GWJ AL - Week 3

Good game, muffin. My pitching was no match for you bevy of sluggers. May they burn in hell.

Warlock, you''re going down buddy!

Quite possibly. I''ll probably be pitching Robertson or Jason Johnson... not exactly my top pitchers. Plus, my relief is looking a little bit... fatigued.

But, from the looks of it, my batters won''t have to worry about striking out!

Well... it''s later, but would around 10-10:15pm CST work for you? Either that or earlier in the day it would have to be, like before 4PM (I have a final at 4 then work till 10). Let me know what you think.

10 pm YOUR TIME = 11 HERE. That''s cool. See you then.

Well, Green maximized on a stupid play (he ran his first base runner to second behind another runner, at which point my third baseman, who had the ball, tossed it to first for the easy out - of course, Green runs the second base runner to third instead of the first base runner back to first, so he gets an extra base for both runners, and sets up a two run inning) to beat my Tigers 3-0.

I don''t know whether Green pitched a good game or whether I hit a HORRIBLE one. But, it was one of the two.

I have a complaint. Green''s pitchers were all rested (except for one) and yet ALL of the pitchers I''ve pitched in the first two games (including the closers, who only came in for an inning or so a piece) were fatigued and unpickable. Then, the game also decides to move Franklyn German from middle relief to starter, essentially giving me 7 starters and 3 closers, 2 of which (as I''ve said) were fatigued. Green graciously let me bend the ""Starters are Starters"" rule to pitch German in the 7th and 8th, but what gives? Yeah, I''m pitching the guys until they''re tired, and I can understand that the starters would need a few days to rest, but my closers? 2 games of fatigue off of one inning of pitching? That doesn''t seem right.

Anyways, good game, Green. You dirty bastard.

I agree. I used a closer for 4 batters, and he was out for 2 games. I like the idea of pitcher fatigue, I would not want to play without it - but that is ridiculous.

Reading the official boards, I think this is the deal.

When you pitch a starter 1-3 innings, he''s going to be fatigued for 1 game. 4-6, and he''ll be fatigued for 2, and 7 or more, and he''ll be fatigued for 3. That is, of course, on top of any other wear-and-tear injury he might get, though I haven''t noticed any of that.

I think the reason Green''s pitchers were mostly healthy is because his last week''s game was decided without being played. So, in essence, he didn''t pitch ANYONE.

Here''s the rub, though: relievers get affected just as much as starters. So you might pitch an inning and a half, and be fatigued for two games. And that''s just something that shouldn''t happen.

What a lot of leagues do, from the sound of it, is the commissioner can go in and reset the fatigue for the relief pitchers after he''s advanced the week. That way, your starters still have to follow a normal rotation (only being able to be pitched 1 out of every 3 or 4 games) but your middle relief and closers should be able to do their job.

What are people''s thoughts on this?

Great idea. We should do that. Is it possible to use the h0onor system for middle relievers? i.e. Your starter gets shelled and pulled in the 3rd, so you go to a long reliever for innings 3-8, that reliever should stay fatigued, but your closer who pitched the 9th should not. The owners can post in the weeks thread who should stay fatigued and who should get ""reset"".

EDIT: Warlock, I don''t know who else''s games have yet to be played, but Romulox and I are going to try to play our game tonight at 11 EST.

Oh man I got so freakin lucky there it''s not even funny, but jeebus, the baserunning is stupid, retarded and f*cked up beyond all reason. When you have men on first and second base, common sense would make you think that pressing the left trigger will advance the guy on second, or both even, but not the guy on first with the dumbass on second standing still! Did they even play the freakin game before releasing it? Anyway, thanks for your bad luck there Warluck.

Listen to this. Warlock is behind 0-3, 1 out, finally gets a single, steals second, goes for the hit and run, pops a fly right in my third baseman hands just as the runner passes by for the double play. At that point, I really thought Warlock was going to toss his Xbox out the window, or something.

I hope you still like me buddy.

