How much trouble are you in with the wife for playing WoW?

Trouble are you in with the wife for playing this damned game?

Ok...I just got the thing Saturday, had a Christmas party Saturday night, had to reload windows Sunday and had NFL football and another Sunday party - and still managed a 6+ hour chunk - so I'm in the doghouse big time!!!

(not to mention that apparently I forgot it was my 6 month wedding anniversary - when the hell did we start having to remember 'month' anniversaries...WHEN I ASK??)

So...who else is living out in the cold doghouse because of WoW?

I am seriously pushing my limits. My wife is starting to get quiet and didn''t really say much about it the past week. I don''t think it is the fact she is getting used to it, it is more that she is ready to kill me from behind while I am playing or divorce me quickly. Oh well, I am almost level 23 and that is what matters.

I definitely am. I''ve been told I have to spend at least one day a week ""spending time"" with her, which means no WoW basically. Played almost all day yesterday, but she was pretty tolerant because football was on and I would just be watching it anyway. Until last night in the middle of Deadmines and she wanted me to come to bed ""but honey, I just can''t abandon these guys!"", she just didn''t get it. I think I have to cut back a little before I start getting in some trouble...

That''s been a problem here. She''s too used to ""pausability"" and doesn''t seem to understand that you can''t just put things on hold for a few minutes.

This is the first MMORPG I''ve played where I''ve been single, and I really have to say I love it. With my long stint in EQ, I was always being bitched at for playing too long. Now, I can play all I want and noone to bother me (Woohoo!).

Now, don''t get me wrong, I still go out with friends and party, but somehow still managed to get to 29 last night in Gnomeregan. What a killer place that is!!!

Thank goodness, I have a husband who isn''t all that concerned about my WoW habit. Of course, I do take breaks for cooking, eating, personal hygiene activities, and marital duties....but just barely.

He''s been out of the house the last two Sundays, which has given me huge blocks of uninterrupted play time. I think I put about 12 hours in yesterday. That''s not typical, though, generally I''m looking at 2-3 hours in the evening during week days with 3-4 hr blocks of time on the weekends.

Yeah, after this weekend I get one night during the week to play to my hearts content (Tuesdays) and weekends as long as chores are done and my wife feels pretty. I get 1hr on other weekdays. We have our ''6month anniversary'' on Christmas so I got that going for me.

Edit - Lucky for me if there''s a Vikings game on here in Seattle I''m guilt free for 3 hours while she (the wife) bitches at Moss dropping the ball.

This is only acceptable in the first year of the marriage. Thereafter, you must fight this thing with all your might. Fight it on the beaches, fight it on the landing grounds, fight in the fields and in the streets, fight in the hills; never surrender. Otherwise you will soon be expected to bring home ""little gifts"" for every two week anniversary that can be imagined.

I''m not sure, I''ll have to ask her next time we login to play.

""Hon, am I spending too much time playing WoW?""
""Shut up and pull that bear, I still need four more paws for this quest""
""Yes dear""

and marital duties

Bow Chicka-Wow-WOW!

I keed, I keed.

Certis - runs a gaming website, plays during business hours, wife plays with him

You''re my hero!

Certis - lives in Canada

D''oh!

Oooo...Canada is a deal breaker.

For some reason Perry Como''s Magic Moment comes to mind:

""Ma~gic, Mo~ment, when two hearts are ca~ring
Ma~gic, Mo~ment, memories we''ve been sha~ring...""

But yeah, I''ve decided not to get a wife anymore, just girlfriends and skanky hoz from now on.

Don''t slam the Canadians, especially when we''re talking ""Marital Duties"". We Canadians have positions that haven''t even made it in the Kama Sutra yet. Ever heard of the Flying Beaver? The Pop your Don Cherry? How about the Double Double? They will all make any red-blooded American blush!

Use your imagination

If I ran into a beaver with wings, then I get the hell out of that room.

Why beaver?

The Beaver was not only our second prime minister, but makes a damned good house pet too.

Is it a bad thing if I get my Double Double from Tim Horton?

I''ve seen only a few cuties at Timmy''s...so not sure you want that...

and Popping your Don Cherry...holy crap...that brings a shudder to me (picture Don Cherry/now think of sex...*shudder*)

AND - let it be known...to return the thread...I achieved Anti-Christ status last night in ONLY two nights of Wow ... WOW is right! I got blasted out of my seat for not coming to bed 4 nights in a row due to gaming...and I mean blasted!!!

(of course, her apology at 3 AM in the morning was QUITE EXCELLENT...So all''s well that ends well... See you back on WoW tonight )

6 month wedding anniversary

Hmmm, which element in the periodic table would get this one? Magnesium?

Six Months: The Magnesium Anniversary!

I believe the 12 week is the Aluminum.

Don''t forget the backbacon surprise eh? Yeah I got nothing...

Or the phantom, or the reverse cowgirl.

Haha.. I like that one

My finacee is home from university for the next several weeks so that means gaming time is way down and marital duties are waaay up.

I do get in trouble sometimes for gaming. The no pausibility thing really gets to her. But last night she spent 6 hours playing Sims2 so I can use that as ammo.

The key is to turn it around on her: ""You want me to go watch TV with you right now? But Mooshi will die. That would make me sad. Maybe... maybe you want me to be sad? But I can do that... if you want."" Add downcast eyes and perhaps a sniffle and you''re THERE.

It''s all about balance. I got my girlfriend into gaming, so some nights I don''t see her much as she plays longer than me sometimes - but that''s ok because I do my own thing too (which either involves gaming or posting stupid things on GWJ). I just make sure that we both have time together a few times a week. I find games are more fun when you know the other person doesn''t mind, or even wants you to play.

Or do what Certis and Hoochie do and play together maybe? I got my non-gamer girlfriend to become quite a gamer, part of that I expect is from my non-stop obsessive gaming talk

Unless your wife despises you playing games because of the time you spend on it/time it takes away from her getting full attention...sigh

sigh

sigh

I figure I''m pretty lucky. I get home around quarter to 5; the wife gets home around 6:30. Then she likes to watch her taped soaps, and maybe play the piano. As long as I look concerned about spending time with her when she''s paying attention, it''s smooth sailing.

I''m not sure, I''ll have to ask her next time we login to play.

This is like me, we had alot of stuff to do Saturday and when we finally got home, I asked if she wanted to watch a movie and her reply was

""Well if you like, but I really need to get some levels done in EQ2 tonight, can we do that instead?""

Sigh, if only my job was as satisfying as my marriage.

My wife and I had a really good conversation the other day about what we like doing to relax. The Tivo is jam-packed with tons of sitcoms and dramas she enjoys watching but I have no interest in. She wants me to ""spend time with her"" watching these shows that I have no interest in so I countered her statement by telling her for every hour I watched TV with her she''d have to sit next to me and watch me play WoW. That shut her up pretty quickly and actually got her thinking. Now we have a concession, I play WoW on my laptop on the couch with her while she watches her TV shows and we both get what we want. She''s also curious about the game and loves the griffon rides and artwork so I''m thinking of letting her try it out tonight and see if she enjoys it as much as she does Mario Bros. on the Cube.

Lock, that''s exactly what I do. I sit on the couch with her and my laptop while she''s watching TV. When she complains I just say ""so you''d rather I just sit here on the couch instead?"". But of course I get the famous female response ""It''s just different!""

No offense to the females here...
