WoW Census data

These two sites contain census data from the census mod for Wow. Overall, the Alliance outnumber horde 3 to 1 on normal servers but the numbers are more even on pvp servers.

You can look up specific stats for your realm as well as guild. Here's the census data for GWJ Horde on blackhand.

Wow, so I''m one of only 3 Druids in the guild? Cool.

Wow, the alliance numbers makes you wonder if people have issues with anthropomorphs. Mooo!

Honestly, I just assumed playing a Horde character would expose you to way too much furry chat.

Is a furry really more offensive to you than an elf? Come on.

I''d hit a cow before I degraded myself enough to hit Liv Tyler.

Blackhand is the 13th most populous server with 13,835 players. Does that mean 13,835 characters or people? i.e. Do I count as 1 or 3 because I have 3 characters on the server?

Alliance only has horde by a 3:2 ratio (about 8,000 to 5,700). Hunter, Warrior and Rogue are by far the most populous classes.

Interesting stuff ...

Damn, Ghastly, don''t hold back or anything.

The warrior part is interesting. When I do random groups, there''s always a hunter and rogue, but I can never find a warrior to just be the pure tank (important to a priest).

You''re just plain crazy. Liv Tyler is hawt to the xtreme and we know everything gets better when it is extreme.

So you like your women stupid as hell with an overbite that makes them look like the retard they are? I see..

Irony: Creating a Night Elf hunter because you want to be ""different"", then finding out that you picked not only the most popular class, the most popular race, but the most popular combination of the two. Following that up by creating a Shaman (the least-played class according to the census), then finding out that it''s the second most-popular class in your guild, second only to... the Hunter. Sigh.

That data is a little old, it''s still got me at 37, which was maybe a week ago. According to it we only have two warlocks in GWJ Alliance, and three druids. Gnomes are the least played race.

Hunter, Warrior and Rogue are by far the most populous classes.

This has to be wrong.
Didn''t you mean Paladin, Paladin, and Paladin are the by far the most populous classes.
Or is Blackhand the one island of sanity in the realm servers.

I swear every alliance player you run into is a paladin. The nightly alliance raid of the crossroads last night had 30 paladins and maybe 10 other mixed charaters, it was silly.

If you look at the GWJ Alliance numbers, we''re above 100 and this has us listed at under forty. Highly innaccurate. I would agree with phragged; I say that Paladin is by far the most populous Alliance class.

I wouldn''t want to be a gnome simply because every other race would block out my view of the action in a group form the default perspective.

The warrior part is interesting. When I do random groups, there''s always a hunter and rogue, but I can never find a warrior to just be the pure tank (important to a priest).

I agree. On the Horde side, warriors can be really hard to come by.

Cool stuff a7an! 2 things of note to me: GWJ Horde is the 15th biggest guild on Blackhand, not too shabby! Also, my alt server Shadowsong only has 464 horde players as opposed to 3,131 Alliance. No wonder we Hordies get the crap raided out of us there! Great server though.

I haven''t been on Shadowsong for quite awhile, not since Blackhand became accessible on a regular basis. I really need to get back to my little troll hunter, Elkspit, one of these days.

Ahh... I guess GWJ Horde is the 15th biggest HORDE guild.

Reaper, is it possible that the census is excluding characters under level 10? That''s how a7an''s query was set.

When I''ve run the census addon, it did look at chars under 10. Remember this site depends on user submitted data, so it''s not going to be entirely accurate, especially on things like exact numbers of people in a guild. But as far as class distributions, that should be pretty close.

With respect to warriors, I think this is the class that most people playing a MMORPG for the first time will pick, but lots of those will later reroll. It would be really interesting to see a class breakdown by level...

So, wait, if I start an alt character, he (or she) can be on an alt server, too? That''s cool. Changing servers does not do it for ALL your characters?

I see far far more hunters than paladins, but that''s just anecdoctal.

No way unpronounceable, you can have characters on all different servers.

No offense man, but what in the name of holy hell made you think a Night Elf anything would be ""different""? Do you know how many books R. A. Salvatore has sold??

The overall numbers are kind of misleading when looking at the faction specific classes..

If you look at the Horde-only stats, Shaman is neck and neck with Hunter for 2nd place behind Warrior.

Alliance side, Paladin is second only to Hunter, and not by much.

The reason I''ve seen more paladins than any other class is probably because I''ve switched to the horde side and the type of player that seems to choose to play the class deemed ""elite"" by the wow forums is also the same type of people who want to kill your innkeeper.
(No offense to any GWJ paladins, I have on also and know they aren''t all griefing bastards)
(And really its ok that they are trying to kill my innkeeper, its what made me switch over the horde)

You indeed can have characters on multipler servers. With the teething pains on Blackhand at launch (and ever so slightly back this last week), many of us created characters on other servers too. I have two characters on Shadowsong that I play with Spleen and Gretz, and then I have my two characters on Blackhand. Admittedly my favorite character is on Blackhand so I spend more time on there, but it is nice to be able to switch around.

I just thought they''d be too ""woosy"" for teh kiddies playing WoW, but apparently I''m wrong. It doesn''t help that the humans avatars look... and I mean no offense to any humans here... stupid. Really, really stupid. Literally every other race looks worlds better in my opinion. Yes, even the Tauren females (Go Mooshi!).

I just wish there were more good quality Horde Priests on my server..

Hey if anyone wants to come over full time to Alleria and play a Horde Priest you''ll be showered with gifts and twinked up really fast!!

I promise!
