Played a friend's copy at a LAN party this past weekend, and now I plan on getting it.

I am probably going to pick up the PC version, as I suck at anything shooter-like with the X-Box controller.

Anybody else got / getting the PC version? The MP is pretty dang tense, but I think playing it with an unknown partner who might crank the gamma correction up would ruin it, so I'm hoping some of you guys might start playing....

I''m on the fence as to which version to get, really. First I thought-Xbox, since that seems to be the natural habitat for Splinter Cell.

But since I''m starting to play online more, I''m looking at the PC version more closely. Who knows, that sound behind you in your next game may be (cue dramatic pause and music)-

Ths fists of furry!

I can''t decide whether to pick this up, or BF:V. PT sounds awesome, but only if you play against people you know. Unfortunately, my schedule is screwy (work nights) so I play at unpopular times. BF:V sounds like it still needs some work. Decisions, decisions....

If you pick up the PC version, Swampy, I will too.

my biggest beef with the PC version over the Xbox is I dislike using the mousewheel for movement speed..

I much prefer the analog stick to control how fast I move.

That''s the kind of deal I can use to rationalize the purchase. Deal!

Now, get your CIV turn sent to Dutty!

I probably will not have the game until this weekend.

$30 at Comp USA, $28 at GoGamer, but $5 shipping.

Well, if you will be playing allot by yourself, than PT is the way to go, but I HIGHLY recommend BF-V for online multiplayer.

My problem with the Xbox version is aiming... I mean I have no problems to make head shots in split second, however those damn light bulbs... I can wait all the ammo I have and still miss it! Arh...

I got used to that pretty quickly.

You don''t have problems quickly aiming a gun with the stick? I just cannot get that down.

I have PT, and would be up for a little MP this weekend, if you guys can
bear someone who''s pretty bad at this stuff.

Robear

If I get the game in time for the weekend I''ll throw something up on the calander.

I''d be up for a mp game. I have yet to play it multiplayer but have been really enjoying the sp game. I''d join an mp game so long as no one mocks me for being the first one caught/dead/humiliated.

I picked up PT last week (PC), but have only scratched the surface. I''ve never played a splinter cell / rainbow 6 / etc. type game and I''m a little intimidated by the learning curve. Still, I''d like to give the multi player aspect a shot. At the very least I''ll be like a fodder to you guys.

I''m really, really loving this title multiplayer on the Xbox. My problems with getting the PC version are twofold:

1) The idiotic checks for virtual drives. Sorry UbiSoft, I use virtual drives. I buy every game I play, but I''ll be damned if I''m going to keep a stash of ""Play Disc""s sitting around for each game I want to play. Hence, I have a virtual drive. Until this disappears, I won''t buy the game.

2) The quality integration of voice in the game on Xbox. Sure, you can use TeamSpeak on the PC, but it''s just not the same. On the Xbox, spies can talk to each other and mercs can talk to each other separately. If a spy hits a merc with a spy bullet, the spies can listen in on the conversation. If a spy passes a spy trap, the mercs can listen in on the spies. If a merc gets caught in a headlock, the spy can whisper sweet nothings. When you''re dead or asleep, you can''t talk to your partner to tell him that spy is right behind him. That''s the biggest deal killer for me, it''s simply too well done on the Xbox to think about the PC version seriously.

Yes, I aim better with the mouse and keyboard... you''re talking to a serious Quake 3 railwhore. But between Halo and the other action games, I''ve made my adjustments to the controller. It''ll never be as accurate or quick, but the benefits of the Xbox version outweigh the benefits of the PC version for me.

UPDATE: I forgot to mention two other ways of listening in: if you use the binoculars as a spy and have the merc in sight, you can hear that merc''s side of the conversation. As a merc, if you use your zoom on a spy, you can listen in to his side too. Lovely details.

I didn''t know it had an issue with virtual drives still

Hell, I don''t either. I''m assuming it does, since that''s what I''ve heard most recently. If someone can disprove this I''d be willing to at least try it and ""slum"" on the PC version if I can''t talk anyone into an Xbox session :).

You wouldn''t be worried if you saw how many times this weekend my buddy and I, playing as mercs, shot each other in a panic when we''d come up on each other in the dark.

When you''re dead or asleep, you can''t talk to your partner to tell him that spy is right behind him.

That just doesn''t sound right. In fair sense of the word.

Anybody know of a better deal than the $34.90 price tag at gogamer.com? Difficulty: no blood sacrifices.

if I can''t talk anyone into an Xbox session

Consider me talked in :).
I''m loving the xbox version and chose it for a lot of the same reasons. After playing the demo it was obvious it was made to be played on the xbox. Frankly, I''m surprised so many people with xboxes have bought it on the pc, considering how great the live support is.

*ColdForged smooches phragged*

""Oh happy dayyyyyy!!""

""Hey look man, I know I''m dead and all.. just think of me as your own personal Angel of Mercy and Protection when I say that you''re fixing to be choked to death if you don''t turn around right now.""

Doesn''t work for me. If you''re dead or incapacitated, it only stands to reason that you shouldn''t be able to divulge valuable intelligence to your teammate.

""Hey I got killed, but both mercs are in the Lobby, so go ahead and get the canister in the Arcade!""

That just doesn''t sound right. In fair sense of the word.

I bought the PC version simply because of the (local) friends that I have that would potentially play, few have Xboxes, and even fewer have Live. Heck, my Live subscription ran out I think.

That and the Xbox is upstairs with the big TV that my wife and daughter have taken over. The PCs downstairs are my only refuge now.

$30 at CompUSA

EDIT: Oopsie, that is the original.

PT is 39.

GoGamer''s is 27.90 if you click on ""48 Hour Madness""

Due to my inability to read the written word correctly, I did not order from GoGamer until today, so I probably won''t be looking for an online game until next weekend.

You people realize that I simply can''t resist a $27 offer for this game on PC, right? You also realize that this means I have just placed an order, right? I am now caught supporting a practice I find abhorrent because I have no self control. Thanks a ton.

Now, anyone know how to get past the virtual drive horsesh*t? You got me into this, you gotta get me through :).

Same, anyone comfirm no virtual drive issues with the PC version and I will probably get it too.

Now, anyone know how to get past the virtual drive horsesh*t? You got me into this, you gotta get me through .

THERE ARE NO VIRTUAL DRIVE ISSUES.

The first patch has a bug where it says something about virtual drives and can''t run, even on computers where the person has no such software. I run a virtual drive and I could run the game fine so I don''t think it''s a ""protection"" thing for them. It''s more of a ""we don''t test our damn patches"" sort of issue.

I''d recommend holding off on patching like Elysium, Sway, Gaald and I did. Wait for something a bit more concrete with real updates before patching.

Anybody have that ""jump back from the screen moment"" yet, when playing as a Merc and using the electromagnetic spectrum viewing goggles, the spy gets right up in your face before you see him?

Any game that can make me do that is an automatic purchase.
