Sonic The Hedgehog!

Man, I haven't played Sonic sense Sonic 3 for SEGA Genesis. Mostly due to the fact that I though the series trailed of some where, where I had no means to follow. Plus one of my classmates decided to sneak off with my copy of Sonic 3 and that was kind of the end...
However now there was an announcement about Sonic for X360 and it looks Holy Cow... AWASOME!

SEGA of America and SEGA Europe announced today the development of a brand new Sonic title, Sonic The Hedgehog, intended for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system. SEGA hopes the reinvention of this popular franchise will thrill both the long-time Sonic fans as well as a new generation of gamers with the exciting speed and action only possible on next-generation platforms.

Sonic The Hedgehog for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will be developed under the direction of Yuji Naka, award-winning developer known for creating the hugely successful SEGA franchise. With an innovative combination of art, physics and game design, SEGA and Mr. Naka expect to create the most intense sensation of speed ever experienced in videogames.

Sonic The Hedgehog for next-gen is expected to ship on multiple platforms in conjunction with the character's 15th anniversary in 2006.

There are few more screenies on their site... and if game looks that good it's a buy for me!

Please don't f*ck this up. Please don't f*ck this up. Please don't f*ck this up. Please don't f*ck this up. Please don't f*ck this up. Please don't f*ck this up. Please don't f*ck this up.

Looks like more "bullet time" to me. God, when the entertainment industry likes something, the cram it down our throats over and over and over.

After my experiences with Sonic Heroes, I'm chanting along with Edwin.

Here's a hint Sega, drop the stupid "Adventure" crap and just make levels that are fun to run through. You konw the best level of any 3D Sonic game? Speed Highway. Why? Because you ran and smashed things. Is that so hard to understand?

It's also the reason Sonic Adventure 2 was better than the first, and the reason I hated Sonic Heroes (the levels weren't focused on running and smashing things).

Yeah, when I saw that you had to raise pokemons or something in a Sonic 3d, I threw it away. What the hell, Yuji Naka, what the hell.
The first level of Sonic on the Dreamcast was pretty cool, skateboarding down a street after dropping from a helicopter? That's neat.

I just hope they work out a better control scheme. All of the 3D sonic games felt really awkward to me.

3D, ability to move in 360 directions, and moving really fast have never really gelled yet for the series...

Sonic CD is still my favorite one of the series. I enjoyed the 3D element of the newer ones, but none of the extra crap (pokemon raising as Mex said).
