My first WoW PvP experience

I had my first PvP experience last night, even though it was not by choice. While it was short, I will always remember it as a funny and enjoyable moment. I was about to finish this quest seriesand I was standing at Hendel ready to go toe to toe with him. I was chatting with Ruskin about this fight because he had attempted it before and he let me know that the guards close by will help Hendel. As I was about to get brave and attack Hendel (even with his 2 guards standing close by), a level 39 Tauren hunter came up and attacked the level 35 and 36 guards that stand next to Hendel. He wiped them out with no problems. I thought "wow, this is my golden opportunity to take Hendel one on one and see what happens." I accept his quest and attack him. The fight goes perfectly for me, I critted for 250+ two times in the first 5 seconds and I was winning big against a 35 ( I am still 33). Hendel was below half health and I had only lost about an 1/8 of my health. Then all of a sudden, I start taking a lot of damage. It took me a second to realize that the hunter was shooting me in the back with arrows and having his pet bite my hairy dwarf butt. Since I was slow to react to what was happening (partly out of disbelief and partly because I was dead tired), I was getting close to dying...BUT so was Hendel. Well, when Hendel gets close to death, he stops fighting and Lady Proudmore appears with another mage NPC. They are both uber NPCs (level 500 elite rated using the Cosmos interface). I am running into the swamp water off of the dock about this time and the hunter's last arrow hits me in the back and I die. (Next time I will use Vanish and get away, I am still learning to use my rogue special moves effectively.) Well, the 39 Tauren was standing there thinking he was big time when Lady Proudmore and her mage friend aggroed him. All I have to say is HA HA. He dropped like a rock. So, in the end, the hunter got his laugh and I had mine.

Even for that short amount of time my blood was pumping with excitement from being involved in a fight with another player. I can't wait for the PvP battlegrounds.

Lady Proudmore shows up as lvl 500!

Yeah, she shows up the same as all the mobs that were summoned to destroy newbies on the last day of beta. You know, the ones you don''t want to face until you are 60.

I know she''s ?? but cosmos shows you their level anyway. I looked at it last night curious afterward (I went back to your mage-ly tower to see if there was a followup right away) and she is level 500. Good for her!

My PvP experience wasn''t all that great. I had to kill a horde guard at the lift going down to Thousand Needles. Well, lo and behold, this turned me into a proud member of the alliance and opened me up to attack. After getting killed twice by level 40+ horde players and waiting the 2nd time until my pvp tag wore off because they were camping my corpse, I decided I need to be more careful about how proud a member of the Alliance I am.

I know if I attack an NPC horde member, I open myself up to attack. However, I see some horde players attacking NPC alliance members (or so I assumed) and I can''t seem to attack them so I''m a little confused as to how it all works.

I was curious about that as well. The hunter that I had the encounter with should have had his flag on but I wasn''t worried about attacking him and didn''t check. I wish I would have known because I could have backstabbed him a couple of times and maybe got a kidney shot off on him while the guards kicked his cow butt but I didn''t.

You can sneak by this guard. I had to do it last night.

You''ll be going down the lift on the LEFT.
Go around to the edge of the cliff on the left side of the left lift. Run along the edge and get to the plank. Run for the lift. If you fall down I''m pretty sure you''ll res in the new zone too. There''s a Flight path in the far west of the zone (It''s actually in the zone adjacent but it''s RIGHT there on the border).

The thing is, some mobs are green because they like you and some are Alliance mobs, but the two don''t always go hand in hand. If when you target a mob, you see the Alliance or Horde icon in their portrait, attacking that mob will flag you.

I find PvP to be pretty tedious, although seemingly contrary to that statement, the fights are exciting. The thing is, no one wants a straight fight. I''ve had duels with Horde where their teammates danced around in front of me, spamming emotes to try and confuse me... that''s not fun. That''s a pack of lame griefers run amok.

One fairly amusing PvP story... I was in Thousand Needles I think and on my ram typing away when I ran into a Horde guard there. He dismounted me, so I beat the crap out of him, but since I wasn''t paying much attention or using all my skills, I got dropped to something like 30%. I mount back up, flagged and see a level 29 tauren shaman come running towards me. I am a rogue and was 47 at the time, mind you. I guess he thinks having 1/3 my health is enough to make up for the 18 level difference, because as I turn to go he throws some chill/snare spell on me. I turn back, dismount and vanish. That panics him, so he tosses down that snare totem and jets. I decloak, hit sprint and close on him. First backstab, 585 damage, more than half his health. I poke him a few more times, /chuckle at him and then let him go. It was funny, but not many folks PvP''g are interested in fun it appears... just grief.
