Faster WoW patch link?

Hopefully someone can post one after today's patching so I don't have to take 4+ hours doing it thru regular channels.

Thanks!

It was my understanding today isn''t a patch day just an extended maintenance day.

No patch today...but the best link I found last time was on Filefront.

Ok, I have been playing for only two weeks now, how do you use another link to download a patch, other than the standard one that happens when you start up the patch in the first place?

You can''t use the ''official downloader'' to download the patch from a unofficial site. You just download it from fileplanet, filefront or anywhere else like a regular file and then execute it.

Ahhh. I think I will have to do that next patch. I really do not like the slowness of the peer to peer downloader.

Verified, was able to play on Blackhand post-maintenance with no patch download.

Sorry to hear that Donan, I can''t believe it took over 4 hours for you.

So why are the bittorrent links so slow? It was damn fast in beta, and my experience with Bittorrent is that the more people that hit it, the faster it goes.

Though I guess the auto patch downloader rarely has people seeding, which I guess would mess it up. As soon as the patch is done they probably close it down. It''d be nice if they''d use a few K here and there to seed to everyone else to speed up the patch.

So Blackhand''s back up?

My misunderstanding. Thanks folks for the information tho'' for when it is patched again.

I think if it was fast for you in beta it would be fast for you still, that''s certainly been the case for me. I haven''t heard anyone complain that it went from being fast before to slow now, just that it''s always been godawful slow for some.

Blizzard''s bittorrent client always worked fine for me, but their help thing says you should open three ports, one of which is standard 6881(TCP) and the other two are weird numbers.

Either way I opened all 3 as TCP on both mine and my sister''s routers and the patching goes plenty fast.

Another problem, I believe is that some mentally challenged ISPs started blocking port 6881 because it is used by dem torrant pirates yarr.

The bittorrent for me was very very slow. Looking at the stats, it appears that each connection I had was very short. Either they were being cut off, or people were not leaving bittorrent up for a while after their dl was done - kind of anti-social, that.
