Bioware's Next Xbox Game = Jade Empire

Just saw over at Evil Avatar's that MS has announced their next Bioware Xbox game and it's called Jade Empire. The press release dosen't give much info but one of his subscribers dug this up,

"The game has a lot in common with Fable. The protagonist (male or female) is a martial-arts student and he (or she) try to impress his master and the other person in his village. He has to made a long journey in the land of Jade Empire (a mixture of China, Maya and Atzech architecture). During the journey he'll increase his ability and he'll build his reputation (like in Fable). If we'll choose the good way, the martial arts school will be even more famous and a lot of new student will come to us. If we'll choose the evil way we will exile and we'll enter in the evil army. During the journey we'll learn new skills (Shenmue?) and we can choose which of them increase. The abilities could be hand to hand combat skill, with melee weapon (sword, knives etc. and also environment things like bottles and chairs), magic etc."

I have a lot of faith in Bioware. Maybe more than any other game company I can think of, so I'm pretty excited about this.

Sounds great, plus you never know, it may even come out before Fable...

True. I worry about Fable from time to time ...

Damn, I guess the days of BioWare focusing on PC titles are gone for good. Even if they make a PC version of Jade Empire I doubt I''ll like it.

They have yet to unveil their PC project, which was announced at the same time.

No hints?

IIRC it was said that - like the Xbox project - it''s not going to be D&D based or at least a setting they haven''t used before.

It is almost depressing how many great games that should have been for the PC have been hijacked by bags full of Microsoft money. I lament for what could have been, and weep at future games lost into the XBox blackhole. Ah well, at least we still Halflife 2 and Doom 3 first, at least until MS gets a bigger Brinks Truck.

I like to fantasize about BG3 even though I know it will never happen. Sigh.

I''m take it winter doesn''t have an Xbox?

Have you ever read the Fable dev diaries at IGN? Read the one about them getting a publisher. How MS was the only one willing to take a chance on them. That''s a dev story I''ve read from a lot of teams.

If it wasn''t for MS''s investments in the gaming biz, I wonder how many less games there would be out there to play...

So it goes both ways. We all know PC gaming will never die, so get a big comfortable chair with a beer holder and enjoy some console games for a while.

These things always go in waves. I noticed I seem to get a round of games to play on my PC, then the consoles, then PC, then the consoles.

When I have games on both, I''m in video game heaven.

Need the computer, honey? Okay I''ll just play some Xbox.

You want to watch the bachler? Okay I''ll just play on the PC.

You nailed it on that one...best of both worlds by far!
