GWJFL Summer Week 8

that works see you then

Not on this computer, but you can use Legion's Xfire to get a hold of me. I should be around at about that time, so we can roll then, or an hour or two later, or whenever. I don't have to be in class tomorrow 'till eleven, so I can be up as late as needed.

That's not a very positive "um." Say it with feeling!

Bagga, can we postpone? I'm currently sitting at the final table of an online poker tournament to win Lions Season Tickets. I probably won't win, but I really don't want to be doing both playing and losing to you.

If I get done at a reasonable hour, I'll post and maybe we can still play tonight. Otherwise, maybe Monday or Tuesday night?

*Legion*, It is now 10:17 I will beon Rainbowsix into I see you on. If invite me when you get on through your friends, invite then I come meet you on the lobby.

Oh my god, I'm so lucky. For some reason I thought I scheduled 10:30. Then, just now, I realized I said 10. Then I saw your message. Phew! Yeah, go ahead and win with your bad self; though I thought they *gave* away Lions season tickets If you can't play tonight, we'll reschedule... no biggie.

Well Bags, out of 300+ people, I got 3rd place, and a $100 gift certificate to some sort of restaurant certificate.

But, I'm really tired... can we still plan on Monday or Tuesday night?

Nice game, Logan.

The once mighty Ravens have fallen to 4-4. And a continued slide seems likely...

Nice to see you did well, too bad you couldn't take down KGB. Here's a hint: It's all in what he does with the Oreos. Tomorrow night I have a hockey game, so maybe tuesday night? If you didn't have a pesky day job I could play during the day as well.

Ruthless and I got our game in, it was a close one and I got lucky being that both Moss and Harrison had a severe case of the dropsies. I also got a safety that put me up 9 - 7 thanks to a delayed shovel pass that was just a little too delayed.

Good game!

Great game, firesloth.

A very, very defensive game with a new halfback (DeShaun Foster, from Carolina) made position and time of possession a critical factor in the 13-9 Atlanta victory over Baltimore.

T.J. Duckett and Warrick Dunn, the Falcons' two starting halfbacks with widely separate running styles were both out with injuries (muscle tear, fracture respectively). On the Falcons' defense, defensive end Patrick Kersey was also put on the injury list (muscle pull).

On the Baltimore twenty-three, a critical error in judgement resulted in a Vick interception. Three punts and a Falcons fumble had possession bouncing back and forth until the middle of the second quarter, where a third down stand had forced the Ravens to attempt a forty yard field goal.

Right on the snap Allen Rossum sped past the right offensive end and jumped in front of the kick to block it, right in the hands of special teamsman Siddeeq Shabazz, who shrugged past bewildered Ravens to rumble, bumble and stumble from the Atlanta twenty-four to the Baltimore thirty-nine. A quick pass on a blitz to Dez White and a burst up the middle from fullback Justin Griffith resulted in first blood, an Atlanta touchdown, to bring it to 7-0.

The next drive Baltimore Jamal Lewis and Todd Heap amounted to an eighty yard drive down the field until a crucial sack and two great plays of coverage put the field goal team out for another forty-yard attempt. This time, Stover made with Rossum narrowly missing his second block. 7-3, Atlanta.

A blown coverage results in a sixty-one yard Travis Traylor catch to bring the Baltimore Ravens ahead of the Falcons for the first time in the game, 9-7.

Yes, 9.

"I don't know what happened," Matt Stover shook his head to reporters. "I saw Rossum at the corner of my eye, wanted to get the kick off quick... and I got it off a little two quick. Hit the uprights. What can you do? He was there."

For the rest of the third quarter, it was position. Both sides punted to each other and left the Falcons on their own sixteen at the start of the fourth quarter.

The next drive - other than a Michael Vick seventeen yard run, DeShaun Foster ran the rest of the way, pounding his head against the Ravens wall until a shot up the middle and a few good moves to evade the secondary resulted in a Foster twenty-two yard touchdown to bring it 13-9. The Falcons went for two with nothing to lose and failed.

On the final Ravens drive, it looked at first with a couple of quick completions that Baltimore would have a shot at pulling it off. Boller made four good attempts, but the Falcons' secondary were in on every pass, knocking each and every one of them to put in the final nails in the Ravens' coffin.

A first down finished it off, and the Falcons knelt to end the game, 13-9.

Foster ended it with 124 yards on twenty-four carries.

Vick had all of 65 yards passing and 32 yards rushing, but says coach Rapp, "he got 'em when it counted."

Well, the big game was no big game. As Legion* was dominating on Offense and on Defense. *Legion* is a good player, thanks for the game. I could have done without the last touchdown to run up the score. But hey atleast you and the guys in the backround, got a good laugh. You said you wouldn't have done it if I didn't call the time out, tell me what team wouldn't? I needed to do somthing, you would two or three plays made a differense to you no. But to me hey I scored 17 or 13 you still win by 50. Nice win I will remember next time.

What team wouldn't? A team that wants to let the other guys finish running out the clock. It's common for teams to not call their last time-outs in games where they don't have a chance at winning.

By calling a time-out with 40 seconds left, you tried to help stop me from running out the clock. Well, you got your wish.

Two or three plays would have made a difference, because I was just calling dive plays to put the ball in play. After the time-out, I ran the tosses and stuff to get around the defense. The difference was that I changed my play-calls in response.

If I really wanted to run the score up, I would have, oh, I don't know, PASSED the ball in the 4th quarter. After the 1st play in the 4th, every single playcall by me was a run. Don't know how much more "running out the clock" it gets than that.

Anyway, Frankie played a good game. Toomer was tough to cover, but I went out of my way to keep the ball from Shockey. Being able to stop one of them was enough. It was a rainy game and that probably helped my case in that endeavour. Frankie got a couple good runs going with Buckhalter, but just didn't run the ball early enough, especially in the rainy conditions.

I'm proud of my line for allowing only one sack, as Frankie's G-Men brought the house more than a few times. Just managed to get rid of the ball in time, and thankfully Leftwich didn't get hurt on any of the shots he took.

The game was still in doubt until the 4th quarter, so it's not like it was a steamroll for the whole game. I was always worried about a couple quick TDs turning tables around quickly.

Legion*, good win.

Thanks. Good luck in your game against Ruthless in a couple weeks.

Thin, I can play tonight before GR2SS, Let me know.

Hey, Certis I sent you a trade, when you get a chance take a look.

Will do Frankie!

Hello.

It has recently come to my attention that I am a sucker, a chump, a person with a weak will. I've found that I cannot say no to Swampy when it comes to Online Sporting Leagues. Because of this disturbing character flaw, I find myself sitting in the owner's chair of the San Diego Chargers.

Allow myself to introduce... myself. My name is Demi, and I know very little about football. The line to beat me like a San Andreas hooker starts... here.

Looking at the first post in this sweaty, dirty, pigskin-scented thread, it looks like first dibs on kicking my ass goes to Grumpy. Oh good. Because he's not, like, 45 times better than me or anything. Well that's okay. I stand defiant, like David before Goliath, or a candy bar at a fat camp. When do you wanna play, Grumps?

Come get some.

I ended up working late Swamp.

I'm definitely still on for 9 tomorrow evening though.

9 EST tonight it is. I look forward to our game, it should be a close fight.

That's not all he can't say no to!

Lothar, let's try for 10 PM Wednesday night. If I'm not online by 10:15 then I probably got screwed over by my ISP.
