Green Bay @ Indianapolis

Firesloth, you're the next contestant on Ground the Jets. Any day after 2100 CST is usually good for me.

Grump,

Happy to participate in that (grounding the Jets).

I''m away from my X-box until Sunday. I miss it dearly. I probably need to wait until Monday to play.

Maybe we can look for Monday or Tuesday night right at 2100 CST?

Sure. Let''s aim for Monday and have Tuesday as a fallback.

Wow, people keep interesting hours. I''m at a telescope observing in Hawaii. So, I''m 5 hours behind the East Coast and staying up all night.

I post a message while trying to stay awake after midnight Hawaii time... And Grump replies to my message.

Not just that, but I log onto Xbox.com and see that Legion is playing NFL2K5. IT''S 1 AM HST, 3 AM PST, and 6AM EST on FRIDAY MORN!

Hardcore...

(I wonder if this means that Legion isn''t as relaxed about that loss to Jacksonville as we were lead to believe?)

frankiemumbles, I can play Sunday evening by appointment, Monday evening at 10, and Tuesday evening at 10. If none of those times work, I mightbe able to squeeze in a Saturday afternoon game. All times EST.

Heh, not quite. It was on idling. I was intending to take the game out and put in a DVD, and I got distracted and left it on for a while. I''m afraid I wasn''t in a game.

Though it doesn''t sound like a bad idea right now. My allergies attacked and I''m flat out not sleeping tonight. Gotta ""get up"" in a couple of hours and sleep just ain''t happening between now and then.

Fletcher-- when would you like your win? Friday and Saturday are pretty much dead to me, but I''m open pretty much anytime on Sunday. I''ll have to look at my schedule for next week...

Highlander - tonight? Tomorrow? Sunday? All are good for me.

Maybe tonight. But my wife and I will have to watch Battlestar Galatica first.

Hey if we do play tonight, you want to play a baseball game after the football game?

Looks like it''s you and me PsychoKillerz, I can''t play anything until Sunday evening but next week looks pretty clear, let me know what works for you!

Thin,

You have been PM''d. See yah on the gridiron.

Grumpy and I may go at 11 PM EST tonight, so I could go at 10, but that would leave no time for baseball. We could play some baseball anytime this weekend. I''d like to.

SquirrellMonkey I can go Mon-Thu 7pm-1am PST or Saturday during the day let me know when your available.

Swampy, can you give me till just a little after 10 eastern (9 central). Maybe like 10:05 or 10:10?

Pigpen will you be back this week to play the frighteningly bad Tampa Bay Buccaneers? How did I get stuck with them - oh thats right I succumbed to the power of ""whiny - threatening"" Certis :)... Given this leagues settings I probably would have made new England stinky as well :).

The Chiefs came up big against the Steelers, taking out frustrations from a bad loss to the Ravens the week before. But too little too late as far as the playof picture goes.

Good game Highlander. Always fun playing with you, and you were a good sport about the score and the drops you seemed to be plagued with.

Maybe tonight poppin. I might be home by 6EST or so, but I''m at work now after getting three hours of sleep after flying in from Vegas at midnight, so I may not be coherent by then. We''ll see. If we can set a definite time before, say 10EST or so, I''ll try to make it.

Fletcher-- sounds like we should go for some other day, although it does sound tempting to lull you to sleep with some lullabyes during our game and go on to glorious, glorious victory...

I can do Monday after 6:30EST, Tuesday between 6:30-7:30EST, or Wednesday after 6:30EST. I, uh, forgot to look at Thursday, but I think I''m open then after 6:30EST.

Legion/RuthlessMuffin. I saw that you guys got dropped with 28 seconds left in the game. Obviously, Ruthless might have made a 2-point conversion, recovered an onside kick, and made a long field goal in that time but.... Do you need/want a reset?

Yes Please can you reset set it. We are going to play tonight.

Thank you

PIIGGGPPPEEEENNNNN where are you?

Fear me! Hsss (clawing motion)

Psycho and I got our game played. I''ll uhhh... leave it at that

The Texans decided to play possum, allowing the Raiders to score very heavily against them. Says coach Whoever, ""We''re hoping for the sympathy vote and/or ''Most Improved'' trophy.""

Well, my befuddlying Viqueens took on Grumps'' on-a-losing-streak-but-not-for-long Jets tonight. Tough game, all told. The 1st quarter was a punch in the guts followed by a knee to the groin to both offenses by both defenses. More 3-and-outs than I''d care to mention, but I felt pretty good about holding my own...then came the 2nd quarter.

Grump went on a bit of a tear in the 2nd Q, scoring *28* points. Yes, that is 20+8. The VQueens fumbled on their first possession of the 2nd quarter. Pennington through a 50+/- yard pass for a TD on the next play. During the subsequent possession, D. Culpepper fumbled the ball out of his girlish hands, leading to a defensive TD by the Jets. After another futile possession by the O, the defense forced a 3-and-out by the Jets...however, Culpepper proceeded to throw an interception, which D. Abraham returned for a long, long TD.

I almost started to feel good when I marched the ViQueens down the field for a TD. However, then I kicked it back to the Jets with under a minute to play in the half...Grump got a good kick return, and then scored a TD with 6 seconds left in the half.

