NFL Championship Weekend

AFC Title Game - 3:00 ET

Indianapolis at New England

NFC Title Game - 6:45 ET

Carolina at Philadelphia

Prediction: these will be two greatest football games of the season and no matter who wins, the Super Bowl will feel like a let down by comparison.

As weird as it seems.. I''m looking forward more to the Colts vs Pats game.. I can watch it without agonizing over every call and play and I truely believe its going to be amazing on either side of the ball for both teams.

Its a great story if Dungy can take this team to the SB when he failed to do so with Tampa. And its a great story if the Pats can stop what so far has been unstoppable. Mannings numbers for the last 2 playoff games are INSANE.

It''s gonna be hard to beat last weekend. I thought they were all good games (and no blow outs!).

I''m picking Indy and Philly.

The playoffs this year have just been awesome all around. Best in recent memory. The Colts/Patriots game is a toss-up, but I''ll take the Pats. I pick Carolina over Philly.

I''ve been a Patriots fan as long as I remember (21 plus years) and a season ticket holder for 10. After years of being soooo bad I can''t tell you how weird it is to see other people actually pick them to go to the superbowl. I''m enjoying this, but at the same time I think it''s jinxing us. (Blame the Red Sox fan in me). So, that being said...

Pats over Colts. I''m so nervous about this game. Manning looks unstoppable. I''m hoping for a massive cold front and Ty Law to have the game of his life. I''ll be at the game with my digital camera. If anyone is interested I''ll post some pics.

Philly over Carolina. Philly at home avenging past NFC Championship losses. GameGuru gets his wish and Philly goes to the Superbowl.

Please do, that would be nifty.

Carolina @ Philly:

I think Philly is overrated. Their last game was pathetic. McNabb fumbled and seemed to be having trouble throwing the ball higher than 1 foot off the ground until the 4th quarter. Barring any more 4th quarter miracles or Delhomme throwing up a wounded duck to the Philly secondary, I pick Carolina to win by a touchdown or 2.

Indy @ NE:

If Manning can keep the ball away from the Patriot secondary, I predict the Colts to win in a 3-7 point squeaker. This should be one of those games where a single mistake (turnover, roughing the punter, etc) could decide it.

I''m disappointed with the results of last weekend, but agree totally with those saying these are the best set of playoffs to come around in years. To top it off, I think either NFC team against either AFC team stands a chance to make a fantastic super bowl.

Careful. You might be credited with saying (or thinking) more than you actually said.

It''s ok..

When the Eagles win Sunday.. everyone will again post how overrated they are and how pathetic they play and that they''ll get blown out in the SB.

Must be a Rush supporter... HAHA!

TheGameguru, you weren''t one of those philly ""fans"" who booed McNaab when he was drafted were you?

no..Im an educated fan.. when your rebuilding your franchise you always need to start with a stud QB. RB is not a franchise position. Besides..that was just getting McNabb used to the town he was going to be playing in I thought he handled it very well which I think just is magnified on how he has handled everything else. I think McNabb is a great example of whats right with the NFL.. he''s a class act and a great competitor.

Now.. I was upset when we passed on Priest Holmes because we couldnt promise him the starting position.

HELLO?

But its hard to argue with the organization. They have more wins than anyother team in the last 4 years. Hopefully this is the year it finally pays off.

I''m still suprised at how ignorant so many people are.. I was down here in MD working and talking with some of the ""guys"" here at this company and several were telling me straight up how the Eagles would never win simply because we had a black QB.

I just shooked my head and walked away.. It''s amazing how very little we as human beings have accomplished.

I wonder if a lot of the negative feelings towards certain organizations in football are still primarily about race and nothing else?

That always strikes me as odd when people say things like that...

Like no Black QB has ever won a SB before? Hello Doug Williams....

Not only being ignorant socially but also with their football knowledge?

I like McNaab. He and I go way back, to when he was in the ncaa football games. He was awesome! NCAA FB 1997!
I lost a triple overtime game to Temple....for my only loss of the season....

But for the year he had 3k passing yards and 1k rushing yards. With a multitude of tds.

Big talk little man.
I remember quite a few wins against you my friend. 7-5!

I really wish everyone would stop talking about the Pats being favored to win. What the hell!

The Colts seriously look unbeatable right now. However, if you look back at Belicheck''s playoff record against those high powered offenses it''s pretty good.

When he was D-Coordinator in NY, they held a Bills team that scored 51 and 44 pts in two playoff games to 19 pts. Then, in the superbowl against the Rams 2 years ago, they held a team that scored more than 500 pts in the regular season to 17.

That being said.....it''s going to be cold, not cold enough. Manning''s going to have a lot on his shoulders whereas Brady''s been here before and won (technically Drew won that AFC Championship game...YEAH BLEDSOE) but, you get my point...right?

*edit: My point was I have no point...in case you missed it. Just nervous ramblings...and the game is still 4 days away!

I was looking at some trends for the Eagles game.

For Carolina since they had a losing record last year here are the trends.

A team with a losing record in the previous year and on the road in the Championship game is 4-39

Add to that if the team they are playing against has a winning record of .700 or better then its 1-25!

ouch!

Wow. Do those Colts suck right now or what?

Pretty sloppy play, about to close the gap.

Update: Finally...a score.

oh wow...watching the end of the game..

has to be the worst officiated game I''ve ever seen

Last 2 pass plays were obvious pass interfierence..really bad..shame it has to end like that..

otherwise an excellent muddy, snowy game.

Have to agree, should have been intentional grounding on 3rd and 10 for the colts. Plus obvious holding penalty on the colts went uncalled on thier last TD drive. Guess the ref''s are just letting them play...

Oh, and I can''t wait to find out what member of the colts will say that the Patriots are ""Not a good team"". After every playoff win 2 years ago and the one win so far this year, at least 1 player on the opposing team has complained that they lost to an inferior team. So, let''s hear it.

Great game by the way....been screaming, sweating, drinking and being vewy vewy quiet the last 3.5 hrs...much like you Eagles fans are now eh, Gameguru?

Uh...no clue what team they are watching.. Pats are clearly the better team.. they effectively shut down the Colts offense.. minus 2 TD drives..

Manning looked uncomfortable the whole game.. The Pat''s basically did what they always do.. shut you down and make you look ugly..

Much like the Eagles..Pats win ugly..but they win.. and thats all that counts.

Whoa, Carolina is looking good.

bleh...it aint over till its over

I don''t think Philly will get a TD the first half.

I knew the Colts would choke. Manning is a damn good QB, but they have no defense to speak of, and throwing the ball in that kind of weather is totally different than throwing in a climate controlled dome. Good game though. Playing in weather like that is what the playoffs are all about to me.

I think the Colts should draft one more receiver and the rest defense.

So it''s going to be the Patriots and the Panthers in the Super ""P-P"" Bowl.

I think Philly is overrated. Their last game was pathetic.

This one, too.

I''m so depressed...

I feel like jumping off a bridge..

only made worse by the fact I worked all weekend down in MD...drove home 3 hours to watch the game at home.. now I have to drive back to MD tommorow morning..

Listen to some jackasses tell me that we lost because we have a black QB..

Life doesnt get much lower than this...

Peyton Manning is an overrated QB. The media just wanted to see a young white quarterback from the South to succeed in the postseason.
