Isn''t the deposit you have to put down a % of what you set your asking price for? That guy is a complete moron.. lol...
The deposit is based on the 1)""vendor value"" that the vendor would give you for the item and 2)how long you are running the auction for. A 24 hour auction is usually a huge jump in deposit price. So, you can ask for whatever price you want without paying a penalty. The only real penalty you will get is when it doesn''t sell and you are out the deposit money, as in this case.
It''s possible the person is totally out of storage, and paying the deposit to temporarily get some extra space. Least that''s the only thing that I can think of that makes any bit of sense. In fact, if they cancelled the auction, wouldn''t the item be mailed to them, to sit for up to 30 days?
Although I''m not sure that anything that people do in WoW actually needs to make sense ;).
I''ll have two, please. Money is no object.:)

They should create an alt or mail it to themselves if they want extra storage. Or be an idiot like me and buy 4 extra bank slots.

I''m dumber than that. I bought two bag slots weeks ago and only realized last night that I have to put bags in them to make them useful.
