UT2K4 Game Night FRIDAY

Sadly I am still finding it totaly unplayable on this server even though my ping is around 140.

Yeah, I''m afraid even on the CTF and Assault maps my connection isn''t too great on this server. I''m going to take a break and come back at 9PM CST

TeamSpeak is running, and the Voice Chat is enabled on the server. Not sure why it isn''t working in UT (maybe the server needs to be cycled).

Couldn''t hurt, my connection yesterday was much more consistant. I can take or leave TeamSpeak for this game, in-game chat works well enough.

Im going to cycle it. I''m also going to do some monitoring to see if the sluggishness people are seeing is due to the server or network related. Hopefully I can get it sorted out for everyone.

I am on Marlins Teamspeak server. The in game chat is awful.

Ok, I''ll pop on Team Speak too. Back in 30 minutes!

Server''s been cycled and I went in and tweaked some of the network settings so hopefully it improves the performance. Time will tell -- nothing like a new game to start tweaking and experimenting.

I''m gona take five aswell.

Great time. Thanks for the server Marlin it was a joy!
Well except for when Certis the rocket spamming whore got in my way. LOL

Anytime guys, great fun. Its always a good night when I can re-establish to the world just how lousy I am at these games.

Yeah, that was a blast. Add the teamspeak factor and Gaald shouting about rocket spammers and it feels like home on a summer''s day!

Yes, it was an awesome game. I especially liked the part where I killed Gaald over and over with my rocket launcher.

SPAM! SPAM! SPAM! No wait... BLAM! BLAM! BLAM!

No no, the best part was managing to teamkill Certis. I mean, sure he couldn''t stand up to me mano y mano, and sure killing him from behind is fun, but nothing beats, ""What? Killed by Elysium? How? Ughhh!""

Okay, what was happening with my mike on Teamspeak. Was it to sensitive? Let me know so I can fix it. I logged back on with my mike off, but that doesn''t do me much good. I want to complain about getting killed and shout for the joy of killing Elysium.

Your mic was constantly broadcasting. It actually sounded like you were manhandling your mic constantly.

You may want to take a look at your voice activation setting to make sure it isn''t too high.

Thanks Gaald! I''ll check into that.

Any of you all still wanna play? I''m about to join up to Marlin''s server to see if anyone is still there

Edit:
Nevermind, his server isn''t up :/

Go to sleep, Tobyus. You freak!

Woah, Sway got his inty back!

Sever is back up. Was just doing some tweaking.

Doh! Now ya tell me Just got done playing on a server with Gorack. Can''t remember what it was called though, Gorack might remember.

Oh, and welcome back Sway I''m going to sleep now.

It was a pretty good server. It was running onslaught map with 20 players and seldom lagged.

Linux version of the demo was released last night, just FYI. I just saw it on fileshack.com

I actually joined this forum a year ago and just figured out how to reactivate my account.

That was lots of fun last night, but my UT reflexes are way out of shape. I really put the We Suck Ass in -=[WSA]=-. Accidentally typing 450 W''s in a row and having that transmit for anyone who had Text-To Speech enabled being one of the highlights.

You guys were mentioning lag as a problem and I noticed some of that, which is surprising considering Marlin and I are in the same city and my ping is normally 30 to his house but my biggest problem is framerate in this game.

My fps flat out suck in as-Convoy with R9700 Pro and 2400XP. So much so it resembles lag, but is the same in Instant Action. It''s very disheartening and driving me slowly insane. How are your systems holding up in this game?

Client side, the game is performing really well for me with my lowly 2500XP and Ti4800. I''m tweaking the maxclientrates on the server to see if it makes any kind of improvement as opposed to oversaturating the connection.

I think the ping reports in game are off though -- when I use an external tool to look at everyone''s connectd ping they are slightly higher than those displayed in the game (not terribly higher, but a bit).

Certis was mentioning he was getting a lot of packet loss for a while last night, so who knows, maybe TELUS is having problems with the network (bad employer! bad employer!) lately.

It ran very well for me last night even Convoy. Maybe it is a problem with ATI cards? I have a Geforce Ti 4200.

Packet loss is a connection issue, not a video problem. Runs like greased lightening on my Radeon 9800 Pro

I think there was a little bit of a lag issue, but it was very playable on Assault mode. What was happening on Onslaught was different, almost like an out-of-sync issue at times, lots of warping and sluggishness to controls, and it really seemed related to vehicles.

I agree completely. Vehicles are effected the most by servers with poor pings. It seems this game demands a monster bandwidth server for smooth vehicle movement with lots of people on the server.
