N-Gage #2 Pic?

Well, no guarantee for anything since this site didn't provide any information on the source and since they wouldn't be the first to fall victim to a 'fan-made' design. Major change: unlike the original N-Gage, this one doesn't require you to do the 'taco-to-the-ear'-aproach when you're using it as a mobile phone. (That was also mentioned at other sites.)

Neither does it require disassembly to change games...

No taco to the ear? Then you won''t be sidetalkin''!.
Seriously, the people behind the N-Gage are {ableist slur}s. If Jesus popped up tomorrow, he would begin his reign by cleansing the world of the Nokia games division.

Then he''d move on top the copy protection turds at UBI Soft

I dunno. Maybe I''m just chanelling my inner nerd but I like the idea of having games on my phone.
However I agree that the selection of games was woeful. Not quantity/quality wise but choice of genre. I find playing snake if fiddly so a 3d FPS on a small screen and ittle bittie controls isn''t going to wash, sorry.

They should decide which it is. A phone with games attached or a games handheld that also does phone stuff. Including a radio/mp3 player souldn''t be that much of a jump either.

What I''d really like to see is a game that allows me to (infrequently & cheaply) contact a permanant server to save & update my account as well as allowing me to go head to head via bluetooth and also offering single player gameplay as well.
It''s not much I swear...

slashdot seems to think otherwise, not that that necessarily reflects reality.

as for the pic, yeah it looks faked to me but it could just be a very early prototype.

So the lesson (if this is true) here is that companies won''t make original games anymore, because they might not make money, but they are more than willing to dump money into the production of the replacement of a proven loser.

This is why I will never believe it is the consumer''s fault that the game industry has stagnated.

I can just see the marketing department meeting confusion...

<pr guy>Ok, so it''s like a phone and a games machine.
Our market research indicates that there is a strong corellation between the tartget markets of these two products.

<tech guy> ?

<pr guy>..Teenagers man, they''re either talking on a phone or playing games, so why don''t we give them a device that can do both.

<tech guy> but, but, this does neither of them well. And it''s expensive

<pr guy>Our research also indicates that teenagers are morons with enough disposable income to buy a 400euro crappy game-phone. If our marketing campaign suggests that the n-gage can lead to outdoors sex then it''s sold...
Maybe we should call it something more X-treme...""

Just in case I''m sending mixed signals, I love the idea and the possibilities therein, hate the implementation...

Man, you know somebody has time on their hands when they fake an N-GAGE picture of all things! Like really, they would get more attention doing PS2 or XBox 2 or something. Which is why it must be real, because who in their right mind would take time out of their day to fake an N-Gage picture?

*ROUND 2*

Mobile-phone giant Nokia is set to announce Wednesday the first major revamp of its N-Gage game player, addressing many of the design and business issues that have limited sales of the current version.

The N-Gage QD is set to go on sale in late June, priced at $199. The new version is about 20 percent smaller than the original and has been redesigned for more comfortable use as a cell phone.
