Post a picture, entertain me!

Regarding the Detroit/Hiroshima comparison, this is misleading and has been done several times.

Firstly, that is a photo of Ouellette Ave in Windsor, not Detroit.

Second, this is a photo of Ouellette now:

Here is a description of how people emphasize growth in the Hiroshima area and blight in the Detroit area (scroll down for the update regarding this particular photo).

Yes, Detroit still has significant blight and yes its revitalization is highly centered in central business districts and is rife with gentrification. However, it is not the trash-heap it is so often depicted as and these kinds of photos which only encourage photographers and others to emphasize images and stories of blight rather than people doing awesome things in and for the city. Say nice things about Detroit and end rant <3

Love my black cat, Sammie:

I have a friend who lives in Detroit, and nothing gets him angrier than when people talk about how Detroit is a cesspool. He's watched documentary makers from Germany film a derelict building right across the street from an area that's prospering... but because it doesn't fit the narrative they want, they wont film it

You're right that it isn't fair to Detroit. I've heard that it is all of Michigan that is the cesspool.

I work pretty much across from Mattel headquarters and have walked past it dozens of times. I've never been compelled to stop there until today:

That's the weirdest statue of Steve Irwin that I've ever seen.

It's him holding the stingray right before his death.

You weirdo.

You have some odd hobbies, Clock.

To whit, that's the ONLY statue of Steve Irwin I've ever seen. Comparative Irwin Statuology is beyond my skill and paygrade.

EDIT - *reeeccordscraatch* I googled "steve irwin statue" and let me tell you, that is far from the weirdest Steve Irwin statue that exists.

I'll let you decide which is the weirdest.

Spoiler - they're all weird in their own special way.

The double hand-job pose he's doing is an odd one. Maybe it explains the smiles.

Isn't "Seinfeld for millennials" just Seinfeld? It was on a lot when I was TV watching age.
