Forza Challenge Of The Week *updated 8 June*

Pages

The nice thing about the car clubs and online scoreboards in Forza is that we can do competitive stuff amongst ourselves without being online at the same time.

So here's my idea: every Wednesday, we post an event for everyone to try their hand at with the same car. The following Wednesday, I'll put the top 5 times up in this thread, and the winner gets some respect (until the next week, anyway) and a picture of a monkey. You race whenever's convenient for you and if you can't get around to it one week, no foul. So without further ado...

GWJ Car Club Challenge - Week of 8 June, 2005
Series: Amateur Races
Event: Hatchback Challenge - Blue Mountains Raceway II, 3.1 miles. 2 laps.
Car: Honda CRX-Si
Limitations: Cannot tune vehicle past class C1

Deadline: 1159 PST, June 14

Notes: CRXes can be bought at the Honda dealer for cheap. Keep in mind when you're tuning your CRX that there are several engines available to swap out, each with their own advantages and disadvantages.
Remember, you have to be logged into XBox Live when you make your run for your time to post to the online scoreboard. Make as many runs as you like, only your best time will be uploaded. Also remember that in the 'Race Select' screen, you can hit 'x' to toggle your friend's times on the scoreboard, and 'y' brings up a detailed view.

I still need my club invite! Xbox tag is Yankeefan4444

Best so far is 3:02.430 and that's with one spinout. Gotta do better. I know 2:45 is within my grasp...

Make it 2:43.772. It was a nice run.

Yeah, I really like this. My girlfriend is very needy and I would have trouble making any kind of arranged event. However, this works out well and also rewards good modding and tuning. I accept your challange, Sanjuro!!

Edited for stupidity

Wow, great initiative Sanjie. You rawk!

I tuned up a lotus and raced the track twice. The second time I got a time of 2:38:211. Now y'all have something to shoot for

Which Elise are we using specifically the base one or the 311B(or whatever) version?

Wow...fantastic idea Sanjuro! Haven't had the chance to meet up with you all yet, but this way I can at least try to compete:)

Yeah, the base elise. I believe that it is the second car on the Lotus list. Like Sanj said, it sells for 25,000 if you are based in Asia, probably cheaper in Europe.

I'll give this a shot today.

*edit*
2:38.995 is my time.

And here I was thinking I had a good run and you knock a full 5 seconds off... sheesh

That time doesn't show up on Live, it shows you with a 2:39.221. Were you logged in when you ran the time you mentioned?

I ask because it's mis-reporting a time I just posted as well. When I finished the race the game told me I ran a 1:35.293, but on the Live scoreboard it shows a 2.36:687.

So not fair.

Great idea! Thanks for the initiative Sanj'.

Hmm, could have sworn it was 2:38, but 2:39 is probably correct if that is what is showing up.

I just edited my post because it's mis-reported two runs for me in a row by a second plus. I'm not sure what the deal is. I didn't incur any off-track penalties or anything. Kind of frustrating eh? Regardless, that's likely what happened to your run.

I picked up an Elise and upgraded it to B1 last night but haven't raced it yet. If I can unlock that race this week I'll give it a shot.

And again. A 2:33 run upped to a 2:34 by some silliness with Live.

This is more frustrating than it should be. I suppose it's still fair, given that it's probably going to tack a second onto everyone's times. I just don't understand why it's doing that.

Are you using any driving aides, J? It might do that to give hardcore people a little advantage.

If you watch replays of the top 10 racers on any given track, you can watch the little traction control and ABS lights flash on and off on all of them. I've watched quite a few replays and downloaded several car setups myself, and found absolutely nothing to indicate to me that any of the people posting awesome times on the tracks aren't using the driving aids too.

Also, this time mis-reporting thing never started until today. They've always been dead on before and I've never once turned off traction control or any of that stuff.

I don't use driving aides and it bumped up my time, so I don't think that is the problem.

WTF? That's kinda weird. I was so tired when my time posted last night, I wasn't paying close enough attention to really catch on if that had happened to me. All I knew at the moment was that I was still slower than Dutty. I'm gonna email the Forza people with this thread's url, and see if we can't get an answer.

I have to concur with Thin' not so much in watching replays, but when playing with folks that appear to be hot racer's and hang together. On several occasions they started talking to each other about set-up's and etc. and almost all of them use automatic shift which really surprised me. Thinking manual would etch out a few more seconds. But guess not. And they were mostly using the 'line' driving aide too. These folks were posting some smoking times too. But this was in D and C class. But it sounded like that race all classes depending on their mood or wether they were fine tuning this particular class of car of theirs (they definitely do alot of tuning)

Waitasecond... are you guys using the driving aids? The only one I'm using is ABS because I got really tired of being so completely outbraked by the AI.

It just occurred to Certis and I that threads regarding Forza Motorsport would be better placed in the Sports forum, so off they go.

You mean that Certis yelled at you and you have submitted to his authority

Also, I dig the new MC Pee Pants avatar!

What about my sig?!

The new avatar was directly inspired by the sig; I ain't gonna lie.

I broke the 2:40:000 mark, but I'm still six tenths of a second behind Dutty, and waaaay behind Cabbot's time. Back to the garage after work tonight.

This is fun.

Anyone else getting an error everytime they try to download a replay?

No replays except for the top 10 I think, as it was in PGR2.
