Wednesday December 15th GWJ Horde - Ragefire Chasm

I'm psyched to do Ragefire Chasm tonight . It'll be my first instanced dungeon, so hopefully we can get a good group together.

I'll be there with Hubb - lvl 16 Undead Priest. I say we meet out in front of the entrance in the Cleft of Darkness <giggle> sometime around 8 or 9 PM EST.

Who's in?

I''ve got a level 18 Shaman. Depending on what the wife wants to do, I might show up. I''ve been into Ragefire before, but not very far in, and not in a full group.

Mark me as a maybe. Ducci, Troll Shaman.

Where is said Cleft of Darkness?

Point me to where the Cleft is and I''ll try to be there with my 15th level mage, Dyrtnap

The Cleft of Shadow (not Darkness, sorry), is an area in Orgrimmar. Go to the Drag in Orgrimmar and follow the path to the Cleft. The entrance to Ragefire Chasm is at the bottom of the area, to the right I think.

There are a couple of quests you can get before you enter Ragefire Chasm -- if you have time before we meet tonight go speak with Thrall in Orgrimarr (in the building in the upper left corner) and do his quest to collect the Lieutenant''s Insignia in the cave near the Zeppelin Tower. Then go to the Cleft and speak with the Orc dude outside the entrance to Ragefire...you''ll have to go between him and Thrall a couple times to get the RC quest.

Since I haven''t done an instanced dungeon before I''ll ask a dumb question: are there quests to get inside the dungeon?

I think it depends on the instance, but I don''t remember getting any additional quests inside RFC. One thing you will definitely need when you go into RFC is someone who manage crowds. You will be pulling multiple mobs at a couple points and it would be helpful if you could sheep/freeze/mez the adds.

RFC was a fun romp, though, with some nice loot.

Hey I can sheep!

There''s a Ragefire quest available in Thunder Bluff from a guy on either Spirit or Elder rise (can''t remember which).

The Cleft of Shadows is entered by running from the main gate into the Drag, then bearing left and taking the left-hand paths as they open up. As you get into the Cleft itself, go down the ramp and turn left and you''ll see the dungeon entrance in front of you. Rogue trainers and such down in that area too.

We had a good group last time, with a hunter and two shamans. Not sure what the other two were (sorry guys), I was concentrating on all the magic and group management. But with, say, 3 fighter-types and two healer/thumpers, you should be fine.

Yeah, we had the perfect well-rounded group for that one. Shattermaw and I were the 2 warriors in the group.

Well that sounds like a couple of probablys and a couple of maybes. I say we meet at the entrance at 9PM EST fully equipped and if we don''t have a full group, try to pull in a few people looking to group. See you tonight...

If I can make it on in time, I''d like to come along... but don''t wait up.

I''ll second the suggestion for some crowd control, and either 1 ""real"" healer or at least two secondary healers.

I can heal, resurrect, and do psychic scream (yell real loud and scare things off), which I guess is some form or crowd control.

I wanna come! Ill be 16 or more by then.

The quest in thunder bluff is from elder rise. You might have to do an investigate the oasises quests in the crossroads first.

Also, Im not sure if this is for wailing caverns or ragefire but an undead apothecary sends you to collect fungus from pools nw of crossroads. he then sends you to a secret cave in thunder bluff who gives you another mushroom gathering quest in either ragefire or thunderbluff.

Oh Im a tauren shammy! So I guess that makes me a healer/thumper!

Gonna try to make it tonight with my undead warlock. Is fear considered good crowd control?

Ducci, I went with you last time.

Last night I grouped-up with the remnants of Certis'' Tuesday GWJ group and ran Ragefire. Much fun. There is also a fourth elite quest that you can pick up from the leader of the Undercity. If you get the chance, it is worth picking up so that you can run it all at once. If I remember correctly it was an 18th level Elite quest. All told we had four quests when we walked into the Instance.

Have fun!

Confirmed at lunch that Theseus (TaD-14) is in Ogrimmar. He doesn''t have any of these quests, though. Can they be shared?

There is one in the Undead Undercity that I will try to get before we meet...I think it can be shared. If anyone is coming from Thunder Bluff I think there is another Ragefire quest on the Elder Rise that you can get.

However, the ones I have probably can''t be shared because you have to do one or two previous quests to get them. If you have time, go talk to Thrall in Ogrimmar and do the Lieutentants Insignia quest..

I''ll see if Dyrtnap can get the one in the Undercity.

Edgar, do you remember if this quest is part of a chain?

Man, we (I, anyway) need more than 12 hours notice (I''m sure I just missed a post or wasn''t following the right thread) on these thing. My gaming time doesn''t even start until ""8 or 9 PM EST"" (and usually more like 9 or 9:30 EST) so there''s no way I can complete any pre-quest quests. I don''t want to hold anyone so unless someone says that they definitely can be shared, just scratch my name off the list. On second, thought, if there''s room and if a druid would add value, I''ll come along for the XP and the comraderie. Thanks.

I''m in the same boat Grump. If I can get the quests great, if not I''m along for the ride.

No, it wasn''t. I stepped right up, asked for it and was on my way. Some of the others quests were sharable, but I don''t know whether the members of my party had already completed the earlier quests in those chains.

There are four quests associated with the instance that are shareable and original guys, so long as one person has them to pass along you should be good to go. Two on Elder Rise in Thunderbluff, one in the Undercity and one right outside the instance''s entrance. As far as instances go, this one is fairly short so you don''t need to worry about spending a ton of time in there either, which is nice.

I stand, er, sit corrected. But I had thought that the Lieutentants Insignia quest was a requirement in one of them . . . .

You are right Edgar. You can get a quest to kill 2 named people from Thrall after you complete the lieutenant''s insignia quest. The only reason I know is because that is the only one I didn''t have when I cleared the place 3 nights ago. My 19 shaman may be up for another run, but we''ll see how the wife and kid are doing.

As an fyi, I went through with a 21 hunter, 17 warlock, 18 hunter, and me as a 16 shammie with few problems. Just make sure that the roles are clear...multiple pullers can lead to some sticky situations.

Well, I tried to bring it up in last week''s thread a few days ago. Since nobody responded I thought I''d start a new thread. If this instance is really short we could start it later so we could load up on quests, that''s fine with me. I just didn''t want to start a 4 hour instance at 10 PM and be to bed at 2-3 AM!

Richyrambo, if you get the Undercity quest I can try to get the 2 in Thunder Bluff and still be there by 9 EST.

See? I told you I probably ""missed a post or wasn''t following the right thread"". Sorry. So how many do we have? If I make #6, for example, I''ll drop out.

I think it took us under an hour last night. Our group was 2 shamans, priest, and warrior 17-18.

I''m in! I''m a level 16 Hunter and I''m looking forward to this.

Looks like we are going to have 2 or more groups so everyone show up im sure theres room for everyone.

Just be patient. Obvioulsy we want to split up the healers. If you get there early and have a group dont be pissed if it needs to break up so that other can experience the instance. Also if your group is short people and/or doenst have a healer, please speak loudly and clearly. Too many times people give it not even 30 seconds before they give up and walk away. There is no reason why anyone who wants to do it will be able to do it. Ill even extend myself further if some people miss the boat, we can do a second later run. And yes I am going to be calling on other veteran players to help should this problem arise.

I''m in.

Do we want to split up groups by time? Say one group at 8 EST and one at 9?
