19-8! Total Yankees domination!

This was a great series.

Congratulations to the Red Sox and all the fans.

Hopefully Wakefield will have his stuff on and pitch 8 good innings (when do you think ANY of Houston or Cardinals last saw a knuckleballer??)

Wakefield is not the only knuckleball pitcher in the majors; it''s probably only been a month or two since either team last faced Steve Sparks...

Park was empty huh?

I think so. The lights were down in the main part of the park, and there wasn''t the usual traffice rerouting and cadre of worthless cops around. It''s not like people were going to sit watching the jumbotron in 40 degree weather for 9 innings.

Hopefully Wakefield will have his stuff on and pitch 8 good innings (when do you think ANY of Houston or Cardinals last saw a knuckleballer??)

The first thing that bothers me about starting wake is that Francona needs Varitek for offense. Varitek doesn''t catch Wak very often, which can lead to some....umm...interesting moments.

The second thing that bothers me is that starting Wake means you can''t use him as a reliver/closer for a couple of days.

Possible pitching schedule I heard this morning:

Wakefield
Shilling (so he pitches at home and does not have to hit)
Pedro
Lowe (I would put Arroyo and have Lowe as a long reliever but that is just me)

The line up makes sense, actually. It''s clear that Pedro didn''t have any finese last night, just heat, so it''s best to rest him.
It''s also clear that Pedro is not ready to be a closer just yet.

I would think that you won''t need Lowe to close, not with Wakefield, Arroyo, Timlin, Embry, and Leskivic. Sure, any one of them on their own aren''t exactly Mariano Rivera, but the way that Francona has managed them, they are doing very well.

Actually, the way Timlin and Embry are playing, I''d be surprised to see Arroyo or Leskivic. Especially if Wakefield has a day''s rest.

I was at Penn Station today....bunch of Red Sox fans were taunting everyone around them in line...

Actually were pretty much assholes to lots of older business type people that probably had no clue who the Yankees were.

Urgh...and not to impressed with your Red Sox women... too many baseball hats and grungy look.

Now...in stark contrast...go to an Eagles game on a Sunday... god damn!!...

Though....some of them get carried away with the big hair...

In reflection... its possible that most of them were still drunk from the previous night...

They racked up one KIA as well - congrats on the win, boo on the festivities afterwards...

Hey Guys we won after all these years
Great lets go riot and burn down the town, injure a cop oh and get one of us killed...
Sounds like a plan
<insert sounds of breaking glass and 10''s of thousands of dollars in damage here>

It will be much worse if the Red Sox win the WS...

Though.. if the Eagles ever won the SB... god help us all...

I still remember the afternoon when The Last Dragon let out downtown... and that was just a movie

How could you not riot after that?

All I know is if they do win a SB I''m getting a couple plasma''s that night....

I think it the Red Sox winning the WS would be on par with Buffalo winning a superbowl.

No, I imagine Buffalo winning a Superbowl would be more of a ""Oh."" kind of moment where you raise your eyebrows, and then check the stats for your fantasy team. Boston, on the other hand, will turn into Mogadishu.

Thanks, Pred. Now I have to clean coffee off of my monitor and keyboard.

As a side discussion, I just have to vent at the media and in the rich college kid assholes who feel roiting after a team wins is fun.

""Let''s take our cameras down to televise the assholes and thereby prod them to new heights in stupidity. Heck, maybe we''ll get lucky and someone will self-immolate like some kind of buddist monk"".

""Gee, I think I''ll cut class tomorrow and turn downtown Boston into a scene from Dante''s Inferno because my favorite team won a game. I feel so, so street. ""

So they do this stupid bullsh*t and some cops get hurt but hey they get paid to anyway and it''s just good clean white rich kids having fun anyway, but then some Darwin Award contender gets too close to the action and takes a pepper ball to the head and gets croaked.

Time to excoriate the cops. ""Too much"", ""Nazis"". Last year when some idiot got waffled by another celebrating drunk the cops did ""too little"". They were ""unprepared"". Bullsh*t!

You buy your ticket, you take your ride. You participate in a riot, you take your chances. You go out to watch a riot, as Boston''s newest saint is being said to have done (by all her freinds and family, whom the news media gives instant credit to as being trutrhful), then you don''t have the common sense God promised you.

