Sacred> Thanks to all

The review and commentary here persuaded me to give it a try; thanks to the tips about installs, patches, etc. I got it up and running pretty fast....

And it *is* very cool; I started a Wood Elf very late last night and already got her up to Level 4 (died twice, but because Sacred keeps you in the game, death isn't as disruptive as in Diablo II). The hidden caches are a nice feature, not as common as in Diablo 2, but with good stuff- bit not *too much*, as in Dungeon Siege). I can see many hours with it (good and bad) and replaying with different characters. Also looking forward to investigating the Combos.

One thing I don't like is the lack of scrolling; or is that a game setting I've missed?

I'll be praying to St. Expeditus (cf 04/15/2004 WSJ front page) to help me complete it.....

It is a fun game isn''t it? I made a battle mage and got him up to level 12 I think so far. Now I''m having class envy and I want to trying something else but I don''t want to slog through all the same stuff again. Argh!

Patch 1.6 came out today, rumors are it really increases performance and also adds an increase to xp points earned.

I''m with Certis on the class envy too.
Had a wood elf hit level 40 and as then wanted to just put her on the side and briefly try other classes. Since that time, I''ve created a battle mage, a few dark elfs, a seraphim and last night a vampire. One day, I''ll get back to my patient wood elf.

Argh- you people are going to bankrupt me yet. Must.... resist....

I just picked this up today.....if its as good as D2, or Divine Divinity, then I expect massive loss of sleep combined with abject poverty when my wife divorces me.

When are they gonna set up a sacred game night

From what I gather, the server machine doesnt need to be godlike and you can run 16 players on it.

Damn man, give me a chance to catch up a bit before you start the multiplayer madness!

I really like the single player. There doesn''t seem to be much appeal to multiplayer, for me. It might be fun if we tried to hack each other up for a little while. I just don''t see it comparing to the excitement level of a BFV, UT2k4, or Raven Shield game.

I dunno, beating each other senseless in warcraft 3 is kinda fun.....

LOL! It figures! I finally found a working NoCd crack for 1.5 yesterday. Sigh...

I would be very interested in gaming online, however I''ve never been able to stay connected for more than 3-4 minutes on closed a-net. Hopefully the patch remedies this situation.

16 player mayhem doesn''t sound as appealing as the 4 player coop multi to me. 4 player coop with Teamspeak might be very sweet.

Closed A net is weak at best. I had a lot of router troubles originally, and then I tweaked some settings and could get onto Closed A net. Of course, I then found out that a 5 min gaming session is about as far as you can get before getting disconnected.

My friend set up a game on his machine (not even a dedicated server, just a normal multiplayer open game) and we played for 2 hours straight and I didnt have any lag at all. was a good time.

I would tend to agree on the coop being more appealing than the hack and slash. I want to see how the enemies scale in terms of hit points and damage when there are 4 people smacking them around.