Oh man, that play pissed me off. I mean, I was playing aggressively (had to at that point) but throw me a freaking bone... one foot higher, and your guy would have either had to jump to catch the ball and not be able to make the tag, or the ball would have gone over his head and I would have scored a run. Especially after SO MANY damned infield dribblers, it would have been nice to see something get out of the infield for a change.

EDIT: Swampy, your game''s the last to be played. I''ll advance the league before I go to bed tonight, or first thing tomorrow.

Did he laugh like a maniac? That''s what he usually does. Be glkad your not in the hockey league, where he makes you watch the replays of his goals ad nauseam.

Please check the boards first if it looks like we had another disconnect, we''ll agree on how we should handle it and we''ll tell you there afterwards.

Tanks!

I''ll make sure you actually played the game. Silly goose.

And THAT is precisely why YOU are my number 1 bitch.

Warlock, we tried again to play our game, but the connection was Lagtastic.

I had just played hockey against Psycho, and that was fine, and based upon my conversation with Romulox, I''m pretty sure it was at his end.

Romulox, nice chatting with you anyways, I hope someday we can play a full game. Are you close enough to Reaps that you could play your games there?

Yeah, I was thinking of that. I''ll talk to Reap tomorrow at work and I''ll ask him if I can do that. The problem with that is it could be a pain to schedule games when I''m not busy and he''s around. I''ll see what he thinks, and if he''s alright with it that could be the solution to my craptastic connection problem...

I am positive it is my connection, and I''m pissed about it. I apologize that we weren''t able to get this game in.

Is there any particular reason why this wk is taking so long??Not trying to sound lick a dick and I realize gaming is secondary but it's hard to keep interest when 4 games take almost 2 wks to play..I've enjoyed the guys I've met and played but at this rate we won't be finished till the end of the summer...Not sure how everybody feels about this but in another league I'm in the commish resets the pitchers every 3 games to keep guys rotations in working order. FYI - If 1 particular team gets 2 low in pitchers it will freeze up the league until the rosters have been reset..

Is there any particular reason why this wk is taking so long??

Well, quite a few things. Mostly, Romulox is having connection problems, and his game with SwampYankee needed to be reset. Then, GWJ went down for more than two days. For many of us, this is our only way of communicating with each other, so for all I know, Romulox and Swampy intended to reschedule, but couldn't. I'll advance the week tonight (sorry Romulox, but for now I'm gonna have to give Swampy the win - we'll figure out what the best bet it as far as your connection, etc).

Well, on Tuesday night I posted this...

And Swampy was the only one to respond. My feeling is that a team should have enough starters to keep up with a 4 game rotation, but that I'd like to see about resetting relievers after every week... if there's a way to get really specific, resetting all relievers except for the one/ones you used that night. Can we get a consensus on whether or not this is a good idea?

The NL is just advancing today too, King. I think it was just the site being down that has people a bit off.

I know I am NL but I say we rest the relievers. It is ridiculous that relivers can be out up to 2 games for pitching an inning or two.

I am going to adopt this in the NL (If I can find how to do it). It is not going to a vote. Starters, however, will stay out.

Both leagues' weeks have been long due to circumstances beyound control. Hopefully, we won't have any glitches after this.

Warlock, I'd say as a base just relievers. It would be eally intense for you, but if is technically possible, you could reset the relievers specified by guys after there games (so a lguy used for long relief would need to be rested). But whatever you decide is cool. Because you're cool. Yes, you.

I would definitely be in favour of either ideas when it come's to resetting the pitchers. Whichever one the powers that be decide is cool with me. Btw Kudos to the people who were involed in the revamping of this site, Great job Guys...

Fair enough. I'll see what I can find out about how to reset them. For the time being, if you could list who you pitched (middle relievers, setup, closers) and how many innings they pitched, I'll make a decision based on that as far as whether or not to reset them... or, if I can't get that specific, I'll just reset them after each week.

I'll post this in the Week 4 thread... Certis, feel free to lockify.
