Max Payne 2 goes gold

Is it just me, or did the dev cycle on this one seem really short?

Or is it just that they only publicly unveiled it a few months ago that makes it seem weird.

It''s probably because the game hasn''t been hyped and previewed to death like most other sequels. Personally, I think this is a good sign.

I''ll be picking up my pre-order the day this one hits the shelves. Good, campy shoot-''em-up action...

O!... um, I can''t really say that I didn''t knew it was coming but... um, Its gone gold? what tha''...

Ah, excellent! I only recently picked up the first Max Payne and have been looking forward to the sequel ever since I finished it.

It''s only estimated to get here near the 31st of October though (:(), but at least that gives me some time to finish up a few other titles.

Hopefully this one is a little longer. I''m not just being a smartass either, I loved the first one and I hope this one lasts longer so I can enjoy it some more.

Pyro, the interviews I''ve seen with Rockstar indicate that the game will be slightly longer than the first one.

I also didn''t really have a problem with the length of the first game. However, that may very well be because I was able to pick it up quite cheaply. Given it''s length I think $50 at release may have been too steep.

(Rockstar also mentioned that they have toned down the dream-esque sequences in the sequel, which is a VERY good thing in my opinion!)

I could never get by the dream sequences of the first one...

the stupid crying baby and slow mo did me in...after I fell for the 20th time I never reloaded the game...

It kinda got tedious after a bit though too...once the coolness of bullet time wore off it felt very repetitive to me.

Aww, that''s a shame, I loved the dream sequences in the first one. The annoying jumping puzzles I could do without, but I don''t really want them ""toned down"" or anything. I thought they were pretty crazy and I liked that.

I could have easily lived without the second dream sequence. I enjoyed Max Payne and the atmosphere it had, but I regret having paid the full price for the game. Should have picked it up later or second-hand instead. Despite having enjoyed its prequel I''m somehow not hyped for MP2. I don''t really like what I''ve heard about the plot so far, plus the shooter genre isn''t what it was two years ago. A lot more games to choose from. (Halo, Far Cry, Call of Duty etc.) So, I guess I''ll buy MP2 when it hits the bargain bin (if I actually decide to get it.)

I''m hoping I can find the cash for it. I loved the first one and called it a great way to relax. Could have done without all the jumping in the dreams, but loved the crazyness of them.

Ambiguous choice of words on my part.

By ""toned down"" I meant ""toned down the jumping bits"" (that''s how I understood it at least). I doubt they''ll make the dreams less crazy though.

The kung-fu 3.0 mod was the best thing about Max Payne. I''m having way more fun playing through it again with this mod than I did playing through it the first time.

I hope the mod carries over to 2, but as the website seems to have disappeared, hope is fleeting.
