Going to E3?

With Certis, Pyro, Sway, and myself attending E3 this year I'm just curious which of you we should avoi ... run screaming fr ... keep an eye out for?

Me and some of my friends here at work will be crusin'' the floor.

I''ll be the one heckling the Infinitum boys demoing the Phantom (looks like they''ll be in south hall if they show up).

I''ll be there but probably only for one day most likely either Thursday or Friday, haven''t decided which one yet.

Thurday only for me. I would suggest Thursday. Friday most booths will most likely be tearing down, getting ready to leave. Most of the attendee''s will probably be going home Friday. Not as much buzz, but you might get a few cool props that some places just throw away

We''ll be there all three days. How many people go to E3 each year? How tough is it to meet up there?

I will probably go Thursday then since my girlfriend has Friday off and lives in LA. Then I can just crash at her house afterwards and hang out with her all day on Friday. So Thursday it is!

We''ll be there all three days.

Show off.

I''m trying to figure out a way to ""be in the industry"" so I can get in.

I would of like to go there... too. However I''m not in the industry or in public or have any time....

I so want to go to E3 next year (the new console E3); I''ve never been, but would love to go.

I''ll do whatever it takes to be ""in the industry"" (be it writing for GWJ or another fansite, or something else), and would love to get to meet some of you folks.

Well... I''m not technically ""in the industry"". But the software company I work for develops software that could possibly, and I think actually has been used as a component in a game engine. Had to submit proof though (paycheck stub, bus. card, magazine add for our software, etc.)

However, one of the guys I''m going with worked for Microsoft Games for a while before coming here. He''s been and knows all about it. I should ask him how many usually go each year.

Oh yeah, and if I get my butt in gear and finish my design concept doc, I might have an opportunity to pitch a game design to Microsoft Games

Taking my first year off from E3 in six years. I just can''t afford to take time off work. I hope you all have a great time.

BTW, BrokenCrayon, I love your avatar. Office Space is probably my all-time favorite movie. ""I...I could set the building on fire...""

It might be tough for you guys to find and set a place up. If you guys want to meet up it should be infront of the Coffee Shop/Trailer infront of the West hall. Another good place is infront of the information booth between West and South Hall.

I cannot go this year due to my finals taking place on the days of the con. DAMN YOU SCHOOL!

I didn''t get to go last year as I hadn''t been with the company I worked for long enough yet. I would have been eligible to go this year, but of course I switched jobs and am no longer ""in the industry.""

Just watch out for the rampant booth babes and the flashing lights. I hear E3 these days puts Las Vegas to shame as far as over the top garish decoration goes . . .

You say that like it''s a bad thing.

The eastern block babes are the best. Not as fake looking as the strippers many booths get. Howerver, the DOA girls are nice.

Its a zoo. Trying to find someone that you dont know what they look like is much harder without a cel phone. Plus more than likely the cel reception wont be stellar.

It''d be best to like post on the site to meet at such and such booth at 12:30 or something like that. Im pretty sure they have internet access stations there.

Ill try to make it down. How much is it? like $300 for a basic pass?

It isn''t that hard. When I met someone they just walked into the IGN booth and asked for me the night before. Not telling people who they were or anything. Ofcourse I was suppose to be meeting with someone from EA and I thought it was them so I spent that night waiting there and the putz never showed up until the next day.

I believe it''s free if you sign up by a certain date.

I think the exhibit floor is free. I haven''t payed anything, and I don''t expect to unless they aren''t telling me something.

Free Admission to the Exhibit floor is available until April 9, 2004 and is open only to qualified members of the interactive entertainment industry.

edit: d''ah, ya beat me!
