Firefly - Love it!

Pages

I just bought the complete season of Firefly at Target. I was home sick today and watched five of them. What freakin' rock have I been living under? This is a great series.

When does next season start?

It starts and ends on December 20th.

This season is only about 3 episodes long alltogether and comes on one easy-to-use DVD !

Dude, there's been like 20785631096357 Firefly threads. Even the robots eventually catch one of them

Watch the damned special feature, fool! Well, not until you're done the series, that is.

It says right on the box that the show is over, heh.

Welcome to our obsession, and joy, and misery, and then brief ray of hope that pushed the misery away for a while, and then the final crushing defeat that sent us into desperate resignation. Enjoy!

5 episodes in! Oh, the joy you're about to experience. You think it's good? It's about to get a lot better - Our Mrs. Reynolds, Jaynestown, and especially Out Of Gas are some of the best television sci-fi episodes ever made. Be sure and catch the movie when it's out on DVD next week.

Oh, and for the record, latest figures show that Serenity fell about 1.5 million short of breaking even across its various releases. On the upside, preorder have Serenity at #4 on Amazon's Top DVD sales for the week. I'm not saying that's going to bring the franchise back, but it's nice to still see it being successful.

Oh God, I'm like those Nintendo people who always remind you that Big N is making a profit, except my Nintendo is Firefly.

(psst - the word is "FanBoy")

Or fanboi if you want to be hip and "cool".

What Elysium said. Out of Gas couldn't possibly be better than it is. All the normal rules, about how anything can be improved through the addition of strippers, or chocolate, or bacon, or orang-utans, or whatever, simply do not apply to Out of Gas.

Where "cool" has a given value of "user of the profoundly annoying goth-spawned mispelling of 'boy' that was lame even before Avril Lavigne's image team co-opted it."

Correct. Hence the quotes.

Seconded. Everything in it - from the soundtrack that literally talks to you to the final closing shot - is perfect.

When does next season start?

On a less positive note, why is the second largest mega-conglomerate retail chain in America selling Firefly for $10 more than what I bought at a cheesy high cost movie rental store?

Only $1.5 million away from the theatrical release? Then it should be pretty profitable since it will probably sell at least 500,000 copies.

Ahhh... I can't wait for Serenity..... Out of gas is my favorite episode. Ahhh... Why did I lend my friend Firefly for so long! I misses it so much..... Skew it I'm going over there and taking it back right NOW!

Damn you Marsman! But yeah, the show only gets better as you go along. Out of Gas is truly amazing.

The Out of Gas/Ariel/War Stories arc gets me misty just thinking about it. Damn you, Marsman! Oh and don't read any more threads with the words Firefly and Serenity until after you've watched the movie next week.

Can you imagine? Experiencing all of Firefly within a week/two week long span? While it's all so new?

That would be, like, beautiful, man.

Groovy. All I have experienced of Firefly to this point is the movie. I will be purchasing the series in short order.

I heard a rumor that sci-fi was looking at a made-for-TV movie and the possibility of a series after that. Of course, I heard it from a friend (who was a fan before I was) who heard it on the radio...

There was a thread somewhere about that a couple of days ago... can't find it though...

I watched the entire series over, maybe, five days, my first time through. I still remember how awesome that was. I enjoy the series just fine, now, but it doesn't have the same impact if you've already seen it multiple times. MORE NEW!

I was a latecomer to the series as well. At first I wasn't sure what the fuss was all about, but by 1/2 through the series I was a complete idiot for it, just like everyone else. Get ready to start working through the five stages of grief, like I did when I hit the last episode and realized Oh My God It Is Over.

Someone enquriing on the GWJ fourms about the next season of Firefly?

What we have here is a recipie for unpleasantness.

There's special levels of hell for people like you Marsman.

and apparently for people like me also who double post....

I'm sorry I stired up such pain in everyone. The next one I'll be viewing is "Our Mrs. Reynolds". I may be going home sick today at noon, still not over my food poisoning, so I may get to see it soon.
