Anybody checked Amazon.com today? They started this new search called "Inside the Book" that searches for your search terms inside every book they have in their catalog. All 33 million pages. It's damn fast too, so fast it's been included as part of the regular search. When your phrase comes up as a hit inside a book, there's a link that tells you what page it's on and gives you an excerpt. Goddamn that is sweet.
That is unreal. Thanks for posting this.

Good use: Finding out if a topic is covered in a software book.
Evil use: Getting the whole answer, game hint, etc. for free. Of course, this depends on the size of the excerpt.
Quotation is a serviceable substitute for wit. - Oscar Wilde
Quidquid latine dictum sit, altum sonatur. (Whatever is said in Latin sounds profound.) - Roedy Green
The point is, search for a character in a book and you get the book returned, or search for a memorable phrase or bit of terminology that was used in the book. Also, if someone quotes something you can search for the book and buy it. Or even search for ""Republican"" and books that deal with the party will show up even if they don''t have it in the title. You''re more likely to get what you want, basically.
Damn it. I wonder if they''ll patent this. It''s actually pretty cool.
