Can't tell if The Onion

Not The Onion

Kinda want to know what his miracle were

The latest miracle attributed to Acutis relates to the reported healing of a girl from Costa Rica who had suffered a head trauma after falling from her bicycle in Florence, Italy, where she was studying. Her mother said she prayed for her daughter’s recovery at the tomb of Acutis in Assisi.

Acutis was beatified and declared “blessed” after his first miracle in 2020, when he reportedly healed a Brazilian boy who had a birth defect in his pancreas that left him unable to eat food normally.

Oh boy, faith healing.

What year is this again?

From the CNN article:

Acutis – considered a millennial as he was born between the early 1980s and mid-1990s – is remembered by friends and family as enjoying playing video games such as Halo, Super Mario and Pokémon.

Ladies and gents, He gets us.

I thought his miracle was getting pulseaudio to work in systemd or something.

A true miracle for a millennial would be buying a house on a single person's wage.

As miraculous as that would be, I'm fairly certain that miracles for sainthood have to performed after a person had died.

The Empire thought this was a good time to invade Chicago suburbs.

I can hear the imperial march...

But how big is the tree? Can we get a banana for scale?

A rock climbing chicken?
Sounds like the plot of a Pixar movie ;P

Our star is still at it, and it's only going to get worse through next year!

And by "worse" you mean "way better Northern Lights", right?

Thats part of it, but the "worse" refers to interference with satellites and electronic equipment. Solar flares can be very damaging if they're strong enough. The brighter and further reaching auroras are about the only positive part of it all.

While that's certainly something I've always heard, it's NOT something that I've ever been aware of affecting my daily life. Not even reading a news story about "recent solar flares crippled this satellite"

That's not beacuse they're not out there. A big storm in 2003 took out power to parts of Sweden and damaged electrical transformers in South Africa.

A storm in 2022 completely disabled 40 SpaceX satellites.

This recent storm has had lots of people closely watching and managing the vulnerable systems but because we know about the danger, there are mitigation systems in place.

Solar warming is real

Spoiler:

1. Radiohead
2. Hole
3. Screaming Trees
4. Alice in Chains
5. Soundgarden
6. Smashing Pumpkins
7. Nine Inch Nails
8. Matchbox 20
9. Pearl Jam

Got 8 or 9. Forgot #3 even existed until seeing the answer.

I got 8 of 9. Best part is I've only listened to one of the bands on purpose (I'm not a 90's music guy) and that's the one I didn't get. Of the 8 I got, I can only name songs one of them sing.

Spoiler:

Missed NIN, but like like like.
Can name a couple Pearl Jam songs, but not a fan.

Yeah, if it was 1860.

Today you'd be hard pressed to find a man-in-the-street who can spell falconry, let alone recognize a falconry glove.
