Silent Hunter III delayed, but...

...look what we're getting in return!

Heilig raucht! We're finally getting a real follow-on to Aces of the Deep.

Edit: And to cap it off, I've been reading that SH3 will include an MP3 "record" player to play music while you're cruising the Atlantic. Like I said, you could almost call it AoD2.

Double Edit: It's in the Q&A at the official site, and it's a grammaphone. My grandparents should slap me upside the head for my tomfoolery of knowledge, dagnabbit.

Yup, this is probably the best reason I''ve ever seen to delay a game. Kudos to them for trying to make it better.

Not trying to thread hijack, but the posters here will know - has there been any progress on the new Harpoon game or is it literally dead in the water.

Harpoon IV is dead. You can buy ""Harpoon Classic"" and Harpoon III from some very hardcore cottage developers.

I bought Harpoon classic, and played for awhile, but could not recapture the fun I had playing it the first time.

""Dangerous Waters"" is still in development. I have high hopes for it and for SH III

Well thats too bad -I have both of the others. I had kind of hoped one of the wargame companies like Matrix would pick it up and finish it. Sigh... Another one bites the dust.

I think they would have to start it from scratch, to be honest. It went through so many developer changes the code must have been pretty dang bad.

Befor it sunk beneatrh the waves completely (please note nautical referrence) there was talk of UBI relinquishing the code to the rabid fan base to see what could be salvaged, but I never heard that this actually came to pass.

Maybe Matrix will do something like Harpoon in the future? Agood Modern Naval Sim would be nice or even a remake of the Old classic...

They have the rights to SimCan''s modern naval games. That is hopeful news, but they have such a small development staff, and it takes them forever to bring products to market.....

Well if a new modern naval sim ever gets released - I am there with my Fleet :).

According to a post here, Sonalysts is aiming to release Dangerous Waters by the end of the summer. Dive, dive!

A game that does sub hunting right is in my top 3 list of dream games.

The other 2 are ?

Hours of boredom, with seconds of sheer terror/excitement?

Actually, that sounds like my kind of game. I''ve seen Silent Hunter II on the bargain rack. Worth the $5?

2) Longbow 3 with MUCH more emphasis on troop insertions

3) Carriers at War Redux

I could go on....

I would pay good money for LONGBOW 3 - I am there with you. Nap of the earth in a helo - oh yeahhhhh :).

Then there are remakes of Mech Brigade, Marble Madness, Colonial Conquest, 6 Gun Shootout....12 O''Clock High...

But I digress...

I am kind of looking forward to the remake of Sid Meiers Pirates - if it is as fun asthe last one - I will stand in line. I''d also like a Baldur''s Gate 3... and a pony - I want a pony....

Ponies are overrated. Games on the other hand, never kick you in the nads.

True I have never been kicked in the nads by a game - a very valid point - although I did get an Xbox game at Christmas that was thrown to me and caught me between the eyes

Another heartwarming Rockwellesque Christmas at the Spy household.

Exactly - spent yrs playing baseball as a catcher and I was brained by a plastic box - what a moment
