Woohoo!

I was getting so tired of thinking about what I I want to do with my offense, that is is going to be a blast to actually do something with it tonight. Right now, I'm leaning towards the Baylor spread offense. I'm just excited to have a week 1 game.

Time to show some Texas high school kids why the Pony Express is where they want to ride.

BAM!!! 6 Insta-Commits 4, 5* players......

***wakes up***

Oh man, I had the best dream you guys....

I had a dream Shonuff beat you 68-3. And that's only because instead of kneeling, Northwestern's kicker turned around booted an "own goal" as time expired.

I looked through the coaches names you guys created, some went real names, some went made up.

My favorite made up name:

SMU's head coach: Jay Hawker.

That's awesome

Firesloth, I hate to be a pain, but can you do me a quick favor? Can you drop, I will reinvite you, and when you sign back in, create a coach before selecting Notre Dame. You don't have to use your real name, but since you used the default coach, it gave you a higher coach rating than the rest of us.

You didn't know, neither did I, so no worries. I know you weren't trying to get a higher rating on purpose. I'm just glad I caught it now.

Hopefully this makes up for all my mistakes setting up the league, but somehow, I doubt it, lol.

*EDIT*
Firesloth, I will boot you, and reinvite you. Just in case you start to recruit before seeing this

BTW, if this doesn't work, we can just roll with it. I am hoping it does, I also hope you don't have to recreate your draft board. My apologies if you do.

We all have D+ ratings as coaches. I see some of us have different contracts as well. Michigan gave Leroy a 4 year contract, while Northwestern shafted Shonuff with a 1 year deal.

So if Shonuff beats Leroy, I think Northwestern should give him an extension with no questions asked, lol.

I've been doing that in a lot of the sports games I play in recent years. Golfer in TW, My Players and GM's in MLB 2K11, and such. It was cool to see other guys doing similar stuff with their coach names. I was hoping everyone would sign up as a coach.

But Jay Hawker works better than my old two name moniker, Silas Lang, which comes from a Syd Barret song that according to the liner notes, was recorded on the same day I was born. Tom Young is just too boring.

I almost mentioned in the other thread about firesloth thinking he was anointed by God or something, but I decided it wasn't a big enough of a deal to worry about. It will mainly affect recruiting, I suppose. Hopefully it will let him sign-up as a new coach.

I'm so stoked too! I'm gonna have to wing it on offense - I am lost at this point. If all else fails I can blame it on the offensive coordinator and hope the computer fires him.

Rutgers is done with their Week 1 recruiting, so I guess I am done first. HUZZAH!!!!

Recruiting is done and I will get my game in once the kids are asleep!

Boot me, and I'll try to rejoin tonight.

Already done buddy. Sorry for the inconvenience, and I hope it works and it's not for nothing, lol.

Eh, no worries. It's not a big deal.

EDIT: It remembered my recruits...

I picked up two 3* insta-commits already. I picked up a DE and DT, and hopefully will be the beginning of a beter DL.

Nabbed a 4* TE. Not too bad. Should be a solid recruiting year to start.

I'll have to jump on this tomorrow night. Didn't get a chance tonight.

Marshall did not get any insta-commits, however the first game was going down to the wire, that is....until that damn red light started flashing on the front of the xbox. It was just the one light meaning a hard drive failure, not the dreaded RROD. Still...its happening more often than before (anyone know how to fix this without spending a fortune?). I hope to have the issue resolved when I get home from work tomorrow and get the game in before bed tomorrow night.

whoa....I was looking at the schedule for Marshall...you do realize that they are barely a 2 star school, right Kush? I am an ok football player, but I honestly think I will be lucky to walk away with 4 wins this season. Stanford...WVU....Tennessee...Rutgers...I mean...ouch. It will be interesting to see how my season turns out.

On a different note, I got the failure light to go off and the xbox is running again.

The first game of the season is in: ND defeats MSU 28-27 on a 2 point conversion with 34 seconds left in the game. This game had pretty much everything: lots of lead changes, a few INTs, good HB and QB play, long kickoff returns, etc. It was as close as Counselar and I always play...that is, heart-stoppingly close. Indeed, MSU had 30 seconds left in the game and was driving down field. Luckily, ND's standout MLB snagged an INT to seal the game

The player of the game was Chris Weber (pronounced like Chris Webber; I'll add a b to his name just to make sure it's clear), ND's HB who ran for 196 yards on 25 carries. ND unveiled their "multiple" offense, and the running game worked well for them. They got help from the passing game when they needed it. Greg Broussard (ND QB) had 149 yards on 12-25 passing. Not great, but just good enough.

