Anyone been able to get a hold of Sacred?

The shipments for EB and Gamestop were supposed to arrive yesterday. They didnt and the managers said that they didnt know when to expect it.

Not very encouraging news...

Mmm I''ll swing by Fry''s this weekend but they ussualy get things in even later.

If Syberia had come out this week, I''d already have both in my hot little hands. As it is, I''m holding off until next week sometime. Making two mall trips in a week is just too much temptation. Some days it''s a good thing there are no proper game stores nearby.

I forgot all about it...

how about gogamer.com?

Gogamer.com has the unedited version, from what I understand.

Unedited? Is there a censored US version?

Theres a UK (International) and a US Version. The US producer of the game decided to take out some of the gore and violence. There is nothing different between the two versions except for the level of gore.

I got the UK version from gogamer, it arrived Wednesday. Im loving it so far. Havent jumped onto the closed servers yet, mostly because I hear once the game is patched and balanced they are doing a character wipe. So I am tinkering with different classes in single player right now.

If you were a D2 fan, I''d highly recommend.

Was reading some forums in the Sacred Community, came across this website:

http://eng.sacred-game.com/index.php

In the forums on that site, it says that by simpling changing a value in a config file, you can enable all the gore in the US version. Not sure how accurate that is, but people who were gonna order the UK version for the gore may be able to save some bucks and buy the US version and just enable the gore.

Just an FYI...in the FAQ on this website, it says

Mirko Worsley from Ascaron posted a definite statement to end the speculations: ""It will NOT be possible to change any part of the config file to include blood in the US version. It will also NOT be possible to add settings in the registry, create a blood patch for the US Version to include blood. In general, it will NOT be possible to do this.""

Just thought I''d let you know.

Is there anything missing other than extra gore in the US version? I''m not going to bother importing a game just for that (though I prefer having the developer''s original vision). However, if there''s more edited for the US release, I''ll seriously consider importing.

On that topic, when you import a European computer game, is there any compatibility issues with the US version of Windows running it? Regional lockout, that sort of thing?

From what I understand, it''s only gore that is the difference.

I want my gore TV!

The Republicans in Florida prevented that from ever happening...

The Bastards, how dare they. I have spent countless years utterly desensitizing myself to the suffering of animated characters and gore. Who dares take away my freedom to wallow in giblets and gushing internals across my screen... why I aughta... wait I better not go there less the Ashcroft Ninja squad be dispatched to my home and beat me with electric batons like any other teacher union supporter should be...

I might have drifted off topic a bit. What is the deal with no gore in the USa, usually it''s only no gore in Germany or pansy countries ;), was just a box rating issues?

My EB got a shipment today right when I stopped in. The shipment only had one Sacred in it. SNAG!

How about some impressions from those of you who''ve got it. Between, Far Cry, Pandora Tomorrow & UT2K4 my plate is seriously full....But, this looks pretty cool, and as I may have mentioned in the past, I''m a sucker for anything that offers co-op.

Yeah, I''m curious how fun the game is, and how long it would keep my attention. To this day, I still go on periodic Diablo 2 binges, but similar titles typically don''t hold my attention as well. Hated Dungeon Siege with a passion (it barely qualifies as a game to me), Harbinger and Nox (or whatever it was called) just didn''t do it for me. Divine Divinity has come closer than the others, but the wildly ranging difficulty level really throws me off. Fun game, though.

I was very impressed with the demo, but it''s really easy (on purpose I assume), and is timed. You know you''re enjoying a game when you get angry that the demo just timed out and you re-start

It was indeed a box-rating issue. The level of gore was causing them to teeter on the edge of a ""M"" rating, so they had to tone it down to get ""T"" rating. For those anticipating a patch to turn it on, the following is from a company spokesman in the FAQ:

""It will NOT be possible to change any part of the config file
to include blood in the US version. It will also NOT be possible to add
settings in the registry, create a blood patch for the US Version to include
blood. In general, it will NOT be possible to do this.""

@sigfry: The demo was not timed, but it stopped when you left the borders of the newbie area.

I would not suggest to buy another version just because of the gore-effects. They are not that important... some blood pools and very rare a severed limb or head.
I turned them off soon because they obstructed my vision a bit.

You can enable ""gore"" in the US version:

To enable gore mode, browse to your Sacred folder (under program files\\ascaron) and edit the setting.cfg file with notepad. Change the value:

Violence: 2

to

Violence: 1

The Gamestop and EB were both sold out in my area. ""We might get more, I dunno""

I got it at my local ebgames...

They had 1 copy...thats it..

1 copy....not 1 left...just 1 that came in.

Gamestop that I got mine from got it a day late. They order 3 and 2 were preorders. When they told me that, I reserved the third for myself.

Its absolutely {ableist slur} a game like this cant get shelf space. I mean I know its a Euro dev but cmon. Let the word of mouth do its magic. 3 copies for a, so much more than, generic clone of a game that sold millions of copies worldwide is a travesty.

This game is better than anything that came out of the BG:DA engine... by far.

I told you about my eb at the Exton Mall...

They have zero shelf space for pc games.. of any kind..even budgetware

You have to ask them for whatever PC game you want...then the sales droids look all shocked and mutter to themselves...

I think we may have that in back...let me check..

Actually thats a great point...

It''s a classic example and shining star in the old PC vs Console argument..

This game shows why the PC is so great and why sometimes PC gamers are snobs..

This game has so much more to do and see and in general is a deeper game that what you''ll find on consoles..

And thus! will sell like crap.

Ah, but can you take off your armor and parade around in your smallclothes like in Champions of Norrath?
