Archers?

When I first saw WoW had guns and such it kind of turned me off. But I got use to it and it's no biggie. Matter a fact as a dwarf/warrior I got the skill so I could 'fish' crits (although more times then not, it would bring a group not wanted

But I believe that 'gun's' have completely overshadowed any 'true' archer's (i.e. Bow, not crossbow). I've yet to
see an archer, let alone a crossbow character. I loved my
archer in AC (till I tried my hand being a mage), and I am
sad to not see them represent by player's (I might of been one, but the skill never came up for me to learn).

Probably just luck not to have seen one. Has anyone? I know
Hunters, Rogues and Warriors can use them.

Most Hunters I know use Bows...

Rogues, Warriors tend to stick to guns...

But I''m pretty sure its not a hard rule.

Good to know! Must be just the luck of the draw or where I''m playing and such.

Actually I think a lot of ranged characters choose guns because of the lack of a trade skill associated with bows and arrow making.
Basically when it comes to getting a new bow you either have to get lucky and find a good one or buy one at auction. Whereas you could make or buy a new gun and ammo from engineers.
Just a feeling based on some stuff I''ve read in forums and seen in game.
My night elf hunter uses a bow, but I have my gun skill trained up because I found a gun that was so much better than my current bow that I had to use it.(but I''m back to the sucky bow just for style)

I have an orc hunter who uses bows. For me the choice was made for me since all orc hunters start with bows instead of guns. It''s a racial thing, dwarves and bulls get guns to start and I think everyone else that can be a hunter gets bows.

I use a xbow, I bought the best one that the shop had in SW and then trained it up. It''s mainly for pulling so damage doesn''t matter too much.

Of course I''m trained in all of the ranged weapons just in case I find one that''s better.

I made a point of taking my Human Rogue all the way to Darnassus just to learn how to use bows. I dislike the guns.

So Darnassus has the ony Bow Trainer? Sounds Hordish to me, is that correct?

My NE Hunter just switches back-and-forth depending on whatever weapon she can get with the best DPS. Bows *seem* to be faster than guns but with less damage.

I''m actually hoping to pick up a rare crossbow in the AH later today if I can get the gold. Haven''t seen anyone else using one.

Darnassus is the Night Elf capitol city. It''s quite the adventure to get there. I know some people do it at very low levels (not that I can think of anyone off the top of my head *cough*FANG*cough*) but crossing through the Wetlands and Dun Algaz can be murderous even up into the high teens.

We cqll it ""the run"". We use it to freak our aliance friends out at low lvls.

Isn''t there a Bow trainer in Elwynn Forest, at the Eastvale Logging Camp?

My main weapon of choice is the crossbow, but you are right, there are few and far between of us around.

Not to mention there aren''t a whole lot of places to purchase an upgraded weapon.

Quick question: Do crossbows in the game use arrows? If not, where do you find/buy ammo?

No kidding - there are usually only a couple of crossbows for sale in the AH, and often there are none at all.

You use arrows. There aren''t separate bolts or anything.

I bought my xbow at the weaponshop in stormwind in ''Trade District'' near the entrance to the city. The same place the weapons master is. 13dps which is higher than most range weapons I''ve found even at my current level.

My question is this, why on earth would someone use a ammo pouch/quiver? Isn''t 200 shots enough for an instance or protracted battle rather than lose a bag slot to a ammo only bag?

It increases your firing speed and you can put other stuff in it.

I''ll have to try again, I thought I could only put ammo in there.

Um i went through 1000 arrows in the deadmines last night.
Went in with 1000 left with 17. And I even was rationing towards the end and hitting things instead of shooting them.

I thought you could only put ammo in as well.

I have a crossbow that does 20 dps that I can''t recall where I bought it from though I am fairly sure I didn''t buy it in Stormwind. I am gonna hit the auction house tonight to see if anyone is trying to pawn of a crossbow, I have a couple of gold burning a hole in my pocket and there are a couple of Horde skulls that are woefully deficient of pointy acoutrements.
