I'm trying to organize a Power Buy of Halo 2

I'm trying to get a hefty discount on the Halo 2 LE from Tech Data.

I'm still working out the details on min. # of units to make this all worthwile.

Not sure what the final price will be but it should be around what cost is to ebgames/gamestop etc..

Shoot me an email at [email protected] if your interested.

I'm thinking I'll need at least 25 units to get a substantial discount so the more people are interested the better we'll be.

Shipping will be UPS Ground to you for around $5ish and no tax will be charged.

Worth it to join in if you''re in Canada?

Just emailed you on this. I''m definitely in.

Count me in too! [email protected]

I can check USPS postal prices for a package that I would estimate it would be..

Not sure do they charge you customs? duty? I could always put $1 on as the worth of the package.

And again not sure how long it would take.. I''m looking at a free 2 day ship from Tech Data warehouse to my house then me organizing all the packages to go out to other people..

So you wont be getting the packages the day the game is released probably more like 3-5 days after depending on where you live.

It will be on the individual if saving $20 or so is worth waiting..

GG, the mail router just kicked my email to you. I''ll try again from home.

I live in Vancouver, so yeah, what Certis said I already have a pre-order at EB, but I have a feeling that they will jerk me around, I''m still bitter at not receiving my Zelda shirt with my 4 Swords pre-order.

I''m definitely in if there''s a 20 USD savings.

uh you did remove the donotspam part right?

No love for the Euros?

Pssh. Shame on you.

Oh yea, I would like to get in on this one. I have waited a lot longer than an extra 3-5 days for this one.

Thanks for bringing this to us, it''s a great initiative!!

What I am interested in the most, though, is not so much savings as whether we will be able to get it earlier than the stores?

I''m in.

Well, that depends. When I worked in Wal-Mart''s electronic dept. we got our copies of Warcraft III like a week or two early. We weren''t allowed to sell them but I heard that another store in our area did, due to a mistake. It all depends on what the manager would want to do, I should think.

You are referring to the special edition version, yes?

Special Edition correct.

I''m assuming Tech Data as a distributor will get the copies early.. How much earlier I have no idea as they also do not.

I suspect if it is earlier it wont be much earlier.

Yeah I did. Seems that Game* is blocked by the mail server.

Sounds good. I emailed you as well.

Count me in.

Unless my wife gets me an Xbox for my birthday, I won''t be in Darn you all and your Xboxes, it''s like the dark side of the force....and it''s getting stronger.

I''m in, fired an email your way GG. Great idea, thanks!

You know, I''m not in this one because I''d rather wait for the PC version, but it''s a great idea, and I wouldn''t mind participating in some forthcoming ""Power Buy"" for other titles...

Way to go GG

I just double checked to avoid confusion..

It is in fact referred to as the Limited Collectors Edition

Here is the link on ebgames for those wondered what the extra''s are

Has there ever been a mention of a PC version? Of course, it could happen, but I don''t recall anyone saying that. And since Halo 2 is destined to sell extraordinarily well either way MGS/Bungie is likely to keep it truly Xbox-exclusive.

Way to ruin my day, Spunior.

It may be a little early, but has anyone given any thought to taking a similar approach in order to facilitate cheaper purchases of either Sony PSP''s or Nintendo DS''s?

I wonder would getting 20+ people together for a bulk purchase be possible and/or worthwhile?

This is something I definetly will consider..

This will be a good idea of what kind of bulk numbers for specific orders I will need to make it worthwhile..

I just opened my Tech Data account this week so its still getting paperwork resolved etc..

My concern is getting capital to buy 25 PSP''s..

That would run me $5000 for say $200 a unit..if I get stiffed on enough units its a hassle.. with game software the hit to my wallet is less of an issue if I get stiffed for a few units.

You get stiffed, we send out the enforcers. Win win! I volunteer for anyone that''s within, say, 100 miles.

Yeah, I have your back too. Anyone backs out, swift kick to the boys, then we take your wallet.

Why not just wait for the deposits to clear? Via Paypal or whatever floats your boat. I''d be up for a DS buyout.

I would also be into a DS buyout.. as for the PSP, well.. we''ll see how that pans out first (UMD movies can kiss my ass)

Any idea what the final price point will be?
I''d be interested if the time frame is fast (heck before street possibly)... But I am salivating at the thought of having the game , so I might not be able to hold out if it would take a week or more than street. (well maybe if it was $20 cheaper I might)

BTW for larger items like the PSP, you might want to either take prepayments or do an escrow deal if you are worried abotu getting stiffed. (although honestly you could probably hawk them off on Ebay for as much as you paid for them if not more)

No.. my sales guy doesnt work weekends.. I think I''ll have an idea of quantity and price next week.

I suspect even if TechData gets the game before street given the time it will take to ship the game to me and then for me to ship to each person theres no way its going to be before street before it reachs peoples hands.

Thought I''m just speculating.. on street dates.
