Best Buy BREAKDOWN

I'm having a break down people. It's hit me like a fever.

Let's call it, the Best Buy Breakdown.

We need a new coffee maker, suddenly I see myself walking into Best Buy smiling.

I pick out a coffee maker, and stroll (whistling) over to the games section.

"Yes, I'll take Ghost Recon, Soul Caliber and Tron 2.0 please. Money? Sure I've got this plastic card with your logo on it, that will work, won't it? Oh and while your at it, might as well throw Otgia in there as well."

Now I see myself walking out of the store with a large bag of shiny new games. Shiny happy games.

I think my hands are trembling a bit.

My vision is going blurry.

Someone stop me! Ahhhh!! The card in my wallet is getting hotter!

Can't .... control ..... THE URGE.

I''ve got a Best Buy card in my wallet from when I bought a TV there and took advantage of one of their No Payments / No Interest offers. It''s pretty much remained at a zero balance for a couple years now. I still keep it for two reasons. First, you never know when you''ll need it. I mean, really, it could happen. There''s always the chance that one day I''ll walk in and Xboxes will be on sale for $5 and I won''t have any cash, and will have just paid all my bills so my bank card will be empty, and my credit card will be declined due to some freak identity theft. When that happens, I will be thanking myself for keeping that little blue card handy. The other reason is because every time I walk in and out of Best Buy without putting anything on that card, I consider it one of the little victories in life. I probably even get a squirt of endorphins into my brain when I strut past Captain Yellowshirt working the guard post by the doors without a single receipt on my person. You get enough of those and sometimes you actually look forward to not buying anything.

Well, that and the GameCube section is bleak.

Same here Sway, my Best Buy card has some dust on it but if the right sale comes along I may use it.

I have EVERYTHING figured out -

""Yes honey I got the new coffee maker. Where? From Best Buy..... OH! WELL WHAT DO YOU KNOW! How did THOSE get in the bag? Well, guess we might as well play them since we have them here. No. No use bringing them back. They must have opened somehow inside the bag.....""

*places pinky at corner of mouth*

Booha ha ha ha! Boo ha ha ha!

Less of a problem for me, I don''t like Best Buys return policy so they get very little to none of my money. But there are thoese dangerouse other locations that my wallet lives in fear of.

Best Buy has always taken my returns, what are you referring to Griffon?

Same here. Unless your talking software? But then again not even EBWorld will take returns on software naymore.

I had a Best Buy card a few years ago then they switched their credit provider and you had to sign up all over again and I never did bother. I originally got it to get those sweet 0% deals when I was filling out my first apartment with a TV and W/D.

Oh yeah Ridlin, please let us know what you think of Otogi!

Happy ending. I''m standing in front of the cashier tapping my Best Buy card while she''s scanning everything in.

""You want 6 months same as cash with this, right?""

""yep.""

""Oh wait! You can get payments / no interest until Jan 2005 if you want. You want that?""

""Wow! Sure! why do I get that?""

She taps the $40 coffee maker, ""It''s because you bought an appliance.""

Destiny. That''s what it is.

God wanted me to get those games today..

I love Best Buy; it''s my favorite store. Games, DVDs, music, plasma TVs, everything I want all in one shiny happy place.

I have avoided getting a Best Buy card because it would quickly lead to my financial downfall. They put stuff like toasters and vacuum cleaners in the store to give you a practical reason for coming in (you have noticed they''re always in the back of the store, right?), and then they seduce you with all the stuff you really want.

I''ve got a $10.00 Best Buy gift card in my car I haven''t used yet, how pathetic is that?

Best Buy is great until you have to check out. The 2 that are here in Memphis have horrible customer support. Usually there is a MAX of 2 lanes open and you have to wait in lines at least 6 people deep.

Same on this side of the state Optimistic, Knoxville here

About as pathetic as the $20 card and $5 coupon I''ve had for two months and just carry around with me.

Do any of you know if Best Buy might have Advanced Wars 2 for the GBA? I need to snag one before my weekend trip.

I was there 2 days ago and saw a few copies of Advance Wars 2.

It''s worth the $$. Great game.

Just cutting up the card isn''t enough. Even if you don''t have an actual card anymore, they will look up your account number and let you charge it, assuming you have other identification. There''s no escape.

I was jabbing at their software policy and they are in the Evil group of companies that feel they get to charge a 15% restocking fee on any computer related item regardless of if it is warranted or not.
