Ok. First let me b clear this is my first experience with this game and this enquiry is about folks who would be interested and ONE individual (not me!) who would take on running it.
I know of at least 4 folks who r presently interested:

My brother

So, anyone else? Especially someone familiar with the game to run and nurture we newbies along:). (as a side note about the new iPhone/iPad versions coming out. There is no on-line play for this version unfortunately).

I wasn't sure if I was going to pick up OOTP 12, as I'm still getting plenty of mileage out of OOTP 11, but if you get enough people for a league and someone to run it, I'm in.
I'm considering, but there's no way I can run the league as I'm in two football sim leagues already.
I'm planning to get OOTP12, i'd be a solid "maybe".
That's awesome news. I grabbed a copy of OOTP 11 for $5 on Amazon this weekend so that I can play around with it before the new one comes out.
I really want the iPad version, though.
I'm gonna jump into the OOTP world this year, so count me in!
Yeah, count me in for 12. Just preordered it.
What are the Commissioner's responsibilities?
I wouldn't recommend being a commissioner if you haven't played in an online league or at least a lot of the game.
Here's the section in the online manual for online leagues: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/docu...
Yeah, that's way out of my league.
Count me in for a league- I've been playing around with OOTP11 and I'll have 12 when it comes out.
So, I play a fair amount of Front Office Football 2007 (he's give free update patches every year since) and thought you guys might want to take a look at what those sites look like. Most sim games offer packages to help you get websites setup. Once they get setup it's a TON of fun.
Oh, and fantasy leagues (ie. players made up by the game) tend to be more fun than ones that start with real players. After a few years most of the players are all fake anyway, and with fantasy/fake teams you get to create your own history. Or at least that's how I prefer things.
No Rules League (NRL). Not my favorite, but the league uses the basic FOF2007 rules and simmed from 1960 or so forward using historical players. Then in 2026 human owners took over. This allows for people like Peyton Manning to have existed and played, but at this point they're out of the game. It gives the league a richer history than simming for 60 years worth of fake players. Anyway, take a look around. The site isn't the best, but it works and there's a dedicated bunch who play (which is the most important part).
My other (and preferred league) is the OSFL. The site looks better and more information is given in the forums on a "weekly" (as in game weeks, which are 2-3 a week) basis. (Example.) They also hook into a database system setup up by Ben E. Lou who is practically the developer's right hand man (though he doesn't get paid or anything, but he knows EVERYTHING). His databases look like this where you can peruse most of the stats found in-game, but from your browser.
I just thought you guys who hadn't played a mp sim game before might find this stuff informative.
Man, and here I was thinking it'd be the end of this month ...
Markus, OOTP developer has stated that June 20th will be the release date of OOTP 12. He was apologetic for delay, but lots of overhaul, especially financial system etc. Hopefully will get a commissioner by then.
Well, you know, we should probably just join an existing league. There's 7 of us who are in, so it shouldn't be too hard to find a place that could house us. I wonder how many people are playing in Bill Abner's league ...
Looking like a 2pm EST release for preorders. I know what I plan on doing when I get home.
Edit: And it's live. Got my email. Four servers to download. We'll see how that goes when I get home.
Heck yeah, great news. I paid for it so long ago, it feels like I'm getting it for free.
Totally enjoying myself. Do we still want to try this? Do we have a potential commish willing to donate the necessary webspace?
Honestly, I haven't put much time into the game as of yet. For some reason I'm obsessed with Baldur's Gate right now. Perhaps it's my reaction to not being able to get into Mass Effect 2 and going back to play a proper Bioware game. Anyway, wrong thread.
I'm still in for a league, for sure. One of my FOF leagues collapsed, so I'm down to the one FOF league. More time for an OOTP league. I might look into what all the hosting duties entail. At the very least we can shop around the OOTP site and find a league with enough space for us to join up.
