Shell Replacement Thread

Any of you guys use replacement shells?

I've tried them all, at one time or another, and settled on this one as my shell.

Fast, configurable, easy to use, and good looking.

I''ve considered registering with AstonShell for use in my BartPE CD but I haven''t had the time to play with it for a while.

I''ve tried litestep but reverted back to normal windows xp shell because I was actually more productive with it.

Are there any screenshots of bblean?

I used litestep a LONG time ago, back in... 98 or so. I liked it, but not enough to switch my home machine to it.

I tried litestep as well. It was really cool except for the part where it kept crashing.

There are 3 forks of Blackbox for windows. BB4Win, BBlean, and a fluxbox clone, Bluebox.

The good thing is, all the ""styles"" work across all the forks.

Here is a general screenshot repository for y''all to check out,

I''m currently using NC-17''s minimal style, which looks like this:

Swith the positions of the bottom bar and the winamp bar on the top, and you have an idea of my desktop.

Man, Mateo thanx for that it one of the few I haven''t played with and it works damn well.

I was wondering if they had a Fluxbox version, awesome.

I have a conch shell. I can hear the ocean in it when I put it to my ear. I think there may be something dead in it, but that stopped stinking a long time ago. It''s got a chip out of one corner, but I hardly think that''s reason enough to replace it.

Careful with the fluxbox version.

Nivenh is a pretty good shell coder, but he just posted his a dev release. He calls it a .50.....

I use fluxbox on my gentoo machine at work. I''m pretty happy with it... Maybe I''ll check this out.
