UT 2004 demo news

Today is the day apparently..

12pm PST/3PM EST

whoohoo!!@!

I suddenly feel sick and have to go home at.....2:45. Yeah, that''s it.

Dangit, I was sick yesterday (for real). Now I''ll be stuck at work late trying to make up time. Why couldn''t this come out yesterday!

You can just get it later

sh*t, I hope I can on a server before I leave for work. Give me something to come home and play tonight. Or maybe I should just be sick too.

Later today, Atari and Epic Games will release the highly anticipated official demo for Unreal Tournament 2004 to gamers worldwide. Fans will be able to download the Unreal Tournament 2004 official demo directly from www.unrealtournament.com as well as from several worldwide mirror servers that can be found at www.unrealtournament.com.

The full game will be available at retail outlets in March; pre-orders are now available at all major video game sales outlets.

The Unreal Tournament 2004 official demo includes five playable game modes, and offers fans their first taste of Unreal Tournament 2004's two new game modes: the introduction of the hyper-charged Onslaught mode and the return of the fan-favorite Assault mode, which last appeared in the original Unreal Tournament. The demo also features established gametypes like Deathmatch, Capture the Flag and Bombing Run.

-- Onslaught Mode: Onslaught is a epic-in-scope team-based challenge that pits two teams in bitter warfare across massive terrain maps in a frag-filled battle to destroy, capture and hold key power nodes. Vehicles play a major role as war-hardened flying and driving machines transport combatants to the "front" and serve as mobile platforms to launch devastating attacks on the enemy.

-- Assault Mode: In the completely redesigned Assault mode, gamers are challenged to attack or defend bases in a bigger and badder version of the Unreal Tournament classic; many Assault maps require the use of vehicles as a critical gameplay element.

Just wanted to add the official post from Atari for your viewing pleasure.

I would like to meet up with some of you guys to play this over the next few days.

I''m giddy...

It will take me a bit to get back to UT''s hyperactive speed mode...

Makes even ET which is pretty fast pace look slow..

anyone got it coming in on a torrent file?
how''s the speed?

Just started to download. 3 hours of work left - sigh.

Hey bagga, do you think Splashmore can handle the game?

I hope so, server tonight bagga?

If the server comes in the package. I''m taking the lady out to dinner, and I''m leaving tomorrow but i''ll try to get everything set up.

--edit--
if I get too much traffic I might take this down, but for now you can get the demo here

Enjoy!

I have the demo now from Fileplanet but the link is appreciated bagga! I play squash tonight but I''ll be looking for a game when I get back.

I''m trying to download the linux dedicated server right now, what an arduous process. Get this, I tried to use Gamespot DLX on my linux machine to download the linux server, and it only works in IE. WTF. Anyway, I hope to get the server up tonight, probably ~10 or 11 EDT.

Been playing for an hour. I love onslaught and the vehicles even though it is rather hard and the bots suck at helping you. I just tried the Assault and didn''t care much for it really. Bots are just too dumb.

ok it''s 6pm.... where is the Mac demo! I want it....

Played it a bit over lunch...nice. Dig the vehciles, surprised that Bots seem less smart than I''d expect and absolutely overjoyed that they brought back ASSAULT, the main reason I got into UT in the first place!

Ahh...file complete! Unpacking now!

Oh man, you play Squash?!? I have SUCH a hard time finding anyone to play squash with. Dammit. You probably live in the Yukon or some other place too far away.

I have to say i found onslaught mode to rock thoroughly. The vehicles are pretty sweet too.
