NHL Trade Deadline

The NHL trade deadline is one of my favourite days of the year. Some really crazy deals happen and they already started a day early.

-Roloson goes from Minnesota to Edmonton for a first round pick and a conditional third round pick
-Theodore goes to Montreal for Aebischer
-Mark Parrish and Brent Sopel go to LA for two prospects (Tambellini is a very good one too)
-Ville Nieminen gets traded to San Jose from NYR for a third round pick
-Luke Richardson goes to the Leafs for a fifth round pick

Tomorrow is going to be very interesting as noone knows who is really available.

And the 'Canes get Mark Recchi from Pittsburgh. I wonder if I can send him a check to see if he'll stab Orpik in the eye before he heads out?

The trades are:

Yesterday
-Klee (Tor) for Suglobov (NJ prospect)

Today
-Recchi (Pitts) for Nordgren, Kolanos and a second round pick (Carolina)
-Simpson (Chi) for a sixth round pick (Mon)
-Lukowich (NYI) for a third round pick (NJ)
-Brown (NJ) for a fourth round pick (Van)
-Gauthier (Pho) for Josh Gratton and two second round picks (Phi)
-O'Donnell (Pho) for Joel Perrault (Ana prospect)
-Noronen (Buf) for a second round pick (Van)

-Cross (Pit) for a fourth round pick (Det)
-McCarthy (Van) for a conditional pick (Atl)
-Samsonov (Bos) for Reasoner, Yan Stansty and a second round pick (Edm)
-Arnason (Chi) for Bochenski and a draft pick (Ott)
-Dowd (Chi) for a fourth round pick (Col)
-Dimitrakos (SJ) for a third round pick (Phi)
-Mitchell (Min) and a second round pick for Skoula and Belle (Dal)
-Kvasha (NYI) for a third round pick (Pho)
-Weinrich (St.L) for a third round pick and a prospect (Van)
-Lundmark (Pho) for a draft pick (Cal)
-Tim Jackman (Pho) for Yannick Lehoux (LA)
-Ric Jackman (Pit) for a Petr Taticek (Fla)
-Wiemer (Cal) for a fourth round draft pick (NJ)

25trades today, that's a record. Phoenix, Anaheim, and Vancouver made a lot of changes.

I love what the Canucks did. Carney, Weinrich, and Brown are all great defensive defensemen while Noronen is an extremely capable back-up.