Although I scored two more TDs in the 2nd half, Grump had the game well under control. I had moments of good defense, and even some good offense, but turnovers did me in...plus, as per my last few games, I gave up *7* sacks....**7** sacks!! !@%#@%

Well played game, Grump. Can''t wait for next season''s rematch...

Stats Analysis:

Not a big rushing game by either team, with each of us having about 44 yards.

Passing was big: 265+ yards for both Culpepper and Pennington.

Culpepper (I) gave gave the other team two scores through a fumble and a turnover.

Spy - I''m baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

when?

Had a nice game with ruthlessmuffin. He may just be a ""Coffee Grinder"" as a poster but he fits right in with the spirit of the community here. In both our initial aborted game and our completed second attempt, he was fun to chat with. And there was a lot of wackiness in our game to laugh about. I played mostly second-stringers, and he proved me right in doing so - dude beat the living sh*t out of any teal jersey he could get near. Between our two games (since injuries aren''t removed in reset games!), I went from 0 people on the injured list to 3 - and a couple of people were temporarily knocked out of the games too. He knocked the stuffing out of so many people that my starters ended up showing up in the game here and there to fill the voids.

Then there was the time when my right guard literally stood still - straight up, not in a stance, not moving at all - while he rushed and slammed my QB. Watching the replay, we laughed almost to tears. Never seen a lineman stand straight up and still with the play going on around them. I''ve seen them get ""lost"" and not block anyone, but never just stand up like nothing''s happening.

Better than that was when my bottom-of-the-depth-chart WR Cortez Hankton, after beating his DB by a step and a half, decided to simply turn perpendicular with the field, and run directly off of the field and into the cheerleaders. We see where his priorities are. That''s why he usually doesn''t get on the field. I wish I had a video of that play.

I hope ruthless finds a way to get into the playoffs - had he had the team all season, he would not be an 8-7 team. If you''re already in the playoffs and you play him, though, be sure to bench your stars.

Whenever is good with me Pigpen - I am off all week and I need some sort of decent game after my recent drubbing by Certis.

The Texans-Raiders game started out pretty even. The Texans had a great drive to start the game, but an interception in the endzone killed it for them. It then turned into the Raiders usual defensive contest, with the first touchdown coming largely because they Raiders were able to get good field position by pinning the Texans back on their goal line. The Texans kept it close, however, by forcing Kerry Collins to fumble and running it back 50+ yards for a touchdown. The celebration was short-lived, though, as Collins managed a long throw to get the Raiders in position for another touchdown as time ran down in the first half. In the second half, the Raiders defense stayed strong and Tyrone Wheatley tired out the Texans defense. The Raiders added two more touchdowns in the second half to make it 28-7.

In all honesty, I felt kind of bad for Fletcher. I think the victory had less to do with any particular skill on my part and more to do with the numbers on my little digital men being better than the numbers on his little digital men. I do think that Fletcher deserves a ""Good Sport"" award, though, for hanging in there and seeming to enjoy the game despite the fact that the computer didn''t seem to want him to do very well...

Best reason to play, enjoying the game. Sometimes I have more fun on the receiving end of a total ass-whipping than when I lose a nailbiter. But either way, its great to be able to have fun whatever the score is.

Dooood. I got pwned.

Good game, Certis.

frankiemumbles and I played our game last night, and might I say, I truly hate this game sometimes.

Apparently the computer thought it would be funnyto really drive it home that I was going to lose. After a miserable 1st half (it took me QUITE awhile to adjust to frankie''s blitz defense) I was down 17-0. But, I had the ball at the beginning of the second half, and looked forward to starting over, maybe getting CLOSE.

frankie kicks the ball, and my receiver catches it at the 10. He runs to the 15... 20... oh look, there''s a guy... BAM... fumble, Rams recover.

Now this was a completely normal run, and a completely normal kick. I wasn''t performing a spin move. I wasn''t juking or stiff arm-ing. I wasn''t doing ANYTHING but moving the control stick UP.

I swear, every time I felt like I was getting somewhere, there would be a fumble or an interception... things started to pick up at the end of the third, and I had two decent drives for a touchdown and a field goal (frankie was probably feeling the same way I was toward the end of the game) but it was, as they say, too little, and also, too late. Final, 27-10.

I understand the game strives to be realistic, and I don''t expect to catch the ball in triple coverage - when that happens, I consider myself lucky. But if my man is running his route, uncovered, in the end zone, and I throw the ball right to him, it should NOT bounce off his helmet. If frankie throws a flat to Faulk, my two defenders on the wing should NOT run three steps toward him, stop (while I''m nowhere near controlling them, mind you) and let him run 5 yards by before they start running after him again.

I enjoy playing, and can deal with a loss, especially if it''s because I''m not as good at the game as the other person. But the element of this that seems to be nothing more than random chance REALLY frustrates me. I understand some of you are in it for an intensely realistic experience - but, for me, I like talking to the other guy, and trying your best, and knowing that your skill is what''s deciding the game, not an arbitrary decision from the computer on whether or not you caught it.

Ok, I''m venting, and this isn''t productive anymore. My only point is that when I feel like I''m getting better and starting to understand the game more (I had some truly BRUTAL defensive series against frankie last night, making him punt from something like 4th and 26) it''s frustrating when it seems like the computer is telling me ""no, my friend, you do NOT get to do good tonight...""
