Blizzard Updates WoW Site

And adds some information on Trolls and Gnomes to the Townhall. Plus a few screenies.

worldofwar.net has the pictures with captioned info.

They also discuss the new trade skill tidbits released by Bliz.

Sorry for you haters out there (if there are any) but that game just looks unreal. I will gladly throw $50 away for a free month at that.

There art and graphic style hs great, I know a lot of folks are penning hopes on this one to break the stale MMORPG mold but i just can''t do that until they release more detailed information... so far everything I have read is way to broad and the devil is in the details for these games. If nothing else though it will make some hell of nice background pictures

Some good shots of the UI, it''s looking pretty nice and very functional. I really like the nice long sectional object dock... hope you drag it and make it even longer or wider... I''m sick of being restricted to some artificial limit and being told it''s strategy :p.

I have a prediction. You''ll play it and you like it for however long you wish to.

As pointed out by the all masterful genius known as Fangblackbone go to this link:

Scroll down a tiny bit and look for Shots and Icons news blip, that is what you want.

I think Flux intentionally skips my posts. =(

Doh, I feel stupid, time to edit

My recommendation for a nice read is the article found here:

Some of what they have looks very promising. I somehow always end up taking a pet class or the closest-thing-to-a-pet-class in these MMORPG''s and when they mentioned that Warlock''s get a sub-menu for their summoned creatures I was hooked on the idea. If any of you who are thinking of getting this one don''t mind a wise-ass Undead Warlock, count me in.

This is all assuming they don''t change it all and dash my hopes and dreams against the jagged rocks of reality like all the other MMORPG''s did.

I dislike pet classes...

Unless they somehow found the means to balance the class with the rest it will degenerate into the EQ Necro fiasco..

But if anyone an pull it off and balance it properly it will be Blizzard.

I''ve never played a game that had pet classes that are more powerful than the rest. Never played EQ so I don''t know what you''re talking about there.

What do you mean?

EQ Necros at the start were uber powerful...

Most people would solo them in <2 weeks to level 50..

With their unresistable life tap spells and their pet they could solo just about any nonboss mob in the game at one point.

What preceded was essentially wave after wave of much needed nerfs to bring them into balance with the rest of the classes...

Until of course they were rendered pretty much useless because of their limited group value.. (so no solo value and little group value)

Last I knew Necro''s were then given some bizzare spells that really didnt fit their class essentially turning them into mana sinks for other more useful classes.

Ah, ok. I thought you were possibly referring to Necros early on because now they are valuable in groups that I have been in. Not to mention Shamans, Mages and Beastlords can solo about as well now. As much as I like to knock EQ it is a damn solid and balanced game now.

Flux, early EQ necros could fear kite Gods. They could also chain cast their pet to solo gods and just feign death when the pet died, and recast when the God turned his back.

I have always liked balancing a pet with DOT (damage over time) spells. Cuz lets be honest, what is a pet if it isnt essentialy a melee manifestation of a DOT spell and a Root spell.

Of course I have always felt that if one class can summon a pet, then the best way to balance would be for all classes to summon a variety of pet. Then you can distinguish the classes by having pets that fight for the caster (EQ necro or mage), alongside the hybrid (EQ shaman), and behind the tank (familiar with DDs, heals or auras).

LOL! yeah at one point my guild was 80% necro''s...

and oh the message boards the day the patch went in that added resists to the lifetaps... HAHAHA!

Actually, pet imbalances only matter because we are still in the one or more characters vs. one monster style fighting. If a pet class can kill a monster 20-30% faster it makes a big difference.

If characters can take on more than one monster the pet balance problem is less. Who cares if a pet class could hypothetically kill 5 monsters in the same time a non pet class could kill 4? If most of the battles pit you against 2-3 monsters the point is moot. The pet class would prolly spend extra time arranging a 5 monster battle if he tries to display his prowess.

Back on Topic, the Gnomes look pretty cute. Yet again I am going to have to rearrange my character selections.

I couldn''t tell the Troll genders apart.
