your occupation?

Software Engineer/Network Administrator/Database Administrator heh.

It seems since I am the one who can do everything, I end up being the one who does everything

Do you have any books by the Author Jonathan Harbour? It seems possible.

Quite possible but I dont remember them all. And if I did, I probably only got through the 2nd or 3rd chapter.

PAR

I sold my soul for a (semi) short commute and a paycheck. That is all.

Par: Heh. I''ll have to mention it to him, he sits in the cubicle next to me. He always find it amusing when people buy his books.

My job hasn''t changed much since the last thread on this topic. I still work for an Application Service Provider doing client support engineering. I''ve worked with iPlanet, BroadVision, BEA WebLogic, Vignette, Plumtree (briefly...but mentioned in an earlier post), Apache, Tomcat and the odd random app here and there. I mostly keep these apps running on Solaris and Red Hat Advanced Enterprise. I have a few Win2K servers thrown in there for good measure every now and then.

Oh...and I''m on call 24/7 and commute an hour each way. That can be a serious drag. It''s one of those jobs I found myself in and I''m not sure how I got here or how to get out.

uh, DEATH

Being on call bites. I hate that about my job.

Student, writer, game developer.

Student, freelancer at Silver Style Entertainment (Hey, did you see our first dev diary and these animation studies! Ahem, okay, I''ll shut up.), GWJ token Euro known as Spunior, which may or may not be the Indian phrase for ""He who has a soft spot for smaller game projects"". Ain''t I great?

<--- Four Jobs in the order of importance (#4 Pays better but not enough when you have the first three as unpaid):
1. Daddy of one Man-Child
2. Husband of One Wife (what you think i''m in Utah?)
3. Gamer
4. Systems Admin for a Manufacturing Company/Tech Guru/Guys whos Blamed when the PCs don''t work/Studly COmputer Nerd!

I am a Systems Librarian at a college. I''m on the faculty, but mostly do systems administration & tech development, as well as research.

Software Engineer
C#, .Net and all that jazz.
I''m a highly placed government agent. Thats all they will let me admit.

Ok not really, I work for the state legislature.

Software developer for a large IT consulting firm which contracts with DoD. I do mostly VB.NET and C#, but I''ve done my time with Java and ColdFusion.

I''m the evening/weekend coordinator for the theatre and fine arts department at one of the colleges here. I went back to school after graduating with an art degree (that''ll really get ya the big bucks let me tell ya) to get an IST (information systems technology) degree, only to graduate right after the dot.com bust. So, I''m kinda stuck here (lousy hours 2-10pm) and havn''t been able to find a new job in the technology field, like I want.

Software Engineer (C++, C#, builds & installshield). I also do technical marketing evaluations and would like to move into that side of marketing full-time eventually.

Nuclear Engineer. Though I agree with ya, Painthappens, about my other jobs being better as well!

I''m a software developer for a financial company. We use java for pretty much everything although there is a bit of PLSQL. We don''t do anything bleeding edge technology-wise but unlike some of the loser technology companies I''ve worked for, we''re actually profitable.
