Bioware's "Mass Effect".
Fresh from VE3D.
Bioware's brand new sci-fi IP, pitting the forces of humanity against a malign AI enemy.
Apparently the first in a trilogy of games based around an "epic universe" set 200 years in the future.
Details are scant until the official unveiling later today but it will almost certainly be "squad based" as recent Bioware games have been.
There are 4 screenshots available. They look nice enough.
More details to be added soon. Official Website probably http://masseffect.bioware.com -Access currently forbidden.
More in from IGN.
October 4, 2005 - One of the many announcements coming out of X05 today was a new IP from developer BioWare.
In September, BioWare announced it had licensed Epic's Unreal 3 engine for use in its next RPG. At that time, everyone began speculating about the possibility of a first-person shooter RPG from one of the most respected developers in North America. When asked if BioWare would ever consider making a first-person shooter RPG, the response was, "It's inevitable." BioWare also noted the game was in development for PC and an unspecified next-gen console.
At X05 today BioWare announced that the title of this game is Mass Effect and that it is currently in development for Xbox 360. We received the first screens of this newly announced IP today, so be sure to check them out on the media page.
The trailer revealed...nothing. I assume the ancient evil is in fact none other then the Dead Planet from The Fifth Element.