MSU also ran the ball very well, with Tony Frank rushing for 147 yards on 17 attempts...that's 8.6 yards per carry, for those who can't do long division in their heads. Josh Coe (QB) had a harder day with 6-18 passing, though he gained more yards than his ND counterpart with 168.

Counselar -- Great game as always.

So...I just played one of the most exciting games I've had in the game. But it is FROZEN at the "Player of the Game" screen!!

I was down 21-0 and kicked a FG before halftime to make it 21-3. I finally figured out how to play offense and won 30-21.

Is there a way to Sim it to get the result or do I have to play it again??

I'm so bummed!!

UGH! So lesson learned. I was hitting "a" after the game because I was so excited...so this time I watched all the highlights, and it worked. I was pissed the whole time, but I pulled it out 23-21. They even got the onside kick at the end. I would have cried if they had won.

Great game, Firesloth.

I knew what you were doing on that 2 point conversion attempt, and adjusted my defense for it, but couldn't stop you. I wasn't in a great formation, and probably should have called a timeout, but oh well. The Spartans will just have to take it out on Michigan.

I did get two instant commitments from D-linemen, so watch out next year.

Yeah, I know, but I also couldn't dumb down the conference too much. Stanford wasn't my doing, the XBox definitely screwed you on that one, since they're in the other division. But I did help you out on the non-conference games.

Plus, WVU is a rival, and Rutgers is a 3 star school that's ranked like 73rd. If some people would have stuck with their NCAA11 school, I wouldn't have had to add Tennessee to the mix.

Also remember to add highlights from your game. I am going to start collecting those highlights on a daily basis, so I don't have to drown in highlights at the end of the season.

Also might do some high profile matchup previews for later in the season (IE, Rutgers vs Tennessee).

Zell, I would trade schedules in a heartbeat.

I have a four game stretch late in the season that has me playing @ #11 Wisconisin, vs. #6 Ohio State, @ #21 Notre Dame, and vs. #28 Penn State. And earlier I have #14 TCU and #16 Nebraska rolling into town. With Notre Dame and TCU being human controlled (well something approximating human controlling Notre Dame ), I will hav e my hands full.

Although Big Hoppa is probably happy to face me with a better team now. This could be a fun rivalry, as TCU sure pops up on a lot of my kids' lists. And it is an in-game rivalry game, too.

I played North texas in an exhibition game last night to get into the groove. I wanted to play it for real after, but t he servers were down.

Thank God it was an exhibition!. After going up 21-3, and looking like I was going to steamroll the team, as I should, things got offtrack. Suddenly it was 21-19, my HB was out for the game, and could not stop their scrambling QB to save my life. I won the game, but had to hold on for a 28-22 win. I did have a TD called back on a holding call.

I has a lot of penalties, as did NT. Well, both teams were around 60-80 yards in penalties. So it was realistic, and fun to have it affect the game so much.

I will get the real deal in tonight.

Last year, that 2 point conversion call would have been a toss. Period. I suppose 20% of the time it may have been a cutback run. Those were money plays in this situation. I don't think that's true anymore, especially for the toss. So, that 2 point conversion was a stretch play. Still an outside run, but not one of the things you would have seen last season. I think that represents some progress on the part of the game!

I did get two instant commitments from D-linemen, so watch out next year.

I hate you. I can't seem to muster up any attention from DL players this season. Ugh.

The Spartans will just have to take it out on Michigan.

Go Sparty!

I grabbed Firesloth's highlights, going to do Counselar's before I leave work. I think as they come in will be much easier than all at once Saw both sets of replays, looked like a fun game last night.

Yeah; I put in one of Counselar's nice plays, forgetting about my 66 yard TD scamper in the first quarter!

Some of those highlights were at crucial times. The 35 yard play to WR Brent Jones happened after a monster sack left me with 2nd-and-26. The last two plays were my last TD with 34 sec left and the resulting 2 point conversion. Notice on the TD play that LB #10 didn't jump 15' in the air to swat the ball down!!!

Two of Counselar's highlights were nearly killers. That 66 yard pass over the middle when I had him backed up 2nd-and-13 from the 5 yard line...man, that was crushing. The DE intercepting the screen pass when I was at my own 20 yard line was also not something I expected...at all. He was standing right there, but I just didn't think he'd be that athletic.

I'll get highlights next time, I was too worried about it freezing again to save any! Thanks.