By and large, people are assholes.

That''s the god''s truth right there.

So far, Tom ""I Got marbles in my mouth"" Menino, mayor of Boston has come up with the following ideas.

[list]Lansdowne street will either close, or not be allowed to serve alcohol. Probably Both.

No bars in the Kenmore area will be allowed to open or serve.

Police will be out in force, and non-violent weapons are still a go, even if they kill.

My guess is that between the Sox, traffic, and the T, it''s going to be ""utter chaos down here"".

All I can think about is that poor girl. A bunch of drunken A**hole criminals (and that''s what they are) tip cars, threaten and throw things at cops, and the innocent bystander gets killed.

There''s tons of pictures and videos of people tipping cars and lighting fires. I hope they arrest every one of them and put them in jail.

The city of Boston is asking the local Universities to expel any student that''s arrested.

The girl was just standing to the side of the crowds, watching a bunch of idiots. There are a a few eye witness accounts. One of which is in the Boston Herald. Shot in the face by a ""non-lethal weapon"". Dead. I''m not saying the police shouldn''t be out there doing thier best but, they could at least not fire any weapon at eye level.

Mumbles Menino is an idiot. Most of the rioters were coming from dorms and apartments, not from the bars. At least that''s what I''ve been hearing.

He''s not an idiot for suggesting the actions Mateo mentions though. He''s an idiot for participating in a ""Prayer session"" that prayed for the Red Sox to win the World Series.

Don''t assume the weapon was fired at eye level. Don''t assume it was aimed at the area it landeed in, from the same level.
That stuff bounces, and they are balls, not ballistic projectiles.

Less than lethal, not non-lethal. Symantics, but that is the corect term. Any projectile has the possibility of being lethal. Which is a good reason not to stand and watch them being fired at idiots like you''re watching the games at the colliseum.

Ten bucks says they will be serving at the game though.. gotta love those $5.75 miller lites!

Oh, and of course Menino would be taking away people''s liberties during an event where the town is in the spotlight.. that has not happened before in recent history! *cough* DNC cough*.

He does not want to advertise the fact that his town caters to college kids with their older''s brother''s ID and rich foreigners who hang out on Lansdowne going to the clubs.

Punish the bar owners and those that want to drink responsibly because of the acts of a monority of idiots.

Mumbles is in a tough situation, but that''s not the way to go.

Good points.

I don''t think she was aware that there would be pepper bullets (no idea what these even are...Rubber bullets that burn?) fired at the crowd. She got hit with one of the first shots.

They are like paint balls, filled with the same type of pepper spray (Oleoresin Capsicum) as in the spray cannisters. They are intended for use in crowd control, to be shot into the rioters, at which time they break open and make staying around and acting like a dick less appealing. They are not intended to be and indeed the training probably says they should not be fired at the head. But shots go awry when you are being pelted with bottles.

She may well, indeed probably did not expect the use of them, but her age and life experience aside, the dangers inherent in standing and watching a riot take place seem pretty self-evident. She didn''t deserve to die. Period. But the cops who will no doubt be subjected to scrutiny and stress the likes of which most of us have never known don''t deserve it either. And it is all because a bunch of idiots went amuk and and a bunch of fools thought it would be fun to watch.

I''m only defending her. I think the cops were probably a little overzealous but, I don''t think it''s really ""they''re fault""(even though they''ve taken the blame).

Cops have it rough and I would never want to be in the situation where a mob of people started throwing sh*t at me, some of it on fire.

I just think it''s a tragic incident, and one that shouldn''t be blamed on the person who paid for it with thier life. I blame the total f*cknuts who were tipping cars and attacking cops...who should all be in jail. So I think we''re on the same page.

For the most part, we are. And the rest we can ignore. I''ve said more than my piece so I''ll end the venting.

I have been to 6 Red Sox games during my lifetime and it is sad to see Boston turn into another one of ""those"" cities. A lot of people should be ashamed for the way they acted but I guess there is no end in sight for this kind of large city celebration mentality.

That is why I love college football and especially Univ. of TN football. When we win something big, we tear out pieces of the stadium (shrubs, turf, goal posts) and take them with us, we don''t vandalize stuff outside of the stadium. You ask why? Boosters will replace everything and nobody gets in trouble.
