Hmmm, that logo looks a bit familiar...
Well, one out of three ain''t bad.
Please don''t suck. Please don''t suck. Please don''t suck.....
Too late sheared. Tooooooo late.
I was saving my judgement until I heard about all the changes to the original trilogy. Now I''m just like... uhhhh... no.
It is going to suck.
In other news, this has found it way on the net, it is supposedly from the ROTJ DVD.
Dear god why!
For once, I agree wth Ulairi.
Lucas better not freaking do that. Im tempted to edit the original back in a re-distribute them to people.

Dear god why!
Why?!?! He wasn''t that young when he was killed! Lucas must be stopped.

You agree with me all the time. Just come and join the dark side. Together we will stop Lucas from directing another Star Wars movie. [/quote]
Hmm.. The only thing left for Lucas to do is to have Anakin go on a quest for the golden lightsaber, and then cut to him being chased by a giant ball of lava. After the harrowing CGI escape, cut to Anakin giving up the golden lightsaber to a three foot tall duck named Howard.
The travesty.....
major change in the whole film
Are we talking OT or SE here? I though the DVDs were all SE?

More than SE, they''ve had more changes, such as Hayden added to the end of ROTJ.

Actually there''s no need, the OT is running around on the net in DVD form, ripped from the last good OT release, the laserdisc edition.
I wouldn''t mind these changes if he''d also give us the option of getting the OT on DVD. His personal problems shouldn''t allow him to try to remove a large chunk of our culture as he sees fit.
I have so much disdain for George Lucas, it''s nearly palpable. I''m not even that big a Star Wars fan, but I watched them several times in my youth like most boys, and I did love them for what they were. They are no longer what they were. Lucas is mangling his own earlier work.
It''s as if he is using his ownership of the property to dash all of our childhoods, just a little bit, in some bizarre power trip. George Lucas is a real Hollywood Hitler - cleansing anything he just doesn''t see as good enough from his original films. I hope he comes down with some sort of testicular tumor that can only be cured by him releasing the original, untouched editions of the original trilogy onto DVD... with a $10 rebate coupon for my trouble.
I have a book somewhere that has a bunch of pictures of star wars memorabilia. According to that book the original working title for Return of the Jedi was going to be Revenge of the Jedi but they changed it because Lucas decided that Jedi don''t seek revenge. There were actually some posters printed up with the original name at one time, the book has a picture of one.
Buzzvang posted this when some asked about Qui Gon Jinn.
It''s an interview with Gary Kurtz the producer on SW and SW-TESB. It goes into the Return vs Revenge of the Jedi as well as alluding to the original 9 movies/books.
None of these abortions-on-film would''ve ever seen the light of day, had Kurtz been involved. Still, Revenge of the Sith is the first thing in this entire God-forsaken Prequel run that has made even a lick of sense.
It doesn''t matter, though, because it''s dead to me. The whole goddamned thing is dead to me.
Ahh, the beauty of Intellectual Property.
See, Lucas owns this stuff. Not you or I or anyone.
It may be part of our culture, but it''s not public domain, and the way things are going, it likely won''t ever be. And Lucas probably deep down is making changes in order to make the series the best he thinks it can be.
Yeah, it''s sucks when he changes something we don''t want changed, but what about remastering? You don''t hear anyone complaining about that. You don''t hear complaints about movies being released in Director''s Cuts, which can sometimes change quite a bit of a movie.
Seriously, though, guys, it''s a movie. It''s pulp. It''s space opera. If you hadn''t gone to see it in the theatre when you were 7, like me, you''d probably dis it just like Pitch Black or Starship Troopers.
If you really want to see this sort of thing come to an end, get involved politically. Not that it would matter for _this_ series, but either there''s a severe lack of perspective here or you''d be opposed to this kind of tinkering in general. If it''s the latter, get involved and let your reps know how you feel. If it''s blind nostalgia, then just pull out the flamethrowers and lemme have it.
You''d think someone had gone through the Constitution and systematically dismantled all of our basic rights. Err.
Duck, what he is doing is not remastering. He is making changes to things by adding in stuff that was not there in any original version of the movies. Director''s cuts may alter stuff from what was previously viewed, but it is ORIGINAL work.
Does he have the right to do it? yeah. Do I have the right to Female Doggo about it and call him a jackass? YUP!
duck, your ""relax"" comment is duly noted and appreciated, but I for one, embrace the flash of rage, followed by ambivalence, and resulting apathy that accompanies each and every one of these announcements.

HERETIC!! Burn him!
Honestly, I think Doc Ghastly makes the right call; he (Lucas) can do what he wants, but we certainly don''t need to like him for it, and we''ll definitely call him down for tinkering with something that we already like an awful lot.
Oh, and I can guarantee that nobody will dress up like Riddick in twenty years.
It''s going to suck.
Yeah it will suck, but I will still find myself in the theater watching it. There''s no reason any more, but I still have to go see it for some reason. Like a car wreck you just can''t take your eyes from or somthing.
It''s going to suck.
Short, to the point and unequivocally correct.

I guess the thing that confuses me the most about the wailing, moaning, and gnashing of teeth is: has Lucas sent jack-booted thugs to your home and replaced your copies of the movies with new versions? Are you required to trade in the copies you have for the new ones? Does the technology exist for the copies you already own(have licensed) to be modified the next time you try to watch them?
If your answer is, ""But I don''t have copies of them!"" then you really aren''t the fanatic you seem to be. If the answer is ""But what about the children that haven''t seen it yet?"" then I refer you to my Pitch Black/Starship Troopers comment. The kids don''t care.
Yeah, I''ve oversimplified, but if you already own the ""originals"" I don''t see what the fuss is all about. If you don''t care enough to own the ""originals"" I don''t see what the fuss is all about.
And really, how many of us truly believe that any of the Star Wars flicks is Cinema?
Oh, quit trying to make sense!
My big beef with the whole thing is that I can''t help but think of how good it could have been. I think the story could''ve been more coherent and entertaining. I don''t think the addition of Hairless Farting Camels-style humore added to the series at all. I watch SW and ESB, and it makes me want to see more of the same. Problem is, the rest of it is garbage. Oh, I want it to be good, and I want to like it. I didn''t want to feel like I had pissed 6 hours of my life away after spending an afternoon watching Ep1 back to back (got a good nap, though). But I did. It tends to make me whine. Does it do any good? Hell, no. He''s free to screw up all he wants. It just hurts to see that American Graffiti and Star Wars were exceptions and Howard the Duck is the norm when it comes to Lucas.
Doesn''t matter. Dead to me. Hope you all enjoy evil Bender and the 10 minute SLJ death sequence.

I may have the originals still sitting somewhere at my parents house... but newsflash, they are VHS. Nobody wants/cares about VHS now in the face of the vastly superior (and standard for years) DVD format. The originals stopped being sold years ago around when Episode One came out (1999), actually a little earlier. Sorry if I didn''t have the foresight that the SE''s would be absolute sh*t and that I would need to snap up copies on an archaic media to enjoy the original experience. Sue me for expecting DVD versions before two-thousand-freaking-four.
Does he have the right to do it? yeah. Do I have the right to Female Doggo about it and call him a jackass? YUP!
My vote for quote of the day. My little gaggle of SW fans has given up hope on this one. Our understanding is that Lucas cut a bunch of the footage involving the mechanical Vader. We all want to see the Vader from the classic series stomping around but I guess Lucas doesn''t see it that way.
Our only hope if for Lucas to die and Peter Jackson to rise up and finsh the series.
I would love to see the Thrawn books made into an Anime series.
