English Sacred Demo

Since I've been asked by several people, I'd like to point that out: ze demo. Expected to be up at every file service imaginable soon. Diablo (2) fans shouldn't ignore this one.

Looks interesting. I''ll head over toGamershell, see if they have it on their servers.

Woo! I''ve got the demo, now I just need to try it. I tried the German one briefly and it gave me a real Divine Divinity buzz.

Hopefully this one can match that!

Good timing as I just finished DivDiv last night. Took me forever, though....

Spunior looks just like Colonel Klink.

it seems pretty good...from the demo at least..

Very Diablo 2ish.. which isnt a bad thing.

I''d agree that it feels very D2ish but looks a lot prettier.

I really enjoy it. I have only done about 2 quests and killed a million little goblins, but very fun.

I''ll have some demo impressions up soon, I don''t want anyone to miss this one in the shuffle of UT2K4 and the Painkiller demo.

I like it alot!

I think the only problems I can foresee is object clutter and pathing. There are spot where the trees are bunched together which looks nice but it could be difficult to find a path through them. The only other things I can mention is it took me 10 minutes to figure out how to switch between assigning skill points and increasing stats at level up. Also, the crossbows seem to fire too slow but that may change for the bow specialist character, the wood elf. (I think theres a wood elf character) A little nitpick I can add is having to go through the 3 second dismount animation to pick up an item on a horse.

The Seraphim is great! Her very first special attack seems wicked. It attacks everybody in melee range multiple times, killing all of them. I tried out a big axe on her which was fun, however, I found a 2 curve bladed spear that is wicked fast and attacks enemies twice! I think it even attacked an enemy in front and behind me on the back swing.

Its like finally I can get behind a character that chews it up in melee. The close combat animations remind me of Dynasty Warriors so I wont be getting bored of the click fest. (ala barbian and paladin)

The quests are right up my alley, short, sweet and plentiful. I much prefer this than long drawn out multistaged epics. I think epics hurt replayability. Just look at act 3 of D2 and why everyone hates it so much.

Thanks to Spunior for calling this to my attention and Certis for the demo impressions. I will definitely be buying this game.

If done well, my friend, if done well (see Harbinger, etc.).

A lot of these games fail in either of 2 places.

One they lack polish and substitute it with trying to do too much. They tend to tack on a lot of gimmicky features.

Two, they fail to have any really playable characters or characters fall under the power curve as the difficulty ofthe game progresses. Its one thing to have a neat idea for a character. Its another to make it playable and/or functional.

I think Harbinger is an example of the latter.

IMHO Divine Divinity is a more successful version of the former. (I know I will get flamed) Though a game like Prince of Qin is more apt and also displays traits of the latter.
