Have you seen chumpy''s new one?
I''m pretty much the sole gamer at work (make it easier to chew up bandwidth downloading demos), but I have slowly converted a few to our dark ways.
All these new people with their disturbing avatars are scaring me...
I''m pretty much the only gamer in my area. One or two guys are showing mild interest, but nothing approaching actual willingness to play.
Actually, there is a consultant here that was a gamer. He even did some online deathmatching, which is a pretty good measure of gamer-ness if you ask me. Too bad he''s leaving soon.
That game wallpapers sounds like a good idea. Think I''ll give it a shot.
Seeing as I work at a video game retailer all of my employees are gamers. From the Evercrak addict, to the ""I must have two copies of every game! One to play and one to keep sealed just in case cause I paid $118 on ebay for Tales of Destiny!"" (True story), then there is someone like me who plays any game no matter what system it is on and of course we have the middle age boss who only has a PS2 and barely plays. Although I did get him hooked on Sacred.
if I count one guy who at makes the effort, but hasn''t quite hit the full-on gamer yet
The first one is free, they never refuse the first one, then they are hooked for life. No worries Chumpy, he will crumble, all in good time. Consider him my pet project for this year, kinda like you were for your first MMORPG.
I work in a public school system. My tech dept has about 4 gamers (if you can call them that) 1 Everquest freak, 1 dude with a PS2 in his Jag who plays only madden 2004, 1 that runs around and shoots anything that moves in CS, and me. It is pretty nice when we all get together for a lan party though, about 10-12 (friends included, not just people from work) in one room, playing CS or UT.
An Infinite Lives for every occasion.
Thats a great IL. Missed that one somehow. Sometimes it is best to hide your gaming habit to avoid being pulled into such conversations.
This is the first time in my tech career that I''m the lone gamer, and it can make for a pretty dull workday when you''ve got no one to shoot the gaming breeze with.
I started in this industry working for an online gaming outfit (long since defunct). From there, we did a brief stint of running our own shop, where we played a lot of EQ (and got the current technical director of that same game hooked on it). Finally, I landed at my current shop. Started out with two other heavy gamers, but they''ve since moved on.
Lots of gamers here at my workplace. The CEO is a big on games himself. The other good thing is we almost all play mostly the same games collectively. Work hard, play hard.
It''s tough when people ask ''What are your plans for the weekend?''
I tell them I have a COD match on Friday night, a BFV match on Sat, have to try out that new MMO beta...
The stares...ouch!
I''m coming out of the gaming closet at work today. My shirt actually says ""Gamer"" on it. It''s getting mixed reviews. I say mixed because some people just aren''t even familiar with the term. They have to ask for specifics. The few that already know I''m a gamer are laughing and shaking their heads. Those that didn''t know, but understand, seem to appreciate it.
Nobody has actually initiated a gaming discussion yet, though.
Are restaurants gamer retreats? Is there something I don''t know? (Ok, there''s plenty I don''t know, but about the restaurant-gamer connection?)
I don''t know if they are gamer retreats but since most of the employees who work at most restaurants are young then they are more inclined to be gamers. That being said, most of the restaurants that I have worked in the past have had more than its share of console and pc ""junkies"".
