Server update #2 for the day. The GWJ server is all patched up and ready to run the Battlefield Vietnam WW2 mod tomorrow since I see there's a game in Gamecal.
Server Name: Gamers With Jobs
Password: gwjbf
Punkbuster: disabled
If you guys want I'll yank the password and enable punk buster. The server runs CS: Source tonight (Friday) and I'll have it running BF: V WW2 all day Saturday and Sunday.
Outstanding! Looking forward to it.
Thanks Certis! Much appreciated. With only 6 people signed on for Game Cal it might be a good idea to open to the public but I''m cool with just GWJers too.
Is the server just rotating the WWII maps? If not, should we? My vote would be to rotate the WWII maps and maybe throw in the map from the last patch. Actually, I haven''t downloaded it yet, if it is a mod it may default to the maps for WWII already.
I'm still right here
Giving blood, keeping faith
The server is currently running the three WW2 maps only.

Ok, server is switched over now and will run all weekend. If you want a password on there let me know, for now it''s open to all.
Make sure you''re on Xfire when you play!

The server is in the server list as ""Gamers With Jobs"" (use a ""Gamers*"" filter in the name box to do a quick elimination). The IP of the server is 67.99.121.11 I believe.

good games guys.
Some WWII mod thoughts:
These familiar maps looked much nicer with foliage and the updated bfv graphics.
The Invasion of the Philippines map was too big and wasn''t that exciting. It was fun when there were lots of people playing on both sides.
For some reason, the guns felt much more accurate! especially the sniper rifle and m1!
The flame thrower is nice to have but seems unnecessary. There weren''t any trenches or enclosed areas besides some inside building fights that it would come in handy for.
I still can''t fly any of the planes :-(.
Actually I''m glad there aren''t any helicopters.
the jeeps and other vehicles still get destroyed too easily. It seems like there isn''t any fiction when you''re driving and trying to take a sharp turn.

Iwo Jima was the most fun Alan. It was nice to have you on TS too. I think the first time playing with you and being able to curse at you for me.
I agree on all points weapons wise. The flamethrower is OK up close, but worthless at any sort of distance, and even if you get a guy in the face up close with a good blast, if he is healthy he can shooot you and walk away to heal. We''ll see how much legs this mod has.

I don''t think it''s going to have any kind of legs. While it is a decent visual upgrade to bf1942 and a little gameplay wise it is only 3 maps 1 of which i despise, the phillipines one.
Anyway im left wondering why they(dice) would even waste any time working on this? Why not use the resources they used for this on battlefield 2 instead? just doesn''t make much sense to me. It was a nice diversion for one night and even though i loved bf1942 when it came out i don''t see myself spending time with this mod.
I believe its different teams. BF1942 was developed by DICE in Europe I think. BFV was developed by DICE Canada with a codebase split out of BF1942 (thats why some of the features of the later BF1942 patches weren''t present in BFV at launch). I think its DICE Europe and Trauma Studios (the makers of Desert Combat) that are working on BF2.
I agree with Tenchid''s commments though... it was a nice diversion for a night as a blast from the past, but as I was playing I was actually itching more for DC than stock BF1942.
