I was looking at upgrading my video card in the near future and was wondering if this card:
ATI Radeon 9200 Video Card / 128MB / AGP 8X / TV Out & RCA
is worth the money. It is only $99 new and I wanted to know if this would be adequate for today's games or if I would just be wasting my money on it.
My current card is an Nvidia GeForce 4 MX / 64 MB / TV Out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Depends what you use your PC for mostly and how often you upgrade. If you don''t upgrade often, a card like the 9200 may run out of usefulness soon.
But for $100, pricewatch has several vendors that sell the ATI 9600 card with 256MB of RAM. If you''re set on the 9200 though, I see some vendors on pricewatch with it for as low as $41.
Nvidia just announced its new card series will be out soon (supposedly as soon as 45 days) so that should hopefully lower the costs of other cards on the market.

Yeah I would say look for the 9600 or 9800 if you want someting to get a few years out of... the 9200 is barely an upgrade from what you have now.
The voices say hello.
I would save another couple of weeks or so and get a 9800 Pro. It will carry you for quite some time. This is my first ATI card eveer and I love it! Their drivers are finally on par with Nvidia''s and the image quality is outstanding.
Thanks guys, I appreciate the info.

This is some good info, but does anyone know the difference between the 9600 256MB Card and the 9800 Pro 256 MB Card besides the $200 price difference?
What do I get for the extra money and is it worth it?
All right Timmy, where did the angel touch you?
Extra rendering pipelines and clock speed, IIRC. Whether or not it''s worth it is up to you, I suppose.
