\"Top 10 Girlfriend Games,\" via IGN

you know, is it just me, or do ALL the gaming magazines and website trot out this old horse of an article every 6 months or so? I swear, this is about the 10th ""girlfriend games"" article I''ve seen in the last year... they usually seem to show up in February around valentines day... go figure.

Well, it''s certainly easier on the wallet to bring your woman to the basement for some Cube rather then pay for an expensive dinner

In five years the only games I''ve ever gotten my wife to play are from the Need for Speed series. I''ve even purchase, installed and demo''d Sims 2 for her. I think she played it for 10 minutes before she quit and hasn''t touched it since. Yet, when I get her behind the wheel of a Nissan 300ZX she''ll race me for hours.

I''ve avoided showing her Burnout3. She drives like a maniac as it is, I can only imagine what it would be like after playing something that shows her on the best way to slam into a busy intersection at 150 mph.

I wouldn''t know about wives or girlfriends, but my female friends seem to like games along the lines of Sims, Katamari Damashi, Parappa the Rapper, and various Mario titles. There''s an interesting interesection there with casual gamers, too - these games are light, invigorating, and easy to play for only 30 minutes at a time... Coincidence?

So women have short attention spans?

A couple of girls I know play Halo 2 with us whenever we get a big system link party going. But then they also love them some Mario Kart, and enjoy that Fusion Frenzy game as well.

Or women have better judgment than to sit around for hours playing video games...

I can''t even think of a witty response :(.

Because it''s true.

Whatever. I had the good judgement to be born with a peepee. This thing is FUN.

Oh, I just noticed that someone mentioned Ico in this thread. Having just completed the game a week or so ago, I cannot restrain myself from stating that it was a glorious, near-spiritual experience. Ok, now, back to topic.

I just remembered... my current GF and I used to play ""Zombies ate my Neighbors"" for hours at a time (SNES version... this was probably about 2.5 years ago).

The worst is when you hear one of the soundtrack songs come on yer radio while driving. Particularly the ''Burn This City'' of Franz Ferdinand. THAT makes you want to wreck someone nearby right quick. Esp jersey drivers!

My wife loved Pikmin 1 and 2. She thought it was so cute how they sang songs while killing monsters and got so upset when they drowned.

The Wife(tm) really enjoys adventure games. Syberia was one of her latest favorites, although some of the puzzles pissed her off:)

She just can''t hang with the first-person games. I sat her down in front of HL2, and every time something jumped at her, she literrally jumped, taking her hands off the keyboard/mouse.

Are you attempting to use THE WIFE as a trademark in commerce? Really? What is she selling?

Just a little intellectual property humor. I think you were looking for the (r) symbol.
