I know that isn't the intended joke, but WTF Idaho?

not Idaho's fault that a black hole formed right there, warping spacetime. Or that Montana got so excited when it saw the black hole.

I'm confused. I count 10 states with a time-zone change that doesn't line up with their borders. Why the hate for Idaho but Kentucky is fine?

It's about keeping the timezone line fairly even, which Kentucky's split does.

I would reply, but unfortunately there are no electronic devices in 1864.

Oh, so it's not all bad then.

In Kentucky you change time zones when traveling east-west--you know, the direction that's relevant to what time the sun says it is. In Idaho you change time zones by traveling north-south...

Riiiiiight! That makes sense why that's weird!

The whole thing reminds me how time is just this construct we all agree upon.

Doesn't the same happen in other states like Oregon or is the image wrong?

Oregon has that weird Mountain Time bubble on the eastern end. If I'd been making a list instead of just calling out the most egregious offender it probably would have been second on it.

As someone who’s lived in Idaho and Oregon most of my life I’m positive these time zones align with commerce and zones of influence.

In Southern Idaho Boise and Eastern Oregon are fairly tied together. There’s farming in Eastern Oregon that produces a lot of the same crops and I believe some of the same companies that operate in Ada county.

Meanwhile Northern Idaho is fairly connected to Spokane, WA. Folks commute from all over Northern Idaho into Spokane. Additionally Northern Idaho is fairly isolated from Southern Idaho, because of how distant it is from the rest of the state and all the mountains in between. So there’s a more natural commercial and educational affinity between Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington.

That's more or less what I figured was going on. Still bothers me a little to look at on a map like that.

You know, based on the thumbnail, I feel like maybe they're already answered the question here without spending 16+ minutes to watch the video.

There was a giant xenomorph? (Surely I'm not the only person to see that little bit of pareidolia...)

Former dog trainer here:

Cat's like meat. Dogs love meat because it's like feeding them Super Chocolate Crunchies cereal. Dog's diets are supposed to be 60%+ bone. Don't feed your dog a giant piece of meat. Cats, on the other hand, have a mostly meat diet.

Dog treats for the non-squeamish: uncooked chicken necks and backs.
Back in the day, I had a puppy that would do any trick I could think of for chicken necks.
(UNCOOKED. The warning thing about chicken bones is that cooked ones can turn into shrapnel.)
