Galactica 2003 premieres tonight

So far, most reviews of it have been favorable, save for the IGN review that has become a rallying cry for the fractured fan community. Who's watching it? Who's boycotting it? Who's scracthing their head saying, "Galactica? Wasn't that with the Bonanza guy?"

I will not be watching it. Sci-Fi channel was running two episodes of the old show every weekday last week and it just made me even more irritated at the new version. That Eick guy is a moron, saying that making Starbuck a woman brought a ""different dynamic"" to the relationship the warriors had when frickin'' Sheba was there almost the whole damn time.

And what about Cassiopia? Did they just get rid of her? It also seems like the basic plot has been changed because from the dialogue they''ve had in the promos that is isn''t a ""distant tribe of man"" so much as it is Earth in the future. Olmos'' version of Adama says ""God."" They didn''t have ""God"" they had ""The Lords of Cobol.""

And this is all from a show I didn''t like that much to begin with! If they ever mess with Buck Rogers like that, there will be hell to pay.

If they ever mess with Buck Rogers like that, there will be hell to pay.

I know. If they ever try to take my beloved Buck Rogers, epic hero of the 1920''s and 1930''s and update him into some cheesy 70''s television show, I will be seriously pissed! They better not mess with an established icon, like Buck Rogers, portrayed magnificently by Buster Crabbe at the height of his career in 1939. Can you imagine how bad an updated version of this serial classic could be?

Don''t you be dissin'' Twikki!

I''ll probably end up downloading it, I just can''t seem to sit down and watch TV when it''s on the air. I''m never at home at the right time.

My Tivo''s set to record the 1:00am showing. What''s up with the messed up times for the showing like 2 hours and 17 minutes.

I used to watch the old TV show a lot, so I''m looking forward to checking this out. The production values look pretty high if the trailers are any indication.

The original was often far from perfect, so I don''t mind them deviating too much. The most annoying part of the old series was that stupid kid and his robot dog, Moffot or Muppet or whatever. The new female model of Cylon is certain an *ahem* improvement.

I think George Lucas tried to sue them over the design of the fighter ships in the original, claiming they were ripped off from Star Wars, which they probably were. The new ones look exactly the same; George must still be pissed about that one (hehe).

Hey, I liked that show! OK, what I really liked was Erin Gray in spandex, but who didn''t!

I didn''t realize ral was really that old...or that he was cryogenically frozen during the 70s.

I unfortunatly have to download this off the net as no channel where I live with my cable setup is airing this tonight, or as it seems anytime in the near future.
