Forza Challenge Of The Week *updated 8 June*

Tenchid beat my time by like... 11 hundredths of a second.

Now it's on.

I don't get it (I'm pretty dense sometimes), I buy an Elise 135, buy upgrades to B1, Paint it. But when I try to use it for this, all I get is a generic E 135. I tried to see if there was some clever way I can download the set-up to use it, but can't seem to do that either. What's the deal, we just use the default and just tune it? Or am I missing something again?

Make sure you are using the one from your personal car collection and not the generic "Class B" selection.

Had it been the other way around I would have been giggling a little bit too.

Just FYI this challenge chaps my ass.

If either of you top runners would care to share a bit of your setup methodology on this one, I'd love it. My CRX is so awful at turns that I weep a bit every time I turn the wheel.

Adjust your tire pressure, especially on the front tires.

Do what you can to get rid of understeer. It's the bane of all front-wheel drive cars.

Why am I helping you again? Didn't you win last week?

I haven't even been able to inch past Tenchid's (curse you!) time. I definitely don't need more competition.

I still can't get over the .011 second difference in our times. Nothing in this game has frustrated me more yet than this tiny gap that seems so impossible to cross.

*edit*
You know what makes it so frustrating?

Running a 2:16 first lap(!!!!!!) which should put me on par for a 4:32 or maybe a bit more or less total time right? Right?

Wrong. Follow that absolutely awesome first lap run with a completely mediocre attempt at the second lap, and you get a controller-throwing-worthy 4:37.003 run.

I still haven't even beat the time I set with my relatively crap-tacular WingsWest Civic.

Be careful of your engine choice. There are two that initially seem superior to all the others, but they end up being pretty bad choices for a car that you want to stay in the C-Class.

Once I figured out my engine choice, the faster times weren't so hard. After that you're down to tuning your gearing and handling.

Never have a seen a game that was so sensitive to tuning. I was hitting the 4:40's and late 4:30's, but couldn't break about 4:38. Tuned a bit more and finally found a setup that gave me predictable decent turns and still allowed me good speed. You may come and get me.

I created a monster by giving him this game! Give it back so maybe I can win for once!!!

Who the not confident in what?

Also: I stopped trying the challenge about an hour after that post, and haven't bothered with it again since. Winning was no longer worth the frustration it was causing me when I could actually be having fun just progressing through the career.

I'd kiss a monkey for challenges with "Stock" cars or pre-determined setups. I love the driving and the friendly competition of those challenges but I suck at tuning, mainly because I have very little interest in it.

I'm hoping that when the winner posts their setup for this one, I'll have a better idea what I should be trying to change, going forward. Seemed like the last race was all about speed, while with this one speed and handling were important. I just haven't had the time to mess around with tuning very much. There is an option on the scoreboard to download a person's setup or replay, but I wasn't able to successfully do that. Maybe it's only the top 10 overall or something where that works.

I had a heck of a time after running this track over and over with a tuned car that it completely messed me up when I tried running the classic sports professional series. Darn that old Vette (stock) is hard to handle on Laguna Seca.

As requested, tonight's new challenge will have a stock car in it.

Greenie Sanjuro

Now that is some hot, forza-induced man-lust!

You could do that pretty easily just by specifying doing one of the Time Trial races. Specific track, specific car. Just FYI if you didn't know.

My only problem with this is that I despise some of the car choices they made in those races.

For instance: on the speedway track they give you the Chrysler ME-412 and dare you to keep it moving on the track without letting the rear end slide all over the place and send you into a wall.

There are others where I would pick the race because I liked the track, see the car the game was going to force me to drive it with, and then I would just quit and not even bother.

I simply cannot beat my WingsWest Civic time. Lookin' like no points for me this week. Grr. Still an hour left, though.

Sorry for the delay, fellas. Had a busier than expected day with school so far, and now I'm at work. Final results and new challenge will go up after I get home tonight.
