Malcolm Glazer rules Manchester United

I'm wondering how the Brits on the forum feel about it?

They are saying some crazy things about the guy, including that he is to Manxhester United like Hitler was to Europe!

I'll tell you this he took the Bucs worth abouth 100 milli9on and built it up to 800 million or so.

So, I think he is going to increasse the worth of the team over time.

I hate listening to the crying over this one.

Makes me wish Glazer gives them jerseys that say "It's Called Soccer" and "This Sport Is Bollocks". Then the limeys would have something worth crying about.

Problem is, the fans don't really give a damn about how financially successful the club is... other than they'd better be able to go toe to toe with Chelsea next season by buying up every soccer phenom they can find.

By the way, did anyone else catch any of the games Sunday with all the survival frenzy going on? I liked watching McBride score two goals, but felt badly for Norwich, because anyone who's on a sports team called the "Canaries" needs all the damn love they can get, really. Anyway, thank god for Fox Soccer Channel!

EDIT: Here's a link to BBC Sports take on the bid, if anyone happens to be interested, but confused what the fuss is... I can see why it's pretty alarming to the ManU fans. The part where he can load up any sort of debt he likes onto the club is particularly worrisome. I can't imagine why he would, mind you, but it's not particularly reassuring.

It's about a lot more than that of course. I don't believe the TB fans are very enamored with Glazer, and the fact that the man has sued family already doesn't settle well with people. They view Manchester as being about a lot more than the Bottom Line, and aren't exactly thrilled with the Team-Moving, Holding-A-City-To-Ransom-For-A-New-Stadium facets of American sports that we're all so used to. Plus there's the fact that, with Chelsea having won (Read: Bought) the title already this season with the influence of Roman Abramovic's billions, well, there's a lot to consider.

I watched the highlights afterwards Wounder. I've been tracking McBride ever since he left for Fulham and always enjoy watching him score. Personally though, I was pulling for Crystal Palace to stay up, mainly because I really, really like Iain Dowie. I was thinking of starting a thread for the UEFA Champions League Final, but I didn't know how many interested parties there were. Plus, with the other football ruling the roost here, I figured there'd be three actual posts and 10 "This isn't a real sport" posts.

Yeah, well... hell with 'em, I say! I enjoy soccer, particularly the variety played in Europe and am willing to ramble on at the slightest provocation about it.

I'm a fan of Mr. Dowie as well... I thought he did brilliantly with what he had available to him this season and sincerely hope he's around and able to get that team back in the Premiership.

I'd suggest setting up some sort of soccer game league, but as you say, I doubt there's much interest and sadly, I tend to suck mightily at all versions of the game I've played since I was five (video versions, anyway). It's fairly depressing, really.

EDIT: Err, sorry.... no idea what happened there.

Do you remember Hugh Culverhouse?

PWNED!

That made my day so far.

EDIT: And once again...

If some moderator type can delete the two duplicate posts, that'd be keen.

Uh, no. I don't have any goddamn idea who that is. Although i'm googling him and finding out that not only is he dead, but he owned TB before Glazer, which means, no matter what, Glazer was an improvement.

An online league would've been fun Wounder, although with WE8 not having online support on the XBox, it'd be out, since there's no way in hell i'm playing the crapfest that is FIFA these days. I do get in the EPL whenever I can, although i'm making a real effort this year to throw myself behind the MLS and the Metrostars. Gotta support your local team and all. New thread, away!

Glazer was an improvement.

Hugh Culverhouse made Vince Naimoli look like George Steinbrenner. There was a reason the Bucs were so bad, for so long, and it was him. The Glazer family saved the franchise. Sure, he is a ruthless business man and looks like the lucky charms dude, but he made the Bucs a winning team(for a good while at least, they are going to get beat like a drum again this year).
