they wanted so people can get caught up.
It was interesting, I liked how the guy Starbuck beat to a pulp then shot out the airlock wanted to know where she was.

That's who that was!
It makes sense that the mystical-spouting Leoben would join up with Caprica-Six and Galactica-Sharon. The real question is what happened with all that crap the Cavils were spouting about mistakes? Do the Cylons believe in two wrongs making a right?
"It's too bad she won't live! But then again, who does?"
This is all assuming that the Cylons are unified. For all we know there are multipile Cylon factions at this point.
I'm not so sure about the first part of your post (not-quoted) I just have a hard time jiving a Kerensky/Clans (Battletech reference FTW) type situation w/ the current info but anything is possible.
I do agree with with your (quoted) statement, the idea was given in the Downloaded episode that not every Cylon would go along and that for machines, they're not the Borg, they do not share a same mind; They're individuals and that's interesting because that means as you said that there possibly are different factions between pacifism and aggression and we don't know which is in control and which the Cylons at the end represent (though we're assuming they're the Hippie-Human-Immersed-Cylons who came back to report from the front that the war is wrong).
In other words, the Cylons are just as F'd up as humans and they're much on equal footing morally/ethically.
I'm looking forward to Season 3, I'm glad they didn't get rid of Pegasus and don't really see the need for them to do so. I feel much better about the series now than I did at the end of Season 1.
Also Battlestarwiki says the last episode had enough shot for two hours but SciFi only gave them 90 minutes and much of the cut info fills in the year on the planet. So it may be on a DVD release, just saying is all.
Anybody else think the guy swearing Baltar in looked familiar? Like in a "Original Battlestar Galactica" kind of way.

I disagree. I think there were several "stand alone" episodes this year (mostly in the middle) where the plot hardly advance:
Ep. 8 - Final Cut
Ep. 14 - Black Market
Ep. 15 - Scar
Ep. 16 - Sacrifice
and Ep. 17, to a limited extent. It basically took an entire episode to put Apollo charge of the ship.
Holy f*cking sh*t. Holy sweet motherf*ck in a handbag. OMFG. I just watched not only this week's episode for the first time, but also part one, from the previous week. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to think. This show challenges me in ways that I could never anticipate, and I don't know how to cope. I am undone; I am unstrung. Sweet baby f*cksalot, I am not worthy.
So.... i'm guessing that I should buy the Season 1 DVDs, wait for Season 2 to come out, and start watching BSG in the fall. Right?
The first half of Season 2 is already out, list priced only ten bucks less than the full Season 1 set, which also includes the original 2003 miniseries. These people are out to rape your wallet.

that is a very good idea. I am thinking of not watching the last 2 eps. until fall...
The nuke was pointless for pointing out where the humans were, the six knew and when she died she could just tell the others...
But it would give the cylons an "Excuse" for having found the humans without lettign slip the fact that they keep comign back to life. (or do the humans know that already?)

Gina is dead, Nos. No resurrection ship = no resurrection.

Sometimes I wonder if some of you guys actually watch the shows. Seriously though Nos there was two whole episodes dedicated to this, you may want to watch the 2nd half of the season. There were lots of really good episodes and those were two of them, hard to forget. In fact those to episodes were called Ressurection Ship 1 and 2. (sorry I couldn't resist)
I started off this evening by watching Stargate SG1, I have over the last three or so years watched every episode of SG1 it is a guilty pleasure of mine, and while most episodes are cheesy and melodramatic each year there have been several really good episodes. This year was no exception and the season finale was great! So before watching BSG I was already in a really good mood. The season finale of BSG blew me away. I didn't even realize the dam thing was 90 minutes long, I was so caught up.
I think a few of you have already mentioned this but I think it is worth repeating. BSG is one of the best Sci-Fi shows on T.V. right now and I believe one of the best shows on T.V. right now period.
I liked how the guy Starbuck beat to a pulp then shot out the airlock wanted to know where she was.
Thanks Eezy, I don't know how I missed that! I mean I knew which version of Six was in Baltar's ship right when she made her entrance, you would think I would have remembered the other guy and put 2 and 2 together. My god this show rocks!
I'm with Lobo on this one: HOLY SWEET MOTHER OF GOD. I mean, holy f*ck in the ear. sweet jebus in my pants, dear god o lord o god of the TV, that f*cking rocked and rocked hard. But the answer is so f*cking obvious:
The time change happens when baltar falls asleep.
again: so that's who that guy was!
yep, loving this show, best show on tv, no doubts about it.
I too am not sure about the one year jump, it's a bit jaring for my liking, there were so many story threads (beteeen characters) still open before they settled, it's a bit hard to just let them drop and stop caring about them a year latter. I know they can be told in flashbacks, but i find flashbacks tacky and annoying, and only work in certain circumstances (see: FireFly), i dont like them when they are used to fill in backstory that was missed as a result of a jump cut in the writting. I assumed that the story woiuld jump much faster through time anyway for a bit, to age the cylon child a little more, but i wasnt expecting the one year, though i can apprieciate the results, even if i dont like what it will mean for the story telling, if you take my meaning (sorry, kinda rambling at the moment).
Also, i'm waiting to see what's going on with Galactica Sharon, since i cant believe that she would 'join the cylon cause' so to speak, there must be something more going on there. And while i would believe it if some random cylon ships took hold of New Caprica, i dont think that Galactica Sharon and her lot (with all that talk about their mistakes and all) would invade with hostile intentions, but they must want something.
and on that note, i really want to know more about Galactica Sharon and Caprica Six. Downloaded was probably my favorite eppisode of season two -so well written and raising so many questions and ideas. I want ot know more about the cylons now and Sharon and Cap6's cause. I love it that they're not flat, boring, and cliched bad guys, but that they are a people with their own philosophies and believes, made up of individuals with unique oppinions, and their own faults. much more interesting than you're generic stormtrooper.
Also, after watching stargate and once again wonder how much longer it will take to finish (i'm sorry, but my patience for stargate has fallen somewhat since, oh, season 2 - but that's a rant for another time), i too was lef thinking at the end of BSG - what? that's it? 90 minutes already!!
awsome stuff
Well, here's waiting for October
