While I know a lot of you hate SOE and/or these particular games this is a decent deal.

Planetside is a lot of fun. Then you get EQ2 with all the adventure packs and 8 characters. Now add in SWG and for $21 or so a month not bad at all.

Sort of reminds me of the gaming services that where out for a while where for a set fee you got access to various games online. Of course those failed bad but with the fact that people tend to only play 1 MMORPG at a time I bet this could be a nice money maker and not cost much extra out of SOE.

This is a helluva a deal. And this together with free Anarchy Online is proof positive that revolutionary Worlds of Warcraft is devastating the competition.

It''s cool and a nice value add but like you said I''m really curious how many people actually play more than one MMORPG at a time..

Shucks I may be tempted to fire up Glaxies again. I havent played WoW in a couple of weeks - I got in a rut and started playing other games and just got sucked into Call of Duty and Pirates and now Ground Control 2. might have to do day by day MMORPG scheduling :)>

Just got an email from a friend of mine in SWG. Our ""Metropolis"" city of 175 people is now down to 22 DOH! My Jedi Knight is just sitting collecting dust... I have no real desire to go back no matter how much they offer.

I''m tempted to try out that free 10-day deal they have with JtL, just because it''s free and all. I have a hard time saying no to that one simple word, unless it has a freight train of complications behind it.

I am probably going to make the Jump back into Galaxies since it now comes with my EQ2 subscription - if just to see what is new and improved. Might as well dabble since it is part of my account. I havent fired up EQ2 in quite some time either.

Wait, Fileplanet''s making me re-download SWG, then JtL. I wonder if they''ll give me the free trial, since I already did one with SWG last time.

Man, who thought that dowloading almost 3 gigabytes would take all day?

I have the Galaxies on CD - I will reinstall at some point and begin a new life in the Star Wars universe

And if you already own Galaxies, you can still download the JtL trial and play away. Saves you a 3 gig download.

Yeah I own Galaxies - I played it, but I get MMORPG ADD after the first month usually - I have commitment issues :).

Controls for JTL, like in SWG, are a bit clunky without re-binding. Took me a while to figure out how to talk to a space station to land back on the planet.

Have they ever improved the newbie experience in the game? I played at launch and from what I recall, the new player experience sucked. With the game being three years old it seems like it could be hell for returning players.

Skillwise, JtL''s pilot profession is perfect for newbies, since it''s twitch combat rather than your traditional RPG combat, so how well you do in space is dependant on how well you personally fly, rather than the skill modifiers your character has. Now if only I can scare up 6K credits to get that X-Wing chasis I had my eye on...

I don''t think Galaxies is three years old more like a year and a half. Anyways I just upgraded my EQ2 account to a Station Access account I figure i''ll play a little of SWG and check out JTL maybe even play a little Planetside plus you supposedly get the adventure packs in EQ2 for free so it seems like a pretty good deal to me.

I guess I will wait until 1 Feb - I didnt realize that.

To me Planetside brings the value in this package- if it were DAoC it were bundled with instead of EQ I would actually be tempted to jump from WoW. I wouldn''t want to play more than one fantasy MMORPG at a time, but Planetside is a whole different experience.

Stric can you play SWG before Feb 1?

I haven''t tried it but I doubt it as it says on the site it is coming on Feb. 1st. When you sign up though you can choose to change your EQ2 subscription now or wait until the next billing period. You also get four extra character slots for EQ2 which is cool, yet lame that they hold the slots for ransom.

This is a tremendous value. If WoW werent around, Id be in hog heaven. The funny thing is because of WoW, I just canceled my Station Access Pass that I had since Planetside came out.

I can see people playing more than one MMO and perhaps even three. Planetside is way different than EQ, EQ2, WoW or the like. SWG seems more like the latter yet the Jump to Lightspeed expansion seems to differentiate it from the rest. Since it more action oriented it may fall closer into the Planetside category, however, spaceship combat is a lot different than FPS combat. It seems to me that the action oriented games are less time demanding and thus should fit well with EQ or EQ2.

Its too bad about Planetside. The combat never got stale. The locations and objectives got very stale. I think they made a mistake by making empty, unclaimed bases weak. If they made them so strong and allied to noone so that it would take large forces of either or any combination of the three factions to take over a base, it would ""mean"" something and lessen the fists-on-a-totem pole gameplay that exists now.

Downloaded and playing JTL - actually a lot of fun - even Galaxies is still fun, but the interface blows compares to WoW. Still all in all after some retraining - having a good time.

Stupid credit cap. You can really make a killing just by looting spaceships and selling the junk to the chassis dealers located at every major starport. I could have bought a fleet of X-Wings...

Chassis dealers? Is there one at Mos Eisley - where can I sell the junk I loot off mobs?

Chassis dealears are usualy in the lobby of every major starport (I haven''t found one on Yavin, for instance). You can sell junk you steal off of destroyed ships to these guys, plus if you buy the blueprints to a ship from a shipwright or other vendor, they''ll build that chassis for you to customize. Unfortunately, there''s no equivalent for junk you find during ground play. Believe me, I''ve tried finding them.

Yeah I found him in Mos Eisley. Nice prices. Credits come quick as opposed to when I played in beta and open release. Bought myself a nice speeder bike. Going for a new ship next. I am having fun actually. Although its amazing to see how the economy has changed.I assume the reason you have people paying you to let them train you is they need it to be a Jedi - yes?

Edit: If anyone still plays let me know.

Training is a requirement to master a professionl (except the piloting ones).

Well, four days later and I''m already starting to get bored with it. Freelancer was more entertaining than this (and you guys know how much I hated that game). Here''s hoping beyond hope that LEC and Totally Games decide to team up for some kind of X-Wing 10 Year Anniversary Edition or somesuch, otherwise I''m re-installing that 3 in 1 special edition that came out a few years back.

Personally I am enjoying it. I found a great guild that has really got a lot going for it. I balance my gtound stuff with flying around in my ship. I like the ability to customize the ships with new parts - that is a game in and of itself.
